Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Rams WR Puka Nacua (knee) is expected to miss "at least another month." Glazer throws out Week 8 as a potential return target for Nacua. That closely matches the 5-7 week timetable we got from ESPN's Adam Schefter after Nacua aggravated his knee injury in the opener. Fantasy players who have kept Nacua stashed since that injury should keep stashing. He still has WR1 fantasy upside over the second half of the season.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer confirms that Rams WR Cooper Kupp (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 5 vs. the Packers. Kupp then gets a Week 6 bye and has a good chance to return for Week 7's meeting with the Raiders. We'll keep you updated on his progress. Kupp owners should continue keeping him stashed on benches.
The Titans are likely to be without DT Jeffery Simmons on Monday night against the Dolphins. He's doubtful with an elbow injury. They also might miss CB L'Jarius Sneed and/or S Amani Hooker. Sneed is questionable with a hamstring issue. He had been listed for just a rest day earlier in the week but turned up limited Saturday. Hooker is questionable because of a gash on his right cheek that required eight stitches. The team also placed CB Chidobe Awuzie on IR Saturday with a groin injury. Tennessee's D remains in play for fantasy use because of the QB trouble in Miami. But the injuries add downside risk.
Jaguars LB Devin Lloyd (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Texans. With LB Foye Oluokun already on IR for a foot injury, that leaves Ventrel Miller and Chad Muma as the top 2 LBs for the game. It's tough to know exactly how much playing time to expect for either reserve. Oluokun dipped to 80-85% as the corps leader over the first two weeks, with Miller and Muma rotating in more than the Nos. 3-4 LBs did over the past couple of seasons. Each guy is a low-level IDP option for Week 4, though, with upside beyond their spots in our rankings. S Darnell Savage (quad) is also inactive.
Panthers WR Diontae Johnson (groin) is active for today’s game vs. the Bengals. He sat out Thursday’s practice because of what he said were poor field conditions before returning to a limited practice on Friday. HC Dave Canales said Johnson looked "great" on Friday. He seems relatively safe to keep in Week 4 fantasy lineups.
Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. He returned to a limited practice on Friday, which should put him on track to play in Week 5. His absence today – along with RB Dameon Pierce’s – leaves Cam Akers as Houston’s lead back again. He’ll lose passing-down snaps to RB Dare Ogunbowale but is a serviceable RB3 or Flex play with the Texans 5.5-point home favorites.
Jaguars WR Gabe Davis (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. He was listed as questionable after being limited in practice all week. Davis would be a shaky Week 4 fantasy play.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (hip, ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. There was some early-week uncertainty about Kamara’s availability for this one. But he seemed to progress nicely throughout the week, getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. We haven’t heard anything about Kamara’s role being reduced today.
Saints WR Chris Olave (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. The hamstring injury he suffered in Friday’s practice was evidently minor. It still adds real risk to his Week 4 fantasy profile, though. Check your Team Intel page to see if Olave makes sense in your starting lineup.
Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Colts. QB Justin Fields gets another start and sits 12th in the Week 4 QB Rankings.
Packers QB Jordan Love (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. He’s a little over three weeks removed from spraining his MCL and likely won’t have his usual mobility today. That could be an issue against a blitz-heavy Minnesota defense. Love sits well into QB2 territory in the Week 4 Rankings. But his return is excellent news for Green Bay's WRs and TEs.
Bucs WR Jalen McMillan (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Eagles. The rookie hurt a hamstring in practice on Friday and could miss multiple games. Trey Palmer will slide in as Tampa’s No. 3 WR today but isn’t a fantasy option.
Bucs RBs Rachaad White (illness) and Bucky Irving (hamstring) are active for today’s game vs. the Eagles. White dealt with food poisoning late in the week, while Irving got in just limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. This is one of the tougher backfields to predict in Week 4 after Irving out-carried White last week. See where both guys land in the RB Rankings.
Bears WR Keenan Allen (heel) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday, so Allen should be ready for a full slate of snaps. He led Chicago with 11 targets in the opener (although he caught just four for 29 yards).
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) is expected back "at least by early November," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. San Francisco has a Week 9 bye in the first week of November, which makes it sound like Week 10 vs. the Bucs on November 10 is McCaffrey's likeliest return date. HC Kyle Shanahan said Friday that CMC's rehab would start ramping up this coming week, and Rapoport hears that McCaffrey is ready to resume running on the field. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his progress.
Joe Mixon will not play against the Jaguars today. He feels good, but the Texans are giving him another week off to ensure he is fully recovered from his ankle injury. RB Cam Akers will be the starter with RB Dameon Pierce also out for another week.
Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson is expected to come off the PUP list "this week or shortly thereafter," per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hockenson tore his right ACL/MCL on December 24.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are expected to open the practice window for RB Nick Chubb (knee) this week. Once the team makes that move, they'll have three weeks to promote him to the active roster.
Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is a game-time decision for today's tilt with the Jaguars, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mixon only got in a limited practice on Friday. Mixon "has worked hard to be back and even though it seems to be an uphill climb to play, he hasn't given up trying. He'll test it out," Rapoport tweeted. That sounds like Mixon is on the wrong side of 50/50 to play against Jacksonville. We still have him projected out as of now but will adjust the RB Rankings if Mixon ends up active.
Bears WR Keenan Allen (heel) is expected to play vs. the Rams today, HC Matt Eberflus said. That's seemed likely since Allen put in a full workout on Friday. There's some added risk here with Allen coming off a two-game absence. But he drew 11 targets in the opener and gets a leaky Rams secondary today. See where Allen lands in the Week 4 WR Rankings.
