The Texans have claimed WR Diontae Johnson off waivers from the Ravens, according to multiple reports. That marks his fourth team since the end of last season.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
This would have been an exciting move if Johnson had landed with the Texans instead of Baltimore when Carolina traded him away. But we've seen too much at this point.
There's obviously room for Johnson to get on the field for a team that just lost Tank Dell after losing Stefon Diggs earlier this season. Houston finished last week with Robert Woods as the No. 2 receiver.
But the Panthers and Ravens have each given up Johnson for basically no return within the past two months. He managed 1 reception on 5 total targets for his illustrious Baltimore career.
The Texans might get WR John Metchie back this week after he missed Week 16 with a shoulder injury. He and Woods stand as better bets to follow lead WR Nico Collins in playing time this week.
Johnson's probably not even worth a waiver look in fantasy football leagues that play through Week 18.
Dynasty Impact
It's a good sign for Johnson's longer-term outlook at least that another team was willing to claim him off waivers.
Johnson is set to hit unrestricted free agency in March and is bound to land with some team -- as long as he doesn't go full Antonio Brown over the next few weeks.
Hang on to Johnson in dynasty where it makes sense. His early-season flashes in Carolina show that talent isn't the issue with the 28-year-old.
