Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert (foot) was on the field for Monday's practice. The Athletic's Daniel Popper posted video of Herbert taking a couple of half-speed dropbacks and launching deep balls.

Bills WR Curtis Samuel is dealing with turf toe. HC Sean McDermott said Monday that Samuel is “week to week.”

Commanders HC Dan Quinn named QB Jayden Daniels the Week 1 starter. As expected. Daniels, 23, becomes the second rookie QB in franchise history to start the opener (Robert Griffin III).

Broncos WR Troy Franklin has struggled in training camp, but the Broncos appear to want to keep developing him slowly. With the team preferring veterans like Tim Patrick, Franklin could be in line for a redshirt or special teams year only.

Titans HC Brian Callahan said Sunday that WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) should be back soon and is on track to be ready for Week 1, per ESPN's Turron Davenport. Hopkins went down a little less than three weeks ago with a knee injury that was expected to cost him 4-6 weeks. It sounds like he'll be back on the short end of that timetable.

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is expected to miss "multiple weeks" with the hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday's preseason game vs. the Bills, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Pittsburgh's season-opener is three weeks away, and Pelissero confirms that Warren's availability for Week 1 is "in doubt."

We passed along when The Athletic's Daniel Popper had Chargers rookie RB Kimani Vidal in danger of missing the regular-season roster. Well, Popper has adjusted his projection now, moving him ahead of Isaiah Spiller and onto the final roster. The change comes after Vidal ran for 49 yards on 11 carries in his first preseason action (the team's second exhibition).

Raiders HC Antonio Pierce announced Sunday that QB Gardner Minshew will start Week 1, leaving Aidan O'Connell to back him up. Pierce said the decision was based on many factors and not based on their performances in the second preseason game. O'Connell threw a pick-6 late in that game. The coach said they believe Minshew gives the team the best chance to start fast.

Commanders HC Dan Quinn suggested multiple times this past week that there's an ongoing competition for the team's No. 2 and No. 3 WR spots. After Saturday night's preseason game, Quinn said that it might wind up being a rotation with WRs Jahan Dotson, Dyami Brown, and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Jets HC Robert Saleh talked up RB Braelon Allen's passing-game ability after Saturday's preseason game. Allen caught just two of four targets for 12 yards in that one but has reportedly been impressing with his route running and pass protection in camp.

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of Saturday night's preseason game vs. the Bills. The team labeled him doubtful to return (which he obviously won't).

Per Giants beat writer Dan Duggan, QB Daniel Jones “has looked so good physically this summer that his return to game action doesn't seem like a big deal.” Jones is set to make his preseason debut today vs. Houston.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba have "obvious chemistry," The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar writes. "Smith-Njigba isn’t a speedster; he wins with deception and quickness in and out of his routes. Maximizing his production requires timing and an understanding of his tempo. Smith has a good feel for that."

Patriots HC Jerod Mayo said after Thursday night's preseason game that "the competition isn't over" for the starting QB job. Mayo added that QB Drake Maye has made strides but that the operation still needs to be faster with the rookie, per Evan Lazar of the team's official website.

Jets TE Tyler Conklin is “poised for a big season,” per NFL insider Connor Hughes. Conklin tallied a career-best 621 yards in 2023.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey looked "spry" running, cutting, and catching passes off to the side of Thursday's practice, according to The Mercury News' Cam Inman. It's the first time we've heard of McCaffrey running and cutting since his August 4 calf injury.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert (foot) has shed his walking boot and appears to be on to the next step of his recovery. He had an injury in his right foot to the plantar fascia. The expectation has been that Herbert will play in Week 1 and no longer being in a walking boot backs up that timeline.

The Falcons on Thursday agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with former Broncos S Justin Simmons. That should install Simmons as the starter next to Jessie Bates III.

Giants WR Malik Nabers (ankle) will practice on Thursday and "has a chance" to play in Saturday's preseason game, HC Brian Daboll said. Nabers suffered a minor ankle injury four days ago.

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy (ankle) was back on the practice field and participating in individual drills on Thursday, just two days after being carted off the field with an air cast on his leg. "Looks fine," The Athletic's Dan Duggan tweeted.
