D.J. Chark Jr. Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers WR D.J. Chark (hip) has been activated from IR, putting him in line to make his 2024 debut vs. the Browns on Sunday. Chark could provide some juice to Los Angeles' downfield passing game, but we'd be surprised if he was higher than fourth in line for snaps behind WRs Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Josh Palmer. Chark should not be in Week 9 fantasy lineups.

Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. The rookie only got in a limited practice on Friday but did play through this hip issue last week. WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) is inactive, and WR D.J. Chark (groin) remains on IR.

Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Saints. WRs Ladd McConkey (hip) and D.J. Chark (groin) are questionable. McConkey played through this hip issue last week, so we’re expecting him to play against the Saints. But the hip issue adds risk to a guy who was a low-upside fantasy starter to begin with.

Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (hip) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Cardinals. WR Simi Fehoko (shoulder, groin) is also active. WRs Derius Davis (hamstring) and WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) are inactive. WR D.J. Chark (groin) was not activated and won’t play tonight. McConkey, Josh Palmer, and Fehoko figure to serve as Los Angeles’ top three WRs in this one.

Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) did not practice all week and is doubtful for Monday night's game vs. the Cardinals. WR Ladd McConkey (hip) is listed as questionable after a limited week of practice. WRs D.J. Chark (groin), Derius Davis (hamstring), and Simi Fehoko (shoulder, groin) are also officially questionable. Josh Palmer and Brendan Rice are the only healthy WRs on the active roster. We'll see if the Chargers make a promotion from the practice squad ahead of kickoff. McConkey has been the only fantasy-viable WR here for most of the season. If you were hoping to start him this week, make sure you have a backup plan from the Chargers, Cardinals, Bucs, or Ravens rostered in case the rookie ends up inactive on Monday night.

The Chargers placed WR D.J. Chark (hip) on IR. He's out for at least the first four games of the season. Chark looked like the favorite to open the season as Los Angeles' starting outside WR opposite Josh Palmer, but WR Quentin Johnston will now get another crack at that job. We're not very optimistic Johnston will take advantage, but he's worth monitoring in tomorrow's opener vs. the Raiders. Chark can be dropped in all redraft leagues.

Chargers WR D.J. Chark (hip) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. That should give WR Quentin Johnston a shot at a full slate of snaps, although he still shouldn’t be anywhere near fantasy lineups.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert (foot) was on the field for Monday's practice. The Athletic's Daniel Popper posted video of Herbert taking a couple of half-speed dropbacks and launching deep balls.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert has been diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot, the team announced. "Doctors have recommended approximately two weeks in a boot — followed by a graduated return to play protocol — with the expectation that he will be ready for the start of the regular season," the team said in a statement.

Thursday's starter vs. starter drills at Chargers camp found second-year WR Quentin Johnston working with the second team, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper. The first-team trio: Ladd McConkey, D.J. Chark, and Joshua Palmer.

The Chargers and WR D.J. Chark agreed to a one-year deal worth “up to” $5 million," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Chark went for 1,008 yards back in 2019 but hasn't really been fantasy relevant since. He's missed 39 games over the last four seasons and averaged 48.6 yards per game. Chark finished a distant second to WR Adam Thielen with 525 receiving yards on a bad Panthers passing game last year. His 1.08 yards per route ranked 75th among 93 qualifying WRs. Chark isn't a guy you should be excited to bet on, although this is a solid landing spot with QB Justin Herbert and a wide-open WR corps. Chark, Ladd McConkey, Josh Palmer, and Quentin Johnston will duke it out for snaps this summer.

The Panthers fired HC Frank Reich. He didn't even make it a full season in Carolina, going 1-10 in his 11 games. An offensive-minded coach, Reich's Panthers offense sits 30th in yards per game, 29th in points per game, and 31st in offensive DVOA. A poor group of skill-position players didn't help the cause, but Reich did very little to elevate the offense or rookie QB Bryce Young. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will finish out the season as interim HC, while OC Thomas Brown takes back over as play-caller. We'll see if the moves lead to any changes in player usage, but don't expect the offense to be noticeably better.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys. Chark has been a full-time player when healthy this season but is averaging just 33 yards per game.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Cowboys but would be a weak fantasy play. Chark has topped 42 yards in a game just once all season.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Bears. That leaves Terrace Marshall as the No. 3 WR behind Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo. Marshall is certainly in play in one-game DFS contests but would be a desperation season-long fantasy start.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) missed practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Thursday night's game vs. the Bears. His absence should elevate WR Terrace Marshall into a top-3 role. When Chark missed Week 1, Marshall ran a route on 96% of Carolina's pass plays and drew six targets for a 15.8% share. He turned that action into just two catches for 23 yards, though, and is really only in play in one-game DFS contests. Chark's absence could mean an extra target or two for WRs Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo.
