Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara ran 15 times for 83 yards and a TD in a dominating game for the Saints against the Carolina Panthers. He also hauled in all five of his targets for 27 yards, providing a very solid PPR day for the veteran RB
Panthers WR Diontae Johnson was only able to bring in two of his six targets for 19 yards in the Panthers 47-10 loss against the New Orleans Saints. He was second on the team in targets behind rookie Xavier Legette.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson took advantage of his team's upset victory at Cincinnati with big production on the ground. He rushed 25 times for 120 yards (4.5 per carry) and the team's lone TD. Stevenson also played nearly four times as many snaps as No. 2 RB Antonio Gibson: 51-13, according to Pro Football Focus. Stevenson handled 78% of Patriots RB carries for the game and all three backfield targets. (He caught all three for just 6 yards.)
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray managed only 162 yards and 1 score in a Week 1 loss to Buffalo. He completed 21 of 31 passes.
Pitts caught all three of his targets for 26 yards and the only TD of the entire game against the Steelers. QB Kirk Cousins only completed 16 passes in the game, and Pitts was fairly quiet after his TD catch.
Falcons WR Drake London was only able to haul in two passes for 15 yards against the Steelers, drawing only three targets. QB Kirk Cousins only completed 16 passes in the game, and London drew four less targets than WR Ray Ray McCloud.
Steelers WR George Pickens caught 6 of his 7 targets for 85 yards from QB Justin Fields in Week 1 against the Falcons. Though the Steelers did not score a TD in the game, Pickens was a heavy part of the passing game.
Giants WR Malik Nabers caught five of seven targets for 66 yards against the Minnesota Vikings. He was the second most targeted player on Giants, behind WR Wan'Dale Robinson who caught 6 of his 12 targets in the game.
Vikings QB Sam Darnold was 19/24 for 208 yards including two TDs and an INT. He also added three yards on three rushes in the Vikings dominant 28-6 win over the Giants. He threw the touchdowns to WR Justin Jefferson and WR Jalen Nailor in the game.
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson had four receptions for 59 yards and a 3 yard TD in the second quarter. He was the primary target for Sam Darnold, especially with teammate Jordan Addison leaving the game with an ankle injury.
Vikings RB Aaron Jones had 14 rushes for 94 yards and a TD. He added two more receptions for 15 yards in the 28-6 win over the Giants.
Cowboys RB Dalvin Cook will not play in today’s opener vs. the Browns. Not a big surprise after he joined the team less than two weeks ago. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said this morning that Cook has looked good in practice and might play in the next week or two. Pelissero also said to expect a “pretty even split” of carries between RBs Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott.
Vikings WR Jordan Addison is out for the rest of Week 1 with an ankle injury. As beat writer Ben Goessling noted on X, Addison suffered a high-ankle sprain just last month. He tallied 3 catches for 35 yards before departing.
The season couldn't have started much worse for Packers TE Luke Musgrave. He didn't get hurt, but he did play way behind TE Tucker Kraft. Musgrave played on just 25% of Green Bay's offensive snaps in the loss to Philadelphia. Kraft stayed on the field for 64 of 67 plays. Kraft also ran 30 pass routes to Musgrave's eight.
Chargers RB Kimani Vidal is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Raiders. RBs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins will operate as the top two RBs. Vidal is worth keeping stashed in deeper fantasy leagues but isn't particularly close to fantasy relevance right now.
Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (thigh) is active for today’s game vs. the Broncos. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice and shouldn’t be limited today.
Patriots S Jabrill Peppers (hip) is active for today's game against the Bengals. He was a late addition to the injury report but appears good to go.
Texans RB Cam Akers is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Colts. Dameon Pierce will open the season as the No. 2 RB, despite being handily outplayed by Akers this preseason. We'd still expect both guys to be involved if RB Joe Mixon misses time this year.
Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) is inactive for today’s opener vs. the Falcons. He was pushing to play, but the team will hold him out after he aggravated his calf injury in practice this week. QB Justin Fields gets the start for Pittsburgh and is a more exciting fantasy option than Wilson. But Fields dings the fantasy value of the Steelers’ skill-position players. See where they all sit in the Week 1 Rankings.
Bears Edge Montez Sweat (toe) is active for today's game against the Titans. This seemed likely after he finished the week with a full Friday practice. Go ahead and play Sweat as planned in an upside matchup.
