Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Niners Edge Nick Bosa and LB Dre Greenlaw are active for tonight's game against the Rams. Bosa returns after missing the past three games with an oblique injury. He managed just a single limited practice, though, in a walkthrough. Bosa remains a risky play for IDP lineups. Greenlaw's making his 2024 debut. He has been out since suffering an Achilles' tear in the Super Bowl. That makes it tough to know what kind of playing time we can expect from the LB. He's best left on fantasy benches this week. The San Francisco defense can only benefit from getting the stars back, though.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Rams after putting in a full practice Wednesday. It was merely a walkthrough, but also the first time Greenlaw has been listed as a full participant since returning to practice ahead of the Week 13 game. Edge Nick Bosa is also questionable after returning to a limited practice Wednesday. San Francisco also ruled out rookie S Malik Mustapha.
The 49ers expect to get LB Dre Greenlaw back for the Week 15 game against the Rams. He has put in limited practices each day of the past two weeks but was still ruled out for this Sunday's game against the Bears. Greenlaw, of course, has yet to play this season because he's recovering from the Achilles' rupture he suffered in the Super Bowl.
The 49ers have activated S Talanoa Hufanga from IR. He put in limited practices all week and is officially questionable. But Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area on Friday called him "set to return" for Sunday's game against the Bears.
The 49ers expect Edge Nick Bosa to miss his third straight game this week. Bosa's officially doubtful after missing all three practice days with the hip and oblique injuries that cost him the past two games. He has participated in just one practice since Week 10.
Niners CB Charvarius Ward (Knee) is inactive for tonight's game against the Seahawks. It's a bit surprising after he managed limited practices the past two days and entered the night questionable. That leaves San Francisco without its top corner against the league's leading offense in passing volume. Ward's absence particularly helps DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett on the outside.
Niners LB Fred Warner (ankle) is officially active for today's game against the Cardinals, as expected. CB Isaac Yiadom (thigh) is also active after entering the day questionable.
Niners LB Fred Warner is expected to play through his ankle sprain today against the Cardinals, according to multiple reports. There might still be some risk of limited playing time, but this early report indicates that he's better than a game-time decision. He appeared to be moving well in his Friday return to practice. I moved Warner back up the Week 5 LB rankings on this morning's news. He'll obviously carry some re-injury risk -- but also plenty of fantasy upside. Weigh both vs. your other IDP lineup options.
Niners HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that DT Javon Hargrave is expected to need surgery for a triceps tear and miss the rest of the season.
Niners Edge Nick Bosa (rib) and CB Charvarius Ward (hamstring, knee) are active for today's game against the Rams. Both look ready for IDP use as planned.
The 49ers left S Talanoa Hufanga off the final Week 3 injury report for the first time this season. That should mean the first action for Hufanga since he suffered an ACL tear in Week 11 last season. I wouldn't bet on the safety getting a full workload, and there's likely more risk than reward to playing Hufanga in IDP lineups. But we'll see how quickly he can ramp back up to full duty. Expect Hufanga to reclaim the position that George Odum and Malik Mustapha have covered the first two weeks.
Niners Edge Nick Bosa is officially questionable for today's game against the Rams. But ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that he's expected to play. Bosa popped up on the Thursday injury report with a rib issue that limited him Thursday and Friday. Plan to have him available for your IDP lineups, though. We'll confirm his status when inactives are announced.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw tore his left Achilles' tendon running onto the field in the second quarter of the Super Bowl. It's devastating timing for a devastating injury that puts his 2024 season into question. On top of that, Greenlaw heads into the final season of a two-year extension. His 2024 carries a $9.6 million cap number vs. just $2.8 million in dead cap if San Francisco cuts him, according to Spotrac. That could make him a cap casualty for a team projected to be just $570K under the cap for 2024. We'll keep an eye on both the contract situation and the rehab for a star LB who will be heading into just his age-27 season. The injury also chips away at Greenlaw's dynasty value, though it doesn't necessarily make him an offseason cut for fantasy.
The 49ers could be without LB Dre Greenlaw for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He's questionable with hip and ankle injuries after managing just one limited practice Friday. DC Steve Wilks said Thursday that he expected Greenlaw to play, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows. CB Charvarius Ward (groin) is also questionable after following the same practice schedule. We'll watch for more on both players over the weekend. The 49ers have ruled out DT Javon Hargrave and DL Arik Armstead.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw is considered "day-to-day" as he deals with hip and ankle injuries, according to Niners Nation. Greenlaw temporarily left Sunday's win over the Seahawks but played 95% of snaps. He seems like a good bet to be ready for Week 15. DL Arik Armstead "might miss one more game," HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday. DT Javon Hargrave (hamstring) and CB Charvarius Ward (groin) have a "chance" to play. Both left Sunday's game early and did not return. We'll check their statuses through the practice week.
If you're disappointed in the fantasy output from 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw in Week 13, there's a good explanation. He got ejected midway through the third quarter after an altercation with a security guard on the Eagles' sideline. It doesn't seem as though Greenlaw's likely to face further discipline for the incident. So go back to considering him a potential weekly starter for Week 14 and beyond.
Niners HC Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday's game that S Talanoa Hufanga "most likely" suffered an ACL tear in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. That would obviously end Hufanga's season. Rookie Ji'ayir Brown filled in after Hufanga left and figures to start going forward
Niners DT Javon Hargrave (knee) is active for today's game against the Jaguars. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.
The Commanders are trading Edge Chase Young to the 49ers for a third-round pick. The move comes on the same day Washington sent Edge Montez Sweat to the Bears for a second-rounder. The Commanders had clearly decided they either wouldn't or couldn't re-sign either contract-year player. In Young's case, the team had already declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Young joins a San Francisco defense that likely won't need him to be an every-down player, especially right away. But the 49ers clearly believe their pass rush needs an upgrade. They previously added former Broncos Edge Randy Gregory. We'll see about Young's early role with his new team, as well as whether San Francisco plans to try to keep him around beyond this season.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is active for tonight's game against the Vikings. Use him as planned in your IDP lineups.
