Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's a long shot to be cleared in time for this weekend's game vs. the Titans. It'll likely be QB Davis Mills at the controls for Houston.
Texans Edge Will Anderson Jr. suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Jets, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston reports. Anderson was in a walking boot Wednesday, which certainly doesn't bode well for his chance of playing this weekend. Anderson is likely droppable (where rostered) for most redraft IDP leagues.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, putting him on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Titans. It's good timing for the Texans, who lost WR Tank Dell for the season and will likely be without WR Nico Collins this weekend. But Schultz would be tough to trust as a TE1 if QB Davis Mills is under center.
Texans WR Nico Collins (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. His injury reportedly isn't serious, but Collins is considered unlikely to play vs. the Titans this weekend. His absence would leave Houston with WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Xavier Hutchinson -- likely catching passes from QB Davis Mills.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He still has multiple stages of the concussion protocol to pass through and is unlikely to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Titans. Stroud's absence would leave QB Davis Mills at the controls for Houston. Mills is a capable backup but would be in a tough spot without WR Tank Dell and likely WR Nico Collins.
Multiple reports indicate that Texans WR Nico Collins isn't expected to be out long with the calf injury that cost him Week 14. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston reports Collins is "improving" and that he has yet to be ruled out for this week. But Patrick Storm of Texans Wire calls the WR "highly unlikely" to play. We're leaving Collins out of the Week 15 WR rankings for now but will certainly be watching for a shift. It seems Collins should be on track for a Week 16 return if he can't go this weekend.
Bills WR Stefon Diggs dragged down your fantasy lineup if you played him in Week 14. He managed just 4 receptions for 24 yards in the loss to the Chiefs. But his 11 targets led the team and accounted for 26.2% of Buffalo's total pass attempts for the game. The No. 6 PPR receiver for the season has just three bad fantasy outings all season, but all have come within the past four games. This marked the first time he fell short of 13.6 PPR points on double-digit targets, though. And Diggs dealt with basically shadow coverage from Chiefs lead CB L'Jarius Sneed. He gets a challenging matchup with Dallas in Week 15, but then a positive spot against the Chargers and a fairly neutral matchup with the Patriots in Week 17.
Texans HC Demeco Ryans confirmed after Sunday's loss to the Jets that QB C.J. Stroud is in the concussion protocol. It's Stroud's first documented concussion. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week, but Stroud is more likely than not to miss Sunday's game vs. the Titans. His absence would leave QB Davis Mills under center for Houston -- a huge downgrade for the offense.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets. His head slammed to the ground, so he'll at least be checked for a concussion. Stay tuned for an update.
Update: Stroud is being checked for a concussion and is officially questionable to return. He won't return to this 27-6 game, but if he's diagnosed with a concussion, he'll be unlikely to play next week.
Texans WR Nico Collins injured his calf in the first quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets and is questionable to return. Houston, of course, lost WR Tank Dell for the season last week. They're now down to WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Xavier Hutchinson.
Update: Collins has been ruled out.
The forecast for today's Texans-Jets game calls for a near 100% chance of rain. Winds will be at 10-15 mph with potential gusts of 30+. Tough conditions for the passing and kicking games. This over/under has dropped from 38.5 to 33.0. The Texans are implied for only 18.0 points. Check out the updated projections for this game.
Texans K Ka'imi Fairbairn (quad) was not activated from IR for Sunday's game against the Jets. Matt Ammendola will kick again for Houston in that one but isn't a recommended fantasy starter with the Texans' implied total at just 18.25 points.
The Buccaneers have ruled LB Devin White (foot) out for the second straight game. That should mean a start for rookie LB SirVocea Dennis, who's off the final injury report after missing last week with an illness. LB LaVonte David is also ready to return after missing the past two games with a groin injury. Check our Week 14 LB rankings to see where each guy lands. David's week of full practices and his upside matchup has moved him way up vs. the start of the week. Tampa Bay has also ruled out CB Jamel Dean (ankle, foot). DT Vita Vea (toe) is questionable after missing all three practice days. His status shouldn't impact many IDP lineups, but his absence would improve the matchup for Falcons RBs.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) is out for this weekend’s game vs. the Jets. He was limited in practice on Wednesday but sidelined on Thursday and Friday, so it looks like he suffered a setback. Brevin Jordan will again operate as Houston’s lead TE on Sunday after posting a 3-64-0 line on five targets last weekend.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday. That followed a limited workout on Wednesday. It's unclear whether this was a planned day off or if Schultz suffered a setback. We'll learn more tomorrow.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That gives him a chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Jets. We'll track his progress over the next few days.
Texans WR Tank Dell underwent surgery on his fractured fibula on Monday and will miss the rest of the season, HC Demeco Ryans said. Ryans added that Dell should be ready for the start of the offseason program, so this injury shouldn't impact his 2024 fantasy outlook. Dell averaged 8.4 targets, 5.1 catches, 77.3 yards, and 0.9 TDs in eight games with a snap rate north of 50%. His 2.24 yards per route run ranks 15th among 69 WRs with 40+ targets -- and third among 12 rookie WRs with 40+ targets. Tied to QB C.J. Stroud, Dell looks like a WR2 target in 2024 fantasy drafts and a top-25 dynasty WR.
Texans WR Nico Collins ended Sunday with a 9-191-1 receiving line, reaching new career highs in receptions and receiving yards in Week 13 vs. the Broncos. This is the third time in 2023 that Collins has eclipsed the 100-yard mark and found the end zone in the same game. It’ll be vital for Houston’s offense that he maintains this success in the aftermath of rookie WR Tank Dell leaving the contest in the first quarter with a broken fibula. Fantasy managers were already starting Collins in lineups, but those seeking a Dell replacement should look no further than Noah Brown. While he didn’t record a catch on either of his 2 targets, Brown paced Collins with 100% route participation and snap rate in Week 13, clearly serving as the Texans' WR2. Plus, he’d recorded back-to-back 100+-yard efforts that yielded top-6 PPR finishes between Week 9-10 prior to being sidelined by a knee injury. Keep an eye out for Brown on the waiver wire.
Texans WR Tank Dell has been diagnosed with a fractured fibula and will be placed on IR, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Dell will miss at least four games and is likely done for the regular season. We'll look for a more concrete timetable for his return. Dell's injury is a hit to QB C.J. Stroud's fantasy value but leaves behind a lot of opportunity for Houston's other pass catchers. Nico Collins will be the clear No. 1 the rest of the way, with WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, and John Metchie behind him. We'll have more on those guys in this week's waiver wire article.
Texans WR Tank Dell's left ankle got rolled up on in the first quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He had to be carted back to the locker room. It's safe to assume his day is over. Let's hope the rookie is able to play again this season.
