Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Commanders WR Curtis Samuel (foot) is a game-time decision for today's tilt with the Eagles, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "There is optimism about his status, but the team wants to see him work out," Rapoport adds. We'll get Washington's inactives around 11:30 am ET. Samuel will obviously carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he suits up.
ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Browns QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is not expected to land on IR. That move likely would have happened on Saturday if it was coming. The Browns "will continue to be cautious" with Watson, who's considered week-to-week, per Schefter. But a source tells him, "unlikely that it’s longer than two weeks" for Watson's return.
Browns RB Jerome Ford (ankle) "wants and intends" to play vs. the Seahawks today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "But Cleveland wants to see how he looks and feels in pre-game warmups before allowing it," Schefter adds. Ford returned to a limited practice on Friday after suffering what Schefter reported as a low-grade high-ankle sprain just last week. It's safe to assume that he'll be at less than 100% if he suits up. We'd try to avoid using Ford in Week 8 fantasy lineups. His presence would be a ding to RB Kareem Hunt's Week 8 outlook, although he'd still be in the RB3 mix. We won't get Cleveland's inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET.
Texans WR Robert Woods is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his foot injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Woods is out for today's game vs. the Panthers, and it sounds like he'll also miss Week 9. His absence can't be bad news for WRs Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
Colts RB Zack Moss "wants to see how his foot feels once he puts pressure on it in pre-game warmups before deciding whether he can play vs. the Saints" today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Moss is officially questionable with heel and elbow injuries after only getting in a limited practice on Thursday. It's safe to assume he'll be at less than 100% if he does end up active later today.
The Bears have downgraded S Jaquan Brisker (illness) to out for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler confirms that Titans QB Will Levis is expected to start and get the majority of the snaps vs. the Falcons on Sunday. "But [QB Malik] Willis will have packages and heavy involvement in the game plan," Fowler adds. "Could end up being roughly 75-25 as far as play time." We don't envision this going well for Tennessee. You should obviously avoid Titans QBs in all fantasy formats.
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (knee) was not activated from IR and won't play vs. the Ravens on Sunday. He'd been listed as doubtful. Murray was a full participant in practice this week, though, so a Week 9 return seems possible. We'll track his status this coming week.
The Broncos placed WR Brandon Johnson (hamstring) on IR. Johnson has seemingly been standing in the way of a full-time role for WR Marvin Mims. But before you get too excited about the rookie, we need to tell you that Denver elevated WR Tre'Quan Smith from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Smith, of course, has a history with HC Sean Payton from their New Orleans days. We'll keep a close eye on Mims' usage vs. the Chiefs on Sunday, but he'd still be a total flier in Week 8 fantasy lineups.
Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (back) is not listed on the final Week 8 injury report and will start Monday night's game vs. the Lions. Garoppolo's return is good news for Vegas' skill-position players, but he's a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups.
Raiders K Daniel Carlson (groin) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Lions. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday. Look elsewhere for your Week 8 fantasy kicker.
Lions RB David Montgomery (ribs) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Raiders. He didn't practice all week but will get a Week 9 bye to heal up. Montgomery's absence on Monday should mean another busy outing for RB Jahmyr Gibbs, who handled 11 carries and 10 targets on an 87% snap rate last week.
QB Brock Purdy has cleared the concussion protocol and will start Sunday for the 49ers against the Bengals. We’ve been expecting this outcome and switched from Sam Darnold to Purdy in our Week 8 rankings on Friday
Steelers DL Cameron Heyward returned to practice this week after being out since Week 1 with a core injury. He close out the week with a full Friday practice. Pittsburgh hasn't yet activated him from IR, though. Steelers Depot says he won't play against the Jaguars in Week 8. But the veteran appears to be trending toward a return by Week 9. Heyward's return could alter a Pittsburgh run defense that has played soft this season. We'll watch for further developments in his status.
Chargers S Alohi Gilman (heel) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears. Gilman got back to a full practice Friday after two limited workouts. He appears on track to return after missing the past three games. We'll confirm his status Sunday.
Bears S Jaquan Brisker (illness) and S Eddie Jackson (foot) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Brisker missed practice all week. Jackson closed out the week with a full Friday practice. He seems to be on track to play. We'll check both Sunday.
The Ravens have ruled S Marcus Williams (hamstring) out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals
Jaguars S Andre Cisco (hamstring) and CB Tyson Campbell (hamstring) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Both guys put in limited practices all week. We'll check their statuses Sunday.
Rams LB Ernest Jones (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He played through the same issue the past two games, though, and managed limited practices all week. We're betting Jones will play.
Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell is questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Campbell has been out since Week 3 with a sprained ankle but put in three limited practices this week for the first time since his initial injury. We'll check his status Sunday.
