The Steelers and 49ers have a deal on a potential trade and a new contract is in a good place for Aiyuk, the 49ers just need to sign off to get the deal done. The 49ers appear to be waiting on their contract offer to Aiyuk in hopes he will accept.
Ian Rapoport from NFL.com: "The Steelers and 49ers have a deal on a potential trade and PIT is in a good place on an Aiyuk contract, sources say. If SF gives the final sign-off, it's done. SF has an offer out to Aiyuk on a long-term deal for him to stay. He hasn't accepted."
The 49ers appear to be waiting on their contract offer to WR Brandon Aiyuk in hopes he will accept, but Aiyuk to the Steelers is the most likely end to this very soon.
The Steelers are not a great landing spot for Aiyuk's fantasy value. They will likely be run-centered with OC Arthur Smith and WR George Pickens will be on the other side of Aiyuk.
Though it may boost the Steelers' offense as a whole (including whoever the starting QB is), Aiyuk being on a higher-scoring offense with the 49ers would be better for his value, especially in the short term.
Pickens value would fall if Aiyuk is moved to the Steelers. Moving to the WR2 in a low volume offense doesn't bode well for Pickens week-to-week scoring upside.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel would get a boost as the focal point of the 49ers passing game, as well as TE George Kittle and new rookie WR Ricky Pearsall.
