Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Texans have claimed WR Diontae Johnson off waivers from the Ravens, according to multiple reports. That marks his fourth team since the end of last season.
Texans WR Tank Dell left Saturday's loss to the Chiefs after suffering a serious injury to his left knee. Dell caught a 30-yard TD pass early in the third quarter but landed in clear pain. He left the field in an ambulance with his entire leg being stabilized. HC DeMeco Ryans told reporters after the game that Dell will stay overnight in a Kansas City hospital.
Texans WR Stefon Diggs will miss the remainder of the season with a torn right ACL. His season ends with 47 catches, 496 yards, and 3 TDs in less than 8 full games.
The Texans placed WR Nico Collins on IR. That knocks him out for at least the next four games vs. the Patriots, Packers, Colts, and Jets. Collins will be eligible to return for Week 10's game against the Lions. "While hamstrings can be tricky, the belief is that Nico Collins will be back sooner, rather than later," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweets.
When addressing WR Nico Collins' injury on Monday, Texans HC Demeco Ryans said, "it takes a couple of weeks for a hamstring, so we'll evaluate that on a week-to-week basis." It's not exactly a concrete timetable for Collins' return, but it sounds like the Texans are bracing for a potential multi-game absence. We'll keep an eye on Collins this week, but fantasy owners should at least prepare to be without him for this Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. Collins' absence would leave behind a ton of opportunity for WRs Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell. Xavier Hutchinson stepped in as Houston's No. 3 WR in the second half of last week's game but would be a desperation fantasy play.
Texans WR Tank Dell (chest) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. He's reportedly dealing with painful bruised ribs. We'll see if Dell can make it back for Week 5's game against the Bills. It's unclear how Dell's snaps will be divvied between WRs Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, and John Metchie. None is a viable Week 4 fantasy play. WR Nico Collins, WR Stefon Diggs, and TE Dalton Schultz could pick up extra targets with Dell out.
Texans WR Tank Dell is "unlikely" to play vs. the Jaguars this weekend, according to insider Aaron Wilson. Dell is dealing with "painful bruised ribs" suffered near the end of last week's loss to the Vikings, Wilson adds. The injury is not considered long term.
The Texans are releasing WR Noah Brown, according to insider Jordan Schultz. It's a slight surprise after Brown had a few big games when Houston was dealing with injuries to WRs Nico Collins and Tank Dell last year.
Texans WR Noah Brown suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of Saturday's game vs. the Browns and has been ruled out. That leaves WRs Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Xavier Hutchinson behind alpha dog Nico Collins.
Texans WRs Robert Woods (hip) and Noah Brown (back) did not practice on Tuesday. Both guys missed the Week 18 win over the Colts and are iffy for Saturday's Wild Card game vs. the Browns. Their absences last week left John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson as Houston's No. 2 and 3 WRs -- although neither made an impact. WR Nico Collins hogged 35% of the targets and posted a big 9-195-1 line.
Texans WR Robert Woods (hip) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Colts. He joins WR Noah Brown (back) on the inactive list. That leaves WRs Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie behind No. 1 WR Nico Collins. TE Dalton Schultz could play an expanded role in the passing game tonight.
Texans WR Noah Brown (back) is out for Saturday night's game vs. the Colts. WR Robert Woods (hip) is listed as questionable but didn't practice all week. WRs Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie might be forced into significant roles in this must-win game.
Texans WRs Noah Brown (back) and Robert Woods (hip) did not practice on Wednesday. Both guys were knocked out of last week's win and are in danger of missing Saturday night's game against the Colts. Their absences would leave Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie as Houston' No. 2 and 3 WRs behind Nico Collins. We'll see how Brown and Woods are listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
Texans WR Noah Brown dominated targets in Sunday's win over the Titans. His 11 looks marked 30.6% of the team's total pass attempts and more than doubled his nearest teammate. WR Robert Woods tied two others with 5 targets, catching three for 30 yards. He and Woods actually trailed rookie WR Xavier Hutchinson in routes, though. Hutchinson ran a route on 87.5% of Houston dropbacks, leading Brown by one route and Woods by five. Hutchinson went catchless on 3 targets. Brown has room to stay relevant against the Browns in Week 16. But he'll likely have to compete with WR Nico Collins, who missed Sunday's game but seems to be trending toward a Week 16 return. We'll watch the whole situation as we set our Week 16 rankings. Don't expect Hutchinson or Woods to be relevant over the final two fantasy weeks outside of deep leagues.
Texans WR Nico Collins (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. His injury reportedly isn't serious, but Collins is considered unlikely to play vs. the Titans this weekend. His absence would leave Houston with WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Xavier Hutchinson -- likely catching passes from QB Davis Mills.
Texans WR Nico Collins injured his calf in the first quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets and is questionable to return. Houston, of course, lost WR Tank Dell for the season last week. They're now down to WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Xavier Hutchinson.
Update: Collins has been ruled out.
Texans WR John Metchie (hamstring) is not listed on the final Week 2 injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. He’ll make his regular-season debut vs. the Colts this weekend. Metchie’s return is good timing with WR Noah Brown on IR. But it’s unclear who will pick up Brown’s snaps between Metchie, Tank Dell, and Xavier Hutchinson. None of those guys can be trusted in Week 2 fantasy lineups.
The Texans selected Iowa State WR Xavier Hutchinson in Round 6 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hutchinson opened his college career at Blinn (JUCO) before transferring to Iowa State. He led the Cyclones in receiving yards each of the past 3 seasons, capped by a 107-catch, 1,171-yard 2022 campaign. Hutchinson drew 34.1% of his team’s targets last year, accounting for 37.3% of the receiving yards and 31.6% of the TDs. He has decent size at 6’2, 203 pounds but tested as an average athlete at the Combine. Hutchinson projects as a short-range target at the next level and will likely need big volume to be a real fantasy asset. He joins a relatively wide-open WR corps in Houston alongside Nico Collins, Robert Woods, Noah Brown, Amari Rodgers, and fellow rookie Tank Dell.
