Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Initial tests on Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson's left knee did not reveal any ACL damage, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. X-Rays also came back clean, but Ferguson is still scheduled for an MRI on Monday.
RB Rico Dowdle carried more buzz out of camp and preseason, but RB Ezekiel Elliott led the Week 1 backfield in opportunities and production. Elliott carried 10 times for 40 yards and the team's lone rushing score from 3 yards out) in Sunday's win at Cleveland. He added 2 receptions for 9 yards on 2 targets. Dowdle went 8-26 on the ground and caught his lone target for 6 yards.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott threw for just 179 yards and 1 TD in Sunday's 33-17 victory at Cleveland. He completed 19 of 32 passes while taking three sacks. He started stronger, with 156 yards and the scoring toss to WR Brandin Cooks before halftime but went quiet in the second half.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson accounted for 3 total TDs in Sunday's close loss to the Texans. He tallied a key 6-56-1 rushing and 212-2-1 passing on just 9 completions.
Rookie Raiders TE Brock Bowers led the Raiders catching six of eight targets for 58 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. Bowers only played 68% of the Raiders' offensive snaps, but still beat out both WRs Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in targets and catches.
Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins took 10 carries for 135 yards and a TD while adding three receptions for four yards in the game against the Raiders. Most of Dobbins damage happened in the second half where he racked up 131 yards on eight carries, including a big 61-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Chargers WR Joshua Palmer was ejected after a brawl with Raiders CB Jack Jones. Palmer had a poor stat line up through that point catching two of his four targets for only 15 yards, including dropping a potential TD. He was out-targeted by WRs Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey.
Seahawks RB Ken Walker suffered an abdomen injury late in Sunday's win over the Broncos. He was deemed questionable to return and didn't play on the team's final possession. We'll look for an update on Walker's status. His injury history includes a sports hernia surgery (2022), groin injury (2023), and oblique injury (2023).
Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Browns due to a knee injury. Stay tuned for an update on his status.
Browns TE David Njoku injured an ankle in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Cowboys. He's officially questionable to return. We'll update Njoku's status when we know more.
Patriots WR K.J. Osborn drew a team-high 6 targets in Sunday's upset win over the Bengals, catching just three for 21 yards. Those 3 receptions tied him with RB Rhamondre Stevenson for the team lead. No Patriot tallied more than 31 receiving yards, as QB Jacoby Brissett threw for only 121 yards on 15-of-24 passing. That target lead for Osborn also proved deceptive vs. the WR corps playing time.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne took 12 carries for only 44 yards and 1 TD in Week 1. He added 2 catches for 15 yards for an OK fantasy day. Most troubling, though, was the involvement of second-year RB Tank Bigsby. Coming off a strong training camp, Bigbsy matched Etienne in carries and topped him in yards by 29.
Bears QB Caleb Williams didn't get to 100 passing yards in his debut against the Titans on Sunday. He completed just 14 of 29 attempts (48%) for 93 yards (3.2 YPA), 0 TDs, and 0 INTs. Williams flashed his mobility and arm strength on a few occasions. And WR Keenan Allen dropped a would-be six-yard TD. But Williams missed multiple downfield throws and had a few passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.
Bills RB James Cook saw the team add Round 4 RB Ray Davis over the spring. By all accounts, the rookie enjoyed a strong summer. But as expected, the third-year RB remained the backfield leader against Arizona. Cook handled 19 of 24 team RB attempts. He also caught all 3 of his targets for 32 yards -- enough for a decent 13% target share.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught a solid six passes for 62 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. He snagged all six of his targets, tying WR Andrei Iosivas for the team target lead amid a poor Cincinnati offensive performance. Chase's yardage more than doubled Iosivas' 26 receiving yards. No other Bengal exceeded 18 yards.
Titans RB Tony Pollard out-carried RB Tyjae Spears 16 to four in Sunday's opener vs. the Bears. Both backs saw four targets. Pollard looked more explosive than he did at any point of his disappointing 2023 season. He ripped off 82 rushing yards for 5.1 yards per carry, highlighted by this 26-yard score in the first quarter. Pollard added 12 more yards on three catches.
Bills QB Josh Allen looked in mid-season form in a Week 1 win over Arizona. Spreading the ball around to nine different pass catchers, Allen completed 18 of 23 passes for 232 yards. He added 2 TDs -- plus 2 more on the ground. We’ll just have to keep an eye on Allen’s health; he was spotted with his left wrist tapped following the game, according to multiple beat writers.
RB Zack Moss led the Bengals in carries, rushing yards, and backfield targets in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. His 9 carries tripled Chase Brown's total, accounting for 75% of the team's RB rushes in a quiet offensive performance. Moss ran well on that light work, with his 44 yards coming out to 4.9 per rush. Brown tallied just 11 yards on his three rushes. Brown caught all three of his targets for 12 yards, while Moss tallied 2 receptions for 17 yards on 4 targets. He also ran for the team's lone TD from 5 yards out in the third quarter.
Titans QB Will Levis threw for just 127 yards with one TD and two INTs in the Week 1 loss to the Bears. Tennessee's defense played well enough to win this game, but Levis couldn't get anything going and threw a horrific pick-six in the fourth quarter that wound up being the game-deciding score. Levis completed 19 of 32 passes (59%) and averaged just 4.0 yards per attempt
Cardinals RB James Conner stayed busy in Sunday's close loss to Buffalo. He handled 16 of 19 team RB attempts and 4 of 7 backfield targets.
