D'Andre Swift Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He's fully expected to play vs. the Bears this weekend, but it certainly doesn't look like he'll be ready for a full workload.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. That's an improvement from last week, when Swift did not practice at all on Wednesday. We'll continue to monitor Swift's health over the next few days, leading up to Sunday's game vs. the Bears.

Lions HC Dan Campbell said Monday that RB D'Andre Swift avoided a setback in Sunday's win over the Packers. Swift played just 16% of the offensive snaps in that one, finishing with 2 carries and 3 catches on 4 targets. "We're hopeful we can give him a little bit more this week," Campbell said. We'll monitor Swift's status this week, but he can't be considered more than a RB3 or flex play until we see his volume grow.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift collected just 2 carries (for 10 yards) and 3 receptions (among 4 targets) in Sunday's win over the Packers. He delivered a solid 40 yards receiving, ranking 2nd on the team. But the low usage fell in line with signals from HC Dan Campbell through the week that Swift's role would be limited. We'll see what the coach has to say leading up to the Week 10 visit to Chicago. RB Jamaal Williams amassed 24 carries for 81 yards against Green Bay.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. He got in just limited practices on Thursday and Friday this week and is expected to play a limited role today.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) is expected to play vs. the Packers today. He'll be "in a limited role like last week," Schefter adds. "Lions are trying to manage Swift’s snaps to get the most out of him." Swift actually played 55% of Detroit's offensive snaps last week but finished with just 5 carries and 5 targets. He carries a wide range of outcomes in Week 9 fantasy lineups. See where Swift sits in the RB Rankings.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. HC Dan Campbell said Friday that the “plan” is for Swift to play but that they’ll need to "see where he's at." After tallying just 5 carries and 5 targets last weekend, Swift is no better than a risk/reward RB2 in Week 9 fantasy lineups.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. We're expecting him to suit up for this weekend's game vs. the Packers. But Swift won't be at 100% and figures to be on a touch count.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. He was a full participant all last week before handling just 5 carries and 5 targets in the loss to Miami. HC Dan Campbell admitted earlier this week that Swift still isn't at 100%. We're still expecting him to play against the Packers on Sunday, but don't expect Swift to get a full workload.

Lions HC Dan Campbell made it clear Tuesday that RB D'Andre Swift still isn't back to 100%. “We probably gave Swift one too many carries,” Campbell said of his Week 8 usage. “We love Swift. Glad he’s out there, but he’s not back." Swift played 54% of Detroit's offensive snaps in the loss to Miami but finished with just 5 carries and 5 targets. That followed a full week of practice. It doesn't sound like we should expect significantly more work in this Sunday's game vs. the Packers.

The Lions are trading TE T.J. Hockenson to the Vikings, along with a 2023 4th-round pick and a 2024 conditional 4th-round pick, in exchange for a 2023 2nd-round pick and 2024 3rd-round pick, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. It's surprising for a few reasons, most notably because it's an intra-division trade and involves a former 1st-round pick still on his rookie deal. Hockenson counts just $6.5 million against this year's salary cap and has a $9.3 million 5th-year option for 2023. He's been slightly underwhelming through 3+ NFL seasons considering he was the 8th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. But Hockenson's 44.0 receiving yards per game since 2019 rank 10th among TEs. He's averaged a career-best 56.4 yards per game so far this year and ranks 7th among 31 qualifying TEs in Pro Football Focus' 2022 receiving grades. Minnesota is an OK spot for Hockenson's rest-of-season fantasy value. He'll obviously be behind WR Justin Jefferson in the pecking order but could challenge WR Adam Thielen for the #2 spot. And the Vikings have been a pass-leaning offense this year, ranking 7th at 38.0 pass attempts per game. (The Lions rank 15th at 35.7.). Hockenson will face negative fantasy-scoring matchups the next 2 weeks vs. Washington and Buffalo, but the schedule looks nice after that. Detroit, meanwhile, is left with TEs Brock Wright and James Mitchell. Wright is the preferred add but is probably only worth a look in TE-premium leagues like the FFPC. RB D'Andre Swift and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown should pick up more targets with Hockenson gone.

Lions RB D’Andre Swift returned in Week 8 to post only 10 total touches. He was out-carried 10-5 by Jamaal Williams but salvaged his fantasy day with 5 catches and a TD while isolated on a LB. Detroit jumped out to a big lead in this one before trailing over the final 15 minutes. While perhaps the team simply eased Swift back into action, it’s worth nothing that he participated fully in practice last Wednesday-Friday. We’ll see if his workload grows this week against Green Bay.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final Week 8 injury report. He’ll return for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins and should be ready for a full workload.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He was limited all last week before missing the Cowboys game. Barring a setback, he should return for Sunday's game against Miami.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cowboys. He got in 3 limited practices this week, seemingly giving him a good chance to be back for Week 8. Swift’s absence today leaves RB Jamaal Williams as Detroit’s lead ball-carrier vs. the Cowboys’ 5th-ranked RB defense. See where Williams sits in the Week 7 RB Rankings.

The Lions don’t expect RB D’Andre Swift (shoulder) to play Sunday against the Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. That would keep Jamaal Williams in the backfield lead, with Craig Reynolds and Justin Jackson factoring in for minor roles

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys. We’re tentatively expecting Swift to return for that one – but it’s clear that he’s still not at 100%. See where Swift sits in the Week 7 RB Rankings.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He's seemingly on track to play vs. the Cowboys this weekend, but we'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. It'd have been nice to see a full practice coming off the bye, but Swift seems on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Cowboys. He told reporters that he's "pushing toward" playing on Sunday. Check back for another update on his status.

Lions RB Jamaal Williams once again easily led the team in rushing in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, taking 15 carries for 56 yards. Craig Reynolds and Justin Jackson combined for another 9 carries. Reynolds gained 24 yards on 6 rushes while also leading the backfield in routes (17) and targets (3). Jackson garnered 3 carries and 1 target, while also running 1 more route than Williams. Detroit now gets a Week 6 bye, and then RB D'Andre Swift is expected to be ready to return. Expect Williams to remain a rushing factor beyond Swift's return. But he doesn't look like a great bet to own the receiving work if Swift goes down again.
