Texans WR Tank Dell is "unlikely" to play vs. the Jaguars this weekend, according to insider Aaron Wilson. Dell is dealing with "painful bruised ribs" suffered near the end of last week's loss to the Vikings, Wilson adds. The injury is not considered long term.
We'll keep an eye on Dell over the next few days, but he should be on Week 4 fantasy benches for now.
He's registered an 81% route rate and 15% target share through three games, so his absence would leave a lot of opportunity for Houston's other pass catchers.
Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson are fourth and fifth among Texans WRs in routes so far and could wind up splitting Dell's snaps this weekend. We could also see WR John Metchie make his 2024 debut. None of those guys are reliable fantasy plays.
Dell's absence would likely mean even more targets for WRs Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs. And it'd also make TE Dalton Schultz a more interesting Week 4 spot starter.
QB C.J. Stroud would take a slight hit without Dell, but he's still a rock-solid QB1 against a struggling Jacksonville pass defense.
