San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers TE George Kittle (ribs) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Cardinals. He only got in a limited practice on Friday. Kittle played through this injury in the second half of last week’s game, so we’re tenatively expecting him to play against Arizona. But we’ll look for further updates on his status. We won’t get San Francisco’s inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET on Sunday.

49ers TE George Kittle (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday. He played through this issue in the second half of last week's win over the Patriots, so we're expecting him to be available for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. But his status bears monitoring over the next few days.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has been dealing with tendinitis in both Achilles, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco. It's still unclear when he started having these issues (it was reported as a calf injury all August) but helps explain why McCaffrey has had so much trouble getting on the field. McCaffrey is expected to ramp up his rehab this week, although it sounds like Week 10 is his likeliest date to return to game action.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel returned from a calf injury to record 3 catches for 58 yards against New England. He added two carries and didn’t have his routes or snaps limited.

49ers TE George Kittle is questionable for the second half of Sunday's game vs. the Patriots with a rib injury. He caught all three of his targets for 38 yards and a score in the first half. We'll update Kittle's status when we know more.

Update: Kittle returned for the second half.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday – and we haven’t heard anything about a snap count for him today. There’s some risk of an in-game aggravation of his calf injury, but Samuel checks in as a risk/reward WR2 in the Week 4 Rankings.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) is expected back "at least by early November," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. San Francisco has a Week 9 bye in the first week of November, which makes it sound like Week 10 vs. the Bucs on November 10 is McCaffrey's likeliest return date. HC Kyle Shanahan said Friday that CMC's rehab would start ramping up this coming week, and Rapoport hears that McCaffrey is ready to resume running on the field. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his progress.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) is expected to play vs. the Patriots today. It's a slight surprise after HC Kyle Shanahan said previously that Samuel was expected to miss a couple of weeks. Samuel got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, though, and will evidently suit up today. There's always some risk of an in-game aggravation of soft-tissue injuries, but unless we get a report of Samuel being limited today, he belongs in most fantasy lineups. His return -- along with TE George Kittle's -- makes Week 3 breakout Jauan Jennings tough to trust in fantasy lineups this week.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Patriots. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Samuel was originally expected to miss a couple of weeks with his calf injury, so we’re still projecting him to miss this game. But we’ll look for further updates on his status. We won’t get San Francisco’s inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET on Sunday.

49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring) is not listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots. He practiced all week, including a full session on Friday. It all suggests that Kittle is ready for a full slate of snaps this weekend. Get him back into fantasy lineups.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is back with the team, GM John Lynch said Friday. McCaffrey recently traveled to Germany for treatment on his Achilles tendinitis. "Now, we can start the process of building back up," GM John Lynch said.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) put in a limited practice on Thursday. It was his first practice since going down near the end of Week 2's loss to the Vikings. Samuel seemingly has a shot to play vs. the Patriots this weekend. We'll see how he's listed on Friday's final injury report.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (back) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. It's confirmation that he'll be good to go for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. Purdy's Week 4 outlook will get a boost if TE George Kittle (hamstring) is able to return.

49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That should put him on track to play vs. the Patriots this weekend, but we'll see how Kittle progresses over the next few days. Kittle's return would dent WR Jauan Jennings' upside, although he'll still be in play as a WR3 as long as Deebo Samuel remains out.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Kyle Shanahan said last week that he expected Samuel to miss "a couple of weeks," so he's unlikely to play vs. the Patriots on Sunday. We'll let you know if his Week 4 outlook changes.

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that DT Javon Hargrave is expected to need surgery for a triceps tear and miss the rest of the season.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that he's hoping to get TE George Kittle (hamstring) back at practice this week. That suggests that Kittle has a chance to play against the Patriots on Sunday. We'll keep you updated on his status throughout the week.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is seeing a specialist in Germany about his lingering Achilles tendinitis, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. "Those treatments likely involve therapies designed to increase blood flow — and thus the healing process — in his sore Achilles," The Athletic's Matt Barrows writes.

49ers QB Brock Purdy is "day-to-day" with back soreness, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. Purdy had an MRI that came back clean, per Shahanan, and the team is hopeful that he'll be able to practice on Wednesday. It doesn't sound like this is something that'll impact Purdy's Week 4 outlook, but we'll keep an eye on him this week.

We knew 49ers WR Jauan Jennings would step into a larger role in Week 3. The 49ers entered the game without Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. But Jennings turned in an unbelivable showing with 11 catches, 175 yards, and 3 TDs.
