We knew 49ers WR Jauan Jennings would step into a larger role in Week 3. The 49ers entered the game without Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. But Jennings turned in an unbelivable showing with 11 catches, 175 yards, and 3 TDs.
Even factoring in a great matchup vs. the Rams, this is still a truly shocking outcome. Even more so when you compare Jennings' production alongside Brandon Aiyuk's 10 targets, 5 catches, and 48 yards. Aiyuk again struggled to make catches he usually secures.
On the day, Jennings drew a 40%(!) target share from Brock Purdy. The 27-year-old made contested catches on deep passes, while two of his three TDs came on end zone balls.
Christian McCaffrey will miss Week 3. Deebo Samuel will likely sit out, too.
We'll see about George Kittle, who's rehabbing a hamstring issue. But after today's explosion, Jennings' role figures to remain prominent for a tougher Week 4 date vs. New England. He'll be a hot waiver wire pickup and a potential WR3 for that one.
