Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr. is active for today's game against the Saints. He has been out since suffering a high ankle sprain late in Week 1. S Jordan Whitehead (groin) and DT Calijah Kancey (calf) are also active. It'll be Kancey's first appearance of the season.
Cardinals K Matt Prater (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. Chad Ryland will kick again for Arizona after connecting on three of four FGs last week, including the game-winning 35-yarder.
Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He figures to slide back in as Tampa Bay’s No. 3 WR but isn’t a legitimate fantasy option.
Colts WR Josh Downs (toe) is active for today’s game vs. the Titans. He only practiced on Friday, so it’s likely that Downs won’t be at 100% for this one. But he's in the WR3 mix with QB Joe Flacco getting the start.
Colts WR Michael Pittman (back) is active for today’s game against the Titans. He went from supposedly being an IR candidate on Wednesday to a full participant in practice on Friday. Pittman still carries added risk in Week 6 fantasy lineups, although QB Joe Flacco getting the start helps his chances.
Buccaneers RB Rachaad White (foot) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. That leaves Bucky Irving, Sean Tucker, and D.J. Williams in the backfield. Irving should dominate work and is a strong RB2 in Week 6 fantasy lineups.
Packers WR Christian Watson (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. He was limited in practice all week and still probably isn’t at 100%. We’d try not to use Watson in Week 6 fantasy lineups, but his return makes WR Dontayvion Wicks an extremely shaky fantasy play. Watson was playing ahead of Wicks before the ankle injury.
Colts QB Joe Flacco will start today's game vs. the Titans, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) will serve as the emergency third QB. Flacco played well in the Week 5 loss to the Jaguars, throwing for 359 yards and three scores. Today's matchup is tougher, so Flacco is not a recommended QB1 play. But he's good news for WRs Josh Downs and Michael Pittman.
Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He’s been out since Week 2 and got in just two limited practices this week. That adds obvious risk to Mixon’s profile, although he’s still worth starting for many fantasy teams. See where Mixon sits in the Week 6 Rankings.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Bears due to a hamstring injury. He lost one yard on three carries and dropped his only target before exiting. Etienne's absence leaves Jacksonville's backfield to Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson.
Jaguars WR Gabe Davis (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Bears. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable. Davis, who’s averaging just 2.4 catches and 32 yards per game, is a weak fantasy play.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Bears. It’ll be his first action since hurting his hamstring in pre-game warmups ahead of Week 2. Engram was limited in practice all this week. He comes with elevated risk but is still probably worth using for many fantasy teams. See where Engrams sits in the Week 6 TE Rankings.
Cardinals K Matt Prater (knee) is "unlikely" to play vs. the Packers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Arizona elevated K Chad Ryland from the practice squad on Saturday. Look for Ryland to handle kicking duties today.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) "should play" vs. the Titans, today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Richardson is listed as questionable, but that seems more like gamesmanship by the Colts to keep their opponent guessing about their starting QB. Richardson practiced all week, including a full workout on Thursday. There's still a chance his mobility is limited today, though, making him a risky QB1 play. See where Richardson sits in the Week 6 QB Rankings.
There's "optimism" that Raiders RB Zamir White (groin) will play vs. the Steelers today, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "He’s considered more of a game-time decision," Fowler adds. It sounds like White is not a lock to play but is better than 50/50 to do so. We won't get Vegas' inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET. White should not be in your Week 6 fantasy plans, but this news makes RB Alexander Mattison a much shakier play. Try to avoid the Raiders backfield this week.
Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls White a "long shot" to play. He should obviously be on fantasy benches. We'd still try not to use Mattison. He's not an exciting play even if White ends up inactive.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Patriots today. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable. We're projecting Mixon's workload to be scaled back a bit in his first action since Week 2, but he still checks in 15th among RBs in the Week 6 Rankings.
Bills CB Taron Johnson is questionable for Monday night's game against the Jets. Joe Buscaglia of the athletic says "the long wait for [Johnson's] return looks like it will end on Monday night." Johnson -- out since Week 1 with a forearm fracture -- practiced without his non-contact jersey for the first time Thursday but remained limited all three days. We'll check his status head of Monday night's kick. Buffalo has ruled DT Ed Oliver (hamstring) out for the game.
Saints RB Kendre Miller (hamstring) has been activated from IR, putting him on track to make his 2024 debut against the Bucs on Sunday. Ace beat writer Nick Underhill does not expect Miller to have a "significant role out of the gates." But, if he can stay healthy, Miller is plenty capable of emerging as New Orleans' No. 2 RB -- and the Alvin Kamara handcuff. Miller is worth stashing now in deeper fantasy leagues.
Insider Jordan Schultz confirms that Bengals RB Chase Brown (quad) will play against the Giants on Sunday night. HC Zac Taylor said the same on Friday, despite Brown ending up questionable on the final injury report. It doesn't sound like the quad will be an issue vs. New York. Brown figures to continue splitting the backfield with Zack Moss and is a borderline RB2 for Week 6 fantasy lineups.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Jets. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday this week. While there have been multiple reports that RB James Cook is expected to play through his questionable tag, there's been no such update on Shakir. Between the late kickoff and a matchup with the Jets' 11th-ranked WR defense, Shakir should be on fantasy benches at this point. WR Curtis Samuel will step in as Buffalo's primary slot receiver if Shakir doesn't play.
