49ers WR Deebo Samuel will miss "a couple of weeks" with a calf injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, HC Kyle Shanahan said.
Hopefully Shanahan is being honest with the "couple of weeks" timeline -- and not playing games that he did with RB Christian McCaffrey's injury.
Unless we get a more negative report on Samuel's timeline, he's worth keeping stashed in all fantasy leagues.
His absence leaves the 49ers without two of their Big Four weapons. WR Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle should see big target shares while Samuel is out. And RB Jordan Mason should continue to rack up a ton of carries.
Jauan Jennings figures to step in as San Francisco's No. 2 WR and might be a WR4 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues. Chris Conley and Ronnie Bell have been the fourth and fifth WRs the first two weeks of the season. Rookie WR Jacob Cowing has been handling return duties but has yet to play an offensive snap. None of those guys is worth adding to redraft rosters at this point.
WR Ricky Pearsall is eligible to come off the NFI list in Week 5, although it sounds like Samuel might be back that same week.
