Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that an MRI on QB Justin Herbert's ankle revealed that the injury is "progressing." Herbert is out of his walking boot. It's still unclear whether he'll start this weekend's game against the Chiefs. Two things that might factor into that decision:

  1. The Chargers are expected to be without OTs Joe Alt (knee) and Rashawn Slater (pectoral).
  2. The team has an upcoming Week 5 bye.

QB Taylor Heinicke would presumably get the start if Herbert misses the Chiefs game. We'll keep you updated on the situation.

Bears WR Keenan Allen (heel) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. "He's tracking to return this week if all goes well," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted.

Texans RB Joe Mixon is still "week to week" with his ankle injury, according to insider Aaron Wilson. It doesn't sound like Mixon is likely to play vs. the Jaguars on Sunday. Houston is expected to get RB Dameon Pierce back from his hamstring injury for that one, per Wilson.

The NFL has suspended Chargers S Derwin James one game for "repeated violations" of the safety rules. James was most recently flagged for an illegal hit in the loss to the Steelers. His seven such penalties since 2018 tie him for second-most in the NFL, but he has reached that number in fewer games than other "leaders" in the category. James appealed the suspension, but it was upheld. So he'll miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Elijah Molden looks likely to fill in.

The Chiefs elevated RB Kareem Hunt from the practice squad to the active roster. RB Keaontay Ingram was released in a corresponding move

Jaguars LB Foye Oluokun is "expected to miss several weeks" with plantar fasciitis, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. We'll watch for further details on his expected return timeline, but this is an issue that tends to linger. Players often play through plantar fasciitis, including Chargers QB Justin Herbert earlier this season. That Oluokun is expected to miss time suggests a more serious case. Jacksonville will increase the roles of LB Ventrell Miller and Chad Muma in Oluokun's absence. We'll see exactly how playing time breaks down.

Panthers WR Adam Thielen suffered a hamstring injury during the Panthers' win against the Raiders. The team is placing him on injured reserve, meaning Thielen will miss at least the next four games, eligible to return for Week 8's contest against the Denver Broncos.

Jaguars LB Foye Oluokun left in the second quarter of Monday night's loss to the Bills with a foot injury. Initially listed as questionable to return, he was downgraded to out before the end of the game.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that RB Najee Harris won't have any limitations in practice this week. Harris' arm was in a sling following the Week 3 win over the Chargers, but he'll be ready to go for Sunday's game against the Colts. Harris might play a bigger role than usual because RB Jaylen Warren's availability for that one is in question, according to Tomlin. Warren was scheduled for an MRI on an injured knee, but we still haven't heard the results. Fantasy owners should not be planning on using him in Week 4 lineups.

Bills WR Keon Coleman did not play in the first quarter of Monday night's game vs. the Jaguars. HC Sean McDermott said afterward that "it was an issue with being on time."

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence was pulled late in Monday’s blowout loss to Buffalo. Before departing, Lawrence managed just 178 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT on a 55.2% completion rate.

Bills RB James Cook scored for the second straight week in a blowout win over Jacksonville. He's now totaled 4 TDs on the season.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow was 29 of 38 for 324 yards and three TDs in the loss to the Commanders while targeting WR Ja'Marr Chase seven times. Chase had six catches for 119 yards and two TDs. Tee Higgins was targeted six times, including a near TD grab, but only ended with three catches for 39 yards.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels ended the game completing 21 of 23 passes for 254 yards and two TDs. He also added 39 yards and a TD on the ground.

Commanders RB Austin Ekeler sustained a concussion in Monday night's win over the Bengals. It's his third documented concussion. Ekeler now only has six days to get cleared before Week 4's meeting with the Cardinals. Consider him unlikely to play in that one. Ekeler's absence would likely mean an expanded role, particularly in the passing game, for RB Brian Robinson.

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that DT Javon Hargrave is expected to need surgery for a triceps tear and miss the rest of the season.

Raiders Edge Maxx Crosby revealed after Sunday's loss to the Panthers that he's playing through a significant ankle injury. He was officially questionable for the game but expected to play -- and did.

The Raiders are sticking with QB Gardner Minshew as their starter, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Minshew was benched in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Panthers after producing just 15 points against a defense that had struggled mightily over the first two weeks. We'll see if Minshew can survive a much tougher Week 4 matchup against the Browns. He's not even a recommended QB2 starter for that one -- and we still expect to see QB Aidan O'Connell at some point this season.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that he's hoping to get TE George Kittle (hamstring) back at practice this week. That suggests that Kittle has a chance to play against the Patriots on Sunday. We'll keep you updated on his status throughout the week.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is seeing a specialist in Germany about his lingering Achilles tendinitis, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. "Those treatments likely involve therapies designed to increase blood flow — and thus the healing process — in his sore Achilles," The Athletic's Matt Barrows writes.
