Deebo Samuel Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel is questionable to return to Saturday's game with a shoulder injury. He missed two games with a shoulder issue earlier this season. We'll see if he's able to return in the second half.

Update: Samuel was ruled out in the second half.

49ers QB Sam Darnold will start Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Rams, HC Kyle Shanahan announced Wednesday. QB Brock Purdy will join RB Christian McCaffrey on the sidelines for that one after San Francisco locked up the NFC's No. 1 seed. WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, and TE George Kittle are unlikely to play much, if at all, against the Rams.

Niners WR Deebo Samuel racked up a team-high 9 targets that converted into a 7-79 receiving line Thursday night against the Seahawks. Samuel’s lack of involvement since returning from his multi-week shoulder injury had been a concern (8 combined targets across weeks 10 and 11). Samuel now has four healthy games of 7+ targets, but also four in which he drew 4 targets or fewer. We'd certainly bet on him going higher than 4 targets per game the rest of the way. But Samuel will face weekly volume challenges. The 49ers rank last in the league at 28.1 pass attempts per game and continue to sport WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE George Kittle, and RB Christian McCaffrey. Samuel's remaining schedule ranks second-easiest for WRs per our adjusted fantasy points allowed, which obviously helps. Next week’s matchup vs. the Eagles looks particularly good. The Philly defense ranks fifth in passing yards allowed per game (248.1), and opposing QBs have posted the eighth-best passer rating (96.4) against them this season. The Eagles also play the run much tougher than the pass, which has motivated opponents to pass at the league's second-highest rate over expected. Samuel should sit comfortably inside our top 24 WRs across formats for that matchup. And he's likely to hover in that WR2 range the rest of the way.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel returned from a hairline fracture in his shoulder to post 59 total yards and 1 score vs. Jacksonville. His TD came from 23 yards out on a well-blocked end around. Samuel saw only 4 targets, tied for second on the team behind Christian McCaffrey (10). But he added 3 carries, his average rushing workload on the season. Samuel’s fantasy value figures to fluctuate going forward, as long as both Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle stay healthy. Still, there’s a clear top-15 ceiling here. San Francisco’s upcoming schedule ranks second best for fantasy WRs.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. Seemingly healthier than he’s been since Week 2, Samuel is back to WR2-with-upside status.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. It's confirmation that he's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars' 23rd-ranked WR defense. See where Samuel sits in the Week 10 WR Rankings.

When asked about his shoulder injury on the "Up & Adams" show on Thursday, 49ers WR Deebo Samuel said, "I'm ready to go." It sounds like we can expect Samuel to play vs. the Jaguars in Week 10, following San Francisco's Week 9 bye. We'll monitor his practice participation next week.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. We’ll see if he’s ready to return after San Francisco’s Week 9 bye. Jauan Jennings should operate as the 49ers’ No. 2 WR again this weekend but would be a desperation fantasy play.

HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Saturday that 49ers WR Deebo Samuel will miss at least two games with a hairline fracture in his injured shoulder. The team's bye follows that. We'll see whether he's ready to return for Week 10. Samuel's absence these next two weeks should help the target counts for WR Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle. Jauan Jennings stands next in line among WRs and could sneak into some deep value.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) remained sidelined on Friday. Samuel's injury reportedly isn't serious, but he's definitely in danger of missing Monday night's game vs. the Vikings. We'll see how Samuel is listed on the final injury report tomorrow.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) will not practice on Thursday, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Shanahan labeled Samuel "day-to-day," which seemingly means he has a chance to play vs. the Vikings on Monday night. Check back tomorrow for another update on Samuel.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan labeled WR Deebo Samuel "day-to-day" with his shoulder injury. It's confirmation that Samuel's injury isn't serious, but he shouldn't be considered a lock to play against the Vikings next Monday night. We'll keep you updated on Samuel's progress throughout the week.

Insider Jordan Schultz hears that the 49ers do not believe WR Deebo Samuel's shoulder injury is serious. "The team believes he 'will be fine,'" Schultz adds. "MRI will tell the full story." We should get another update on Samuel tomorrow, but it sounds like he at least has a chance to play Week 7.

X-rays on 49ers WR Deebo Samuel's shoulder came back clean, according to Pro Football Talk. Samuel is still scheduled for an MRI. We should learn more about his injury over the next 24 hours.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of Sunday's game vs. the Browns. He headed back to the locker room and is officially questionable to return.

Update: Samuel has been ruled out.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) is not listed on the final Week 5 injury report. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Thursday that Samuel will be "less than 100%" for Sunday night's game vs. the Cowboys, but it at least looks like he’s in better shape than he was last week. See where Samuel sits in the Week 5 WR Rankings. WR Jauan Jennings (shin) is also off the Week 5 injury report and will be back for Sunday night’s game.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (knee, ribs) will be "less than 100%" for Sunday night's game vs. the Cowboys, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Samuel played his normal snap rate with the knee and rib injuries last week but didn't draw a single target. He got in a limited practice on Wednesday after missing all three practices this week, so it looks like he's healthier heading into Week 5. But Samuel's fantasy profile takes a hit until we see that he's back to 100%.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice. That's an improvement over last week, when he didn't practice at all. Samuel didn't draw a single target last week but played 87% of San Francisco's offensive snaps. He should be healthier for Sunday night's game vs. the Cowboys.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. He didn't practice all week and said Friday that the knee is a bigger issue than the ribs. There’s obvious risk with Samuel today, although we haven’t heard anything about his snaps being limited. WR Jauan Jennings (shin) is inactive.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) is expected to play vs. the Cardinals today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Samuel didn't practice at all this week, so it's safe to assume he'll be playing at less than 100% today. It adds obvious risk to his Week 4 fantasy profile, although there's still plenty of upside in this matchup. See where Samuel sits in the Week 4 WR Rankings.
