Cardinals RB James Conner stayed busy in Sunday's close loss to Buffalo. He handled 16 of 19 team RB attempts and 4 of 7 backfield targets.
Conner lost some third-down snaps to backup RB Emari Demercado – a trend we saw develop in 2023. Rookie Round 3 pick Trey Benson handled just 3 carries for 13 yards. (Benson's exciting talent makes him a fine stash if you have a deep bench, but it's clear he won't be a big part of the backfield early on.)
Still, the former Steeler found the end zone early for Arizona, converting on an inside run from the 3 yard-line. He ranked second on the team in receiving yards (33) on a day that found Kyler Murray throw for only 162 yards.
Overall, Conner looked healthy, breaking several tackles and showing plenty of burst. Facing a Bills defense missing LB Matt Milano certainly helped.
Week 2 brings a matchup with a Rams run defense that doesn’t project as a strength. They'll also travel to Arizona after playing the night game in Detroit on Sunday.
Conner cost only $6.1K on FanDuel this week; $6.2K on DraftKings. He projects at a similar price range against the Rams, making him a viable cash-game option in early looks.
