Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Dolphins RB De'Von Achane entered Thursday night's game vs. the Bills as questionable with an ankle injury. You wouldn't have known it watching the game. Achane was as explosive as ever -- and handled a big workload. He carried 22 times for 96 yards (4.4 YPC) and caught all seven of his targets for 69 yards and a score. The TD came from five yards out in the first quarter on a well-designed play. Achane ran a swing pattern to QB Tua Tagovailoa's right and had FB Alec Ingold swing out in front of him to block. Achane surprisingly remained in the game deep into the fourth quarter -- after Tagovailoa had exited with his concussion and WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle had been pulled. It was a curious decision from HC Mike McDaniel, but Achane seemingly came out of the game without suffering a setback.
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel didn't even want to talk about a potential timetable for return for QB Tua Tagovailoa after his latest concussion. "The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline," McDaniel said after the loss to the Bills. "We just need to evaluate and just worry about my teammate, like the rest of the guys are. We will get more information tomorrow and take it day by day from there." Tagovailoa was able to walk off the field under his own power, has movement in all extremities, and was "in good spirits" afterward, McDaniel said.
After being limited in practice all week with a Questionable tag, Dolphins RB De'Von Achane is active and starting tonight's game. With RB Raheem Mostert out for the game, RBs Jeffery Wilson and Jaylen Wright (both are also active) will also be included, but Achane should lead the way with no restrictions.
There's "optimism" about Dolphins RB De'Von Achane's availability for tonight's game against the Bills, according to NFL Network. Achane is listed as questionable after only getting in a limited practice on Wednesday. But Miami media noted that Achane didn't seem to be hobbled in the open portion of that Wednesday practice.
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that RB Raheem Mostert will miss Thursday night's game against the Bills because of a chest injury. That leaves the backfield to De'Von Achane (if he plays) and Jeff Wilson Jr. -- and likely means Miami will activate rookie RB Jaylen Wright.
Dolphins RB De'Von Achane suffered an ankle injury against the Jaguars in Week 1 and appears headed to be game-time decision on Thursday Night Football against the Bills. With RB Raheem Mostert already out, RBs Jeffrey Wilson Jr. and Jaylen Wright will both have increased touches in Week 2.
Dolphins RBs De'Von Achane (ankle) and Raheem Mostert (chest) did not practice on Tuesday. We noticed both guys temporarily exit the Week 1 win over Jacksonville, but they both returned and finished out the game.
Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Jaguars. It's a tad surprising, but we never expected Wright to have a significant Week 1 role behind RBs De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert. Wright is still a strong stash on fantasy benches. Remember that Achane was a healthy scratch in last year's opener.
Dolphins WR Malik Washington (quad) is out for Sunday’s opener vs. the Jaguars. The rookie went from limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday to no practice on Friday. With WR Odell Beckham on the PUP list, Miami is woefully thin at WR entering Week 1. Braxton Berrios will be the No. 3 WR on Sunday. Grant DuBose is currently the only other WR on the roster besides Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. RB De’Von Achane and TE Jonnu Smith could be big parts of the passing game this weekend.
The Dolphins kept just four WRs on their initial 53-man roster (Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Braxton Berrios). NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe speculates that it might mean more WR snaps for RB De'Von Achane.
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel plans to diversify RB De'Von Achane's role and get him the ball in more ways this season. Smart idea. Achane averaged an NFL-record 7.8 yards per carry last year. There's seemingly still meat on the bone in the passing game, though, where Achane averaged just 7.3 yards per catch.
The Dolphins added Tennessee RB Jaylen Wright in Round 4. Wright is one of the most explosive RBs in this year’s class. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry over his three college seasons, including a huge 7.4 yards per carry in 2023. 14.0% of Wright’s runs last year went for 15+ yards – the second-highest rate among this year’s top-25 RB prospects. So it wasn’t a big surprise when he blazed a 4.38-second 40 time at 5’11 and 210 pounds. Wright isn’t just a pure speed back, though. He runs with plenty of power, averaging 4.35 yards after contact per attempt last year – fifth among 157 qualifying RBs. Wright played in a spread offense at Tennessee that afforded him some huge running lanes. He’ll have a transition to make to his NFL scheme. But his combination of size, explosiveness, and long speed can’t be taught. Wright also proved capable in the passing game this past year, catching 22 balls for 141 yards. We see a lot of Lamar Miller in his game. Wright adds more speed to an explosive Dolphins offense, although he’ll be challenged to find playing time behind De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert. Mostert recently inked an extension that keeps him in Miami through the 2025 season.
Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (knee, ankle) got in a limited practice on Tuesday. It's a good sign after he missed five of six practices over the previous two weeks. Mostert is expected back for Saturday night's Wild Card game vs. the Chiefs, but it's still unclear how big a workload he'll be ready to handle.
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane tallied 10 carries for 56 rushing yards and a TD in Week 18 vs. the Bills. The rookie also caught one pass and added 5 yards as a pass-catcher in Sunday night’s contest. Though injuries to Achane’s shoulder, knee, and toe limited him to 11 games in 2023, the speedster was able to finish as the RB5 in PPR points per game (17.3) and lead the league with a gaudy 7.8 yards per carry (YPC). To put that number into context, consider that Achane’s 7.8 YPC ranks first among all RBs with at least 100 carries over the past 20 seasons combined. The next closest player in that span is former Chiefs great Jamaal Charles’ 6.4 YPC in 2010. Injury concerns aside, there’s no dismissing the game-breaking, big-play capability that Achane demonstrated with the Dolphins this year. He won’t turn 23 until October of 2024 and should be considered as one of the most valuable, albeit volatile, dynasty RB assets moving forward.
