Texans WR Stefon Diggs will miss the remainder of the season with a torn right ACL. His season ends with 47 catches, 496 yards, and 3 TDs in less than 8 full games.
Here's HC DeMeco Ryans on the news:
‘It’s definitely a blow to us...He’s hurting, of course, and we’re hurting for him as well.”
Diggs’ absence removes about 8 targets per game.
Nico Collins should carry this passing attack if his hamstring allows. Recent reports have him on track to return from IR in Week 10.
Elsewhere, Tank Dell gets a clear boost in outlook. He’s proven highly volatile this season, seeing single-game target shares between 11% and 31%. Still, he should provide more consistent WR3+ value with Diggs sidelined.
We’ll see if Houston adds a WR at the trade deadline, as their depth pieces don’t inspire much confidence.
Robert Woods is well past his prime at 32. Xavier Hutchinson has 13 career catches; only 5 this season. John Metchie is in the same boat as a young player with no proven NFL production.
We're not rushing out to grab any of the WRs, but note that Hutchinson ranked a clear third in routes last Sunday.
TE Dalton Schultz figures to trend up in Diggs’ absence. His three highest targets per route run figures (Week 5, 6, and 8) have all come with Collins sidelined. He’s hit four catches in three of his past four outings.
C.J. Stroud remains a QB1 option, but he’s no longer a weekly must-start. He’s yet to finish as a top-12 fantasy QB without Collins.
That's a tough question to answer, as Diggs is scheduled for free agency in the spring.
He'll be 31 years old -- and likely find just a one-year deal. He showed that he has something left in the tank this year, posting 1.84 yards per route run in a short-range role. But after the major injury, Diggs should be considered questionable for Week 1 of 2025.
