Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram is OUT for Week 2 and will not play after sustaining an injury during warm-ups. The Jaguars TE had a mediocre Week 1 and there was hope that he would bounce back for this week, but a hamstring injury cropped up while he was warming up for the game.
The Eagles have downgraded WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) to out for Monday night's game against the Falcons. Brown, of course, has been dealing with an injury that popped up during the practice week. His absence elevates Jahan Dotson to the No. 2 WR spot and makes him a decent fill-in option. TE Dallas Goedert also could benefit on the target-share front.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner (back) is active for today's game against the Packers. The Colts D will also have Edge Kwity Paye (questionable, hamstring) but miss S Julian Blackmon, who was ruled out earlier in the week. The matchup with Packers backup QB Malik Willis is driving the strength of this matchup for the Indy team defense more than any individual player.
Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. He missed practice all week and never seemed to have much of a chance to play in this one. We’ll see if Ferguson can make it back for Week 3. TEs Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford split work after Ferguson exited the opener. Neither is a viable Week 2 fantasy play.
Lions WR Jameson Williams (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Bucs. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so there’s some additional risk here. But Williams also boasts exciting upside in this likely shootout.
Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Colts. The rookie is not a fantasy option in his debut, but we’ll be curious to see how many snaps he plays compared to RB Emanuel Wilson. Lloyd remains the preferred handcuff to Josh Jacobs.
Packers QB Jordan Love (knee) is officially inactive for today’s game vs. the Colts. He’s reportedly eyeing a Week 5 return. QB Malik Willis, who sports a career 52% completion rate and 5.2 yards per attempt, gets the start today. Expect a run-heavy game plan from Green Bay.
Packers WR Jayden Reed (calf, shin) is active for today’s game vs. the Colts. He was added to the injury report on Friday, which adds risk to his Week 2 profile. QB Malik Willis’ play is just as big a concern. Reed sits in low-end WR4 territory in the Week 2 Rankings.
Seahawks RB Ken Walker (oblique) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Patriots after missing practice all week. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 3. RB Zach Charbonnet should control backfield work today and is a solid RB2 in fantasy lineups.
Chargers WR Josh Palmer (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday and then did not practice on Friday. It’s safe to assume Palmer won’t be at 100% today. Try to avoid him in fantasy lineups.
Colts WR Josh Downs (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. The team is wisely playing it safe with his return from a high-ankle sprain. Downs should be back for Week 3, but we’ll track his progress this coming week. His absence keeps Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce, and Adonai Mitchell locked in as Indianapolis’ clear top three WRs.
Packers QB Jordan Love (knee) is targeting a Week 5 return, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Though there is a chance he beats that goal," Rapoport adds.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) has no plans to retire, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We passed along earlier that Tagovailoa is meeting with neurologists about his latest concussion, and it sounds like he'll be doing so to formulate a plan to get back on the field. Rapoport confirms, though, that there's currently no timeline for Tagovailoa's return. It took him over a month to clear the protocol the last time he suffered a concussion back in 2022. Expect Tua to miss multiple games with his latest head injury.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles) "is likely to be out six weeks or potentially more," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said this morning.
Packers RB rookie MarShawn Lloyd will make his NFL debut this week as the Packers take on the Indianapolis Colts. Lloyd missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury that had ailed him for much of the preseason. He is presumed to be the back-up to RB Josh Jacobs.
Buccaneers CB Zyon McCollum has cleared the concussion protocol and will play today against the Lions, ESPN's Jenna Laine reports.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagaovailoa will meet with neurologists this week after sustaining another concussion in Thursday night's loss to the Bills, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Tagovailoa will be seeking their input into the severity of his latest concussion and the cumulative effect of the ones he has suffered in the past to make the most informed decision about his future," Schefter writes. Tagovailoa contemplated retiring after suffering multiple concussions in 2022, so we have to believe that's on his mind now. At a minimum, he's likely looking at a multi-game absence. The Dolphins will turn to QB Skylar Thompson at least for Week 3. We'll see what they add to the position. Free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill seems like the easiest short-term fix.
Rams WR Puka Nacua could miss 5-7 weeks with his PCL injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Packers WR Jayden Reed (calf, shin) is expected to play vs. the Colts today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Reed was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Friday. The injuries add more risk to a guy who already had a low floor with QB Malik Willis under center. Reed checks in just 46th in the Week 2 WR Rankings.
Colts WR Josh Downs (ankle) is "50/50" for today's game vs. the Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "High-ankle sprains can linger and the team wants to make sure he has zero issues before he plays," Rapoport adds. We'll get Indianapolis' inactives around 11:30 am ET, but Downs should not be in your Week 2 fantasy plans.
