Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Titans WR Calvin Ridley (foot) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. We still don't have any details on this foot injury, but Ridley's availability for this weekend's game vs. the Lions is up in the air. His absence would leave Tennessee without its top two WRs at the start of the season, after WR DeAndre Hopkins was traded to Kansas City earlier this week. The rest of the WR corps: Tyler Boyd, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Jha'Quan Jackson.
Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins snagged 4 of 6 targets for 63 yards in Sunday’s win vs. the Bengals. Teammate Nick Westbrook-Ikhine hauled in a TD in the contest to go along with 5 catches and 51 yards of his own. Despite WR Treylon Burks missing Week 4, TE Chigoziem Okonkwo didn’t factor into the passing game very much. He only saw 3 targets turn into 5.9 PPR points. Next up for the Titans is a Week 5 matchup vs. the Colts.
Titans WR Treylon Burks (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. It looks like he injured his knee in Wednesday's practice, but we don't have any other details. Burks' absence leaves Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as Tennessee's No. 2 WR and boosts WR DeAndre Hopkins' target projection.
Update: HC Mike Vrabel said after Friday's practice that Burks is only expected to be sidelined about a week. This knee injury isn't related to the LCL sprain he suffered in mid-August.
Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins drew a target on 38.2% of QB Ryan Tannehill's 34 pass attempts in Sunday's season-opening loss at New Orleans. He caught 7 of 13 targets for a mere 65 yards. WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine ranked second on the team in each category, with 7 targets, 4 receptions, and 58 yards. WR Treylon Burks drew just 3 targets, catching two for 18 yards. Hopkins should be an easy start for a Week 2 home date with the Chargers -- and would continue to be if the target distribution remains similar. Burks belongs on fantasy benches until he proves otherwise.
Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. That leaves Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as Tennessee's top 2 WRs once again -- and keeps TEs Chig Okonkwo and Austin Hooper in play for fantasy lineups.
Titans WR Treylon Burks (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday. He now looks like a long shot to be cleared in time for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers. That'll keep Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine atop the WR depth chart -- and keep TE Chig Okonkwo in play as a fantasy spot starter.
Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught a team-leading 6 passes for 45 yards and a TD on 6 targets in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. TE Austin Hooper and WR Robert Woods tied for 2nd on the team with 5 receptions apiece, in a game that saw QB Ryan Tannehill throw or 254 yards. WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine drew a team-high 8 targets but caught just 3. He did snag Tannehill's other TD.
Titans TE Treylon Burks (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. That leaves Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as Tennessee’s top 2 WRs – and could mean more targets for TEs Austin Hooper and Chig Okonkwo.
Titans WR Treylon Burks caught 4 of 6 targets for 70 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Most of that yardage came on a 51-yard contested catch in the 3rd quarter. His biggest play, however, came early in the 2nd quarter. That's when the rookie recovered a Derrick Henry fumble in the end zone for the team's only TD. WRs Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine matched Burks for the team target lead. Westbrook-Ikhine caught 4 for 58 yards. Woods managed only 2 receptions for 16 yards.
Titans WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine racked up 119 yards and 2 TDs on 5 catches among a team-high 8 targets in Sunday's win over the Broncos. QB Ryan Tannehill's return from an ankle sprain obviously helped. But this was Westbrook-Ikhine's 1st game with a reception since Week 5 and just the 2nd time all year he exceeded 40 yards. Expect this performance to remain an outlier as opposed to the start of something.
Titans WR Treylon Burks (toe) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Commanders, as expected. The rookie figures to miss multiple weeks with his turf toe. Burks’ absence leaves Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as Tennessee’s top 2 WRs, with Kyle Phillips likely taking over in the slot.
Rookie WR Treylon Burks led the Titans with 6 targets in Monday night's loss to the Bills, catching 4 of them for a team-high 47 yards. He climbed to 3rd among Tennessee wideouts in playing time, 1 spot higher than Week 1. Fellow rookie WR Kyle Philips sank to 4th, playing just 23% of offensive snaps and drawing only 1 target. WR Robert Woods caught 4 of his 5 looks for 39 yards. TE Austin Hooper and WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine drew 4 targets apiece but managed only 1 reception each.
Titans WR Treylon Burks played the 4th most snaps among Tennessee wideouts in Sunday's loss to the Giants. At 37% playing time, he trailed Robert Woods (71%), Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (68%) and fellow rookie Kyle Philips (48%). Burks saw nice involvement after a less-than-stellar preseason, though, finishing 2nd on the team in targets (5). The 1st-round pick caught 3 of those for 55 yards. He saw his 1st action on the team's initial possession. And the 2 incomplete passes thrown Burks' way were an end-zone target and a deep look that could have drawn a defensive PI call. Burks will still make for an iffy option in Week 2 fantasy lineups, but it was an encouraging start. Philips led the team in targets (9), receptions (6) and receiving yards (66). Woods and Westbrook-Ikhine each caught just 1 ball for 13 yards among 2 targets apiece.
Titans beat writer Joe Rexrode writes that WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine “continues to make strides as a playmaker.” Last year, Westbrook-Ikhine posted 38-476-4 after a non-existent rookie season. There’s not much in his profile to get excited about, but the 25-year-old does bring plus size at 6’3, 219 pounds. Potential opportunity is the biggest selling point here, as Robert Woods is coming off an ACL tear and Treylon Burks has struggled with his conditioning. Still, Westbrook-Ikhine is just a late-round flier in deep formats.
The Titans have placed WR Julio Jones and WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine on the COVID list. We'll see whether either guy can make it back for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but neither should be in your Week 17 fantasy football plans. Tennessee also placed EDGE Bud Dupree on the list Monday. We'll see whether any more Titans get added through the week.
The Titans have placed WR A.J. Brown on IR for his chest injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's not expected to end his season, so we should see him back at some point in December. But the earliest he can return is Week 16. Tennessee has its bye next week. That means Brown will -- at best -- make it back for the final 2 weeks of most fantasy leagues' seasons. If you play in a league with tight roster restrictions, Brown might be a drop candidate. Julio Jones will be eligible to come off IR after the bye. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chester Rogers will lead the group this week, with Marcus Johnson out.
Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. He didn't practice all week, so his status for Week 13 and beyond is uncertain. WRs Julio Jones and Marcus Johnson are also out, leaving Tennessee with WRs Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Dez Fitzpatrick and Chester Rogers. It's a very tough spot for Ryan Tannehill against the league's 2nd-ranked QB defense.
