Zay Jones Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Jaguars WR Zay Jones was added to Thursday's injury report with an ankle and did not practice. That obviously puts his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Eagles in question. We'll have a better idea of Jones' status when we get Jacksonville's final injury report tomorrow.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence had a terrific outing in Sunday's surprising lopsided victory over the Chargers. He completed 71.8% of passes for 262 yards and 3 TDs on the road, finding WRs Zay Jones, Christian Kirk and Marvin Jones for scores. That trio also finished top 3 for Jacksonville in targets, with Zay Jones leading the group in targets (11), receptions (10) and yards (85). Next comes a tough road trip at a Philly defense that has shut down Minnesota and Washington the past 2 weeks.

Jaguars WR Christian Kirk had an efficient Sunday, catching all 6 of his targets for 78 yards and a pair of TDs in the 24-0 win over the Colts. Kirk trailed TE Evan Engram by 2 targets but earned a solid 20% share of QB Trevor Lawrence's total attempts. The QB went 25-of-30 passing for 235 yards and the 2 scores to Kirk. Engram hauled in 7 of his 8 looks for 46 yards. Marvin Jones and Zay Jones again tracked close with Kirk in routes, while Engram increased his rate vs. Week 1 to join them. We'd bet on this quartet seeing a lot of the field together, with Kirk the most common target leader. The Joneses caught 3 passes apiece against Indy, with Marvin garnering 5 targets and Bay 4.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that former Raiders WR Zay Jones will be signing a 3-year, $24 million deal with the Jaguars that could be worth up to $30 million. Jones enjoyed a nice 2nd half to 2021 with the Raiders, but the former 2nd-round pick has mostly disappointed through 5 NFL seasons. It's tough to get excited about his upside with a team that is also adding WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram to an offense that returns RB Travis Etienne from IR and still sports WR Laviska Shenault and TE Dan Arnold. Jones' arrival could be a bad sign for Marvin Jones, who has just 1 year left on his contract and would provide $3.5 million in cap savings if cut this offseason.
