Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Niners WR Deebo Samuel was a full participant at Wednesday's practice. He missed Week 8 with a hamstring injury but looks ready to face the Chargers coming out of the bye week. He should be back in your fantasy football lineups and sits inside the top 20 in our Week 10 fantasy football rankings.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was on the field for Monday's post-bye-week practice, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. That seemingly puts Samuel on track to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Chargers. We'll get San Francisco's first official practice report of the week on Wednesday.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) has been designated to return from IR. He's now eligible to practice and be placed on the active roster whenever ready. Mitchell has been sidelined since going down with a sprained MCL in the season opener. While he was out, of course, San Francisco traded for RB Christian McCaffrey. So Mitchell will return as the #2 RB -- and just a handcuff in fantasy football. We'll see if he's ready to play vs. the Chargers on Sunday night.
The Packers have ruled LB De'Vondre Campbell (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Lions. DC Joe Barry said earlier in the week that rookie LB Quay Walker would take over play-calling duties if Campbell couldn't go. That should mean full playing time for Walker, who has moved up our Week 9 IDP rankings. EDGE Preston Smith (shoulder, neck) is questionable for the game after being limited in practice all week.
Niners WR Brandon Aiyuk caught all 6 of his targets in Sunday's win over the Rams. He tallied 81 yards and caught a TD throw from RB Christian McCaffrey. San Francisco went without WR Deebo Samuel. McCaffrey led the team in targets and receptions, with TE George Kittle (5 targets) following McCaffrey and Aiyuk. QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 21 of 25 passes (84%) for 235 yards and TDs to McCaffrey and Kittle.
Niners RB Christian McCaffrey accounted for TDs running, receiving and even passing in Sunday's win over the Rams. He posed an 18-94-1 rushing line, claiming 81.8% of San Francisco's RB carries. He also led the 49ers in targets (9) and receptions (8), ranked 2nd in receiving yards (55) and snagged 1 of QB Jimmy Garoppolo's 2 TD throws. McCaffrey also hit WR Brandon Aiyuk for a score from 34 yards out early in the 2nd quarter. McCaffrey dominated backfield work in his 2nd appearance with the team. San Francisco gets a Week 9 bye and then plays at home 4 of the next 5 games.
Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell left in the 2nd quarter of Sunday night's game against the Bills with a right-knee injury. He was shown walking to the locker room with ice on the knee but is questionable to return.
Update: Campbell has been ruled out for the game.
49ers WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Rams. He joins WR Deebo Samuel on the sidelines for this one, leaving WRs Ray-Ray McCloud, Danny Gray and Willie Snead behind Brandon Aiyuk.
The 49ers have ruled LB Dre Greenlaw (calf) and DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Rams. Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles looks like the fill-in for Greenlaw. Armstead will be missing his 4th straight game.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Rams. He leaves behind 7.7 targets per game, which should mostly be absorbed by WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE George Kittle and RB Christian McCaffrey. San Francisco could also lean on the running game more with Samuel out. WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He's in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Rams. We'll see if Samuel practices Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report. WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) also missed practice again on Thursday.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Kyle Shanahan labeled Samuel "day to day" on Monday, but his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Rams is in question. WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) also missed Wednesday's practice. We'll get another update on both guys tomorrow.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel is "day to day" with a hamstring injury, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. This sounds like a relatively minor issue, but hamstrings can be tricky. We'll keep a close eye on Samuel's status throughout the week, leading up to Sunday's game vs. the Rams.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw left Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a right-calf injury and did not return. If he misses further time, the snaps would likely go to Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles. He stepped in for 56% playing time against K.C. LB Azeez Al-Shaair is already on IR with an MCL sprain that's expected to sideline him beyond Week 10.
The 49ers stayed with their stated plan for RB Christian McCaffrey in his 1st game with the team Sunday. He played 22 total snaps -- 28% of the team total -- logging 8 carries for 38 yards and 2 catches for 24 yards (on 2 targets). Jeff Wilson Jr. led the backfield in playing time and ran for 54 yards on 7 carries. He matched McCaffrey in routes but went without a catch on just 1 target. Rookie Tyrion Davis-Price mixed in for 2 carries (4 yards) and 2 targets (0 catches). We'd bet on a big shift toward McCaffrey for the Week 8 visit to the Rams. Don't plan on using Wilson in your fantasy football lineups.
Niners S Talanoa Hufanga (concussion) and CB Charvarius Ward (groin) are active for today's game against the Chiefs.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the 49ers' initial plan is to get RB Christian McCaffrey "about 20 snaps" vs. the Chiefs today. Glazer adds that that could change based on the flow of the game. 20 snaps is about one-third of the game. Of course, what matters for fantasy is how many touches McCaffrey gets on those snaps. He remains a risk/reward Week 7 fantasy play. See where McCaffrey sits in the Week 7 RB rankings.
New 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to play Sunday against the Chiefs. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the team has a “package of plays” for him after McCaffrey dove into learning the offense. We’ll all be guessing at just how much McCaffrey gets the ball. Check Sunday morning for our most up-to-date projections
Niners S Talanoa Hufanga (concussion) and CB Charvarius Ward (groin) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) has been ruled out. It'll be the 3rd straight game he has missed.
Niners EDGE Nick Bosa is off the injury report and ready to play Sunday's game against the Chiefs. S Talanoa Hufanga (concussion) is questionable. He managed just a single limited practice and seems unlikely to play. CB Charvarius Ward (groin) is questionable as well. The 49ers have ruled DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) out.
