Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Doug Pederson said Tuesday that he expected Engram to be "close" to being able to play vs. the Texans this weekend, but this isn't a good start. We'll see if Engram is able to get back on the field tomorrow.
Broncos LB Alex Singleton suffered a torn left ACL in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. HC Sean Payton had to confirm the injury after practice Wednesday because Singleton played through it for the rest of the game. The LB later reported soreness, and MRI confirmed the tear. He'll miss the rest of the season. Denver has Cody Barton, Justin Strnad, and Kristian Welch on the roster at non-edge LB. The Broncos also signed LBs Kwon Alexander and Zach Cunningham to the practice squad Wednesday. Barton is the best early bet to lead the group in playing time but is far from a sure thing to maintain that role the rest of the way.
Broncos WR Courtland Sutton was targeted early and often by QB Bo Nix with seven catches on 11 targets for 68 yards.
Broncos QB Bo Nix ran nine times for 47 yards and TD and threw 36 times completing 25 passes for 216 yards. Most importantly, he did not have an interception in the upset win against the Buccaneers.
Broncos WR Devaughn Vele is inactive for today's game vs. the Bucs. He missed Week 2 with a rib injury but was left off the final Week 3 injury report. WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey figures to continue handling slot duties for Denver's struggling passing game.
The 49ers left S Talanoa Hufanga off the final Week 3 injury report for the first time this season. That should mean the first action for Hufanga since he suffered an ACL tear in Week 11 last season. I wouldn't bet on the safety getting a full workload, and there's likely more risk than reward to playing Hufanga in IDP lineups. But we'll see how quickly he can ramp back up to full duty. Expect Hufanga to reclaim the position that George Odum and Malik Mustapha have covered the first two weeks.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday night's game vs. the Bills. He didn't practice all week. Brenton Strange will get another game as Jacksonville's lead TE after posting a 3-65-0 line on six targets last week.
Broncos WR Devaughn Vele (ribs) is off the injury report and will be back for Sunday’s game vs. the Bucs. The rookie ranked third among Denver WRs in pass routes (31) and tied for second with eight targets in the opener. Hopefully you don’t need him in season-long leagues, but Vele could be a cheap flier in DFS tournaments.
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson said it's "kind of a week-to-week deal" with TE Evan Engram's hamstring injury. Engram was injured in pre-game warmups on Sunday -- after inactives were turned in -- and did not play. He has an extra day to get ready ahead of next Monday night's game vs. the Bills.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram is OUT for Week 2 and will not play after sustaining an injury during warm-ups. The Jaguars TE had a mediocre Week 1 and there was hope that he would bounce back for this week, but a hamstring injury cropped up while he was warming up for the game.
Broncos WR Devaughn Vele (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers. The rookie ranked third among Denver WRs in pass routes (31) and tied for second with eight targets in Week 1. He played 79% of his snaps in the slot. Lil’Jordan Humphrey played the second most slot snaps among Broncos WRs in the opener and looks like the most likely replacement for Vele against Pittsburgh. WR Marvin Mims could also pick up some extra playing time.
The Broncos are sending rookie RB Audric Estime to IR with an ankle injury. The Athletic's Nick Kosmider says only that Estime will "miss at least four games," which makes it sound like a shorter-term issue.
Broncos WR Courtland Sutton managed only 4 catches for 38 yards in a Week 1 matchup at Seattle. Sutton led the team with 12 targets but struggled to click with rookie QB Bo Nix.
Broncos S Brandon Jones missed much of training camp with a hamstring injury and didn't play in any of the team's three preseason contests. But he said after Sunday's finale that he "should be ready" for the regular-season opener, according to the Denver Gazette. Jones returned to practice last week after sustaining his injury on the first day of camp.
Broncos HC Sean Payton named QB Bo Nix his starting QB on Wednesday. This was the most likely scenario when Denver took Nix with the 12th overall pick of this spring's draft. Nix bolstered his case with two strong preseason outings, completing 76.7% of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with two TDs and zero INTs.
Broncos WR Troy Franklin has struggled in training camp, but the Broncos appear to want to keep developing him slowly. With the team preferring veterans like Tim Patrick, Franklin could be in line for a redshirt or special teams year only.
Broncos WR Troy Franklin has been battling drops in camp and appears to be low on the depth chart. Camp reports have him behind the Broncos Seventh Round Pick WR Devaughn Vele.
Broncos WR Troy Franklin is no higher than fifth on the depth chart right now, according to insider Benjamin Allbright. Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and Josh Reynolds are the top three WRs, with Tim Patrick looking like the No. 4, per Allbright.
Broncos WR Courtland Sutton agreed to restructure his contract. He could earn up to $15.2 million with $1.5 million added incentives.
The Athletic's Nick Kosmider chose WR Marvin Mims as the Broncos' breakout player this season. Kosmider notes that WR Jerry Jeudy's departure opens up opportunity for Mims, and that HC Sean Payton promised more work for Mims in his second season.
