Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Dolphins Edge Jaelan Phillips (oblique) is active for today's game against the Panthers. He missed the past two contests and indicated during the week that he wasn't sure whether he'd be ready. Don't be surprised if he plays a smaller snap share then usual. But there's plenty of upside to make him worth a slot in IDP lineups. Edge Andrew Van Ginkel -- who has seen playing-time boosts in Phillips' absence -- remains an upside play for this contest as well.

Panthers Edge Brian Burns (ankle) and DT Derrick Brown (knee, ankle) are active for today's game against the Dolphins. Brown still looks like a risky play after a limited week of practice.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports that the Lions are "planning" for TE Sam LaPorta (calf) to be active for this afternoon's game vs. the Bucs. It's not quite a guarantee -- but all signs point toward LaPorta playing. We'll get Detroit's inactives a little before 3 pm ET.

Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. Oren Burks looks like the best bet to run second among 49ers LBs in playing time.

Ravens S Kyle Hamilton got ejected midway through the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Titans after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Titans WR Chris Moore. The play clearly earned the personal-foul call, but Hamilton's ejection seemed to surprise everyone. We wouldn't bet on it costing him further game time.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Browns. He figures to slide back in as the No. 2 RB but would be a desperation fantasy start.

Browns TE David Njoku (face, hand) is active for today’s game vs. the 49ers. We’re not too worried about his burn injuries, but Njoku is not a recommended TE1 with Cleveland sporting a laughably low 13.0-point implied total.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins (ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. We haven’t heard anything about his snaps being limited today with what’s reportedly a pain-management issue. But there’s still some risk of re-injury. See where Higgins sits in the Week 6 WR Rankings.

Texans WR Robert Woods (ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so he should be ready for a full slate of snaps today. With WR Tank Dell out with his concussion, Woods is a viable WR4 in PPR leagues.

Texans WR Tank Dell (concussion) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. The rookie gets a Week 7 bye and should be cleared to return for Week 8.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (knee) is expected back when first eligible in Week 11. On IR, Achane is out for the next four games, and Miami has a Week 10 bye. The rookie is worth keeping stashed in all fantasy leagues.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson is "strongly considering" season-ending surgery to repair the damaged AC joint in his throwing shoulder, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Richardson and the Colts sought four or five different opinions on the shoulder, "with a procedure deemed by some as the best option to fully heal his right throwing shoulder," per Rapoport. The labrum in Richardson's shoulder is not torn, Rapoport adds, and the ligaments "looked better than expected." But Richardson's long-term health is more important to the Colts than his short-term availability. We'll keep you updated on Richardson, who can still be stashed in deep fantasy leagues. But fantasy owners should start plan on being without him for the rest of the season.

Patriots QB Mac Jones will be on a "short leash" vs. the Raiders today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "A poor opening few series could potentially trigger another QB to take snaps in Las Vegas," Rapoport writes. It's unclear, though, whether QB Bailey Zappe or QB Will Grier would replace Jones. Rapoport adds that New England has a package of plays ready for rookie QB Malik Cunningham. It's obviously a situation to stay far away from in Week 6 fantasy lineups.

Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (shoulder) is active for this morning's game against the Titans. The rookie makes his NFL debut alongside Justice Hill and Gus Edwards in Baltimore's backfield. Mitchell shouldn't be in season-long fantasy lineups but might be worth stashing in deeper leagues as we monitor his role.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) is out for tonight's game vs. the Bills. But he has a "legitimate chance" to return for Week 7 against the Commanders, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. We'll track Jones' progress this coming week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweets that Lions TE Sam LaPorta (calf) is "trending in the right direction" for today's game vs. the Bucs. LaPorta is "expected to work out pre-game to finalize whether he can play," Schefter adds, so he's not a sure thing. It's a 4:25 pm ET kickoff, so we won't get Detroit's inactives until a little before 3 pm ET. LaPorta can be penciled into fantasy lineups, but it'd be wise to have another late-game TE rostered just in case the rookie ends up inactive.

Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (illness) is expected to play vs. the Rams this afternoon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Brown got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday and should be ready for his usual role today.

The Giants are “optimistic” and “hopeful” that RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) will play vs. the Bills tonight, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweets. The Giants "want to make sure there are no setbacks," Schefter adds. "But they 'feel good about it', so signs point up." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has a similar report, saying "it's not 100%" but that there's a "real chance" Barkley returns tonight. It'd be nice to get a sure-fire report, but it continues to sound more likely than not that Barkley plays tonight. He can stay penciled into fantasy lineups, ideally with a late-game alternative also rostered. Matt Breida, Latavius Murray, Damien Harris, and Joshua Kelley qualify.

Bills TE Dawson Knox (wrist) is expected to play vs. the Giants tonight, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. No word on TE Dalton Kincaid, who's listed as questionable with a concussion. Kincaid should not be in Week 6 fantasy lineups at this point. And Knox is only worth considering if we hear that Kincaid will not play tonight.

Giants TE Darren Waller (groin) is expected to play against the Bills tonight, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The general state of New York's offense is a bigger concern for Waller than the groin. See where he sits in the Week 6 TE Rankings.
