Nick Foles Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Colts released QB Matt Ryan. The no-brainer move saves $17.2 million against the 2023 salary cap. Ryan has had a strong NFL career, but the soon-to-be 38-year-old's tank is clearly empty. He mustered just 6.6 yards per attempt with 14 TDs vs. 13 INTs in 12 outings this past season. We'll see if Ryan snags a backup job elsewhere, but he's well off the fantasy radar. The Colts are left with QBs Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger but figure to be eyeing the position with the 4th overall pick of next month's draft.

Colts QB Nick Foles is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Giants with a rib injury. He was in a lot of pain and had to be carted back to the locker room. We'll update his status when we know more. With QB Matt Ryan inactive, QB Sam Ehlinger will replace Foles.

Update: Foles has been ruled out.

The switch to QB Nick Foles did not work Monday night against the Chargers. The veteran backup tossed 3 INTs and took 7 sacks in the loss, compiling only 143 yards on 17-of-29 passing. TE Jelani Woods led the receiving with 43 yards, while WR Michael Pittman Jr. was the only Colt to catch more than 3 passes. Interim HC Jeff Saturday still said after the game that he has "no reservations" about switching to Foles and that he still plans to start the vet for the final 2 games.

Colts HC Jeff Saturday announced on Wednesday that the team will start QB Nick Foles in Week 16 vs. the Chargers. ESPN's Dan Graziano also reports the plan is for the team to bench Matt Ryan for the remainder of the 2022 season. Fantasy managers can consider Foles a fringe QB2 option this week, though better options are likely available. The Chargers rank as the 13th-toughest matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Going from Ryan to Foles is essentially a lateral move fantasy-wise.

Colts QB Matt Ryan (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Commanders. HC Frank Reich said earlier this week that the team planned on turning to QB Sam Ehlinger regardless of Ryan’s health. QB Nick Foles will be the backup this weekend.

The Colts have agreed to a 2-year deal with QB Nick Foles, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Foles most recently played for the Bears but previously played under then-OC Frank Reich with the Super Bowl-winning Eagles. His Indianapolis role under HC Reich will obviously be to back up new Colts QB Matt Ryan.

The Bears released QB Nick Foles. The 33-year-old will look for a backup job elsewhere. QB Trevor Siemian sits behind QB Justin Fields in Chicago.

Bears QB Andy Dalton will start Sunday's game vs. the Giants, HC Matt Nagy announced on Friday. QB Nick Foles will be the backup, so QB Justin Fields evidently isn't ready to return from that ankle injury. Dalton is just a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups, although he's not a significant downgrade from Fields for Chicago's skill-position guys.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. Someone named Ryan Willis will back up QB Nick Foles.

Bears HC Matt Nagy said Friday that QB Nick Foles will start Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. QB Andy Dalton (left hand, groin) is out for Week 16, while QB Justin Fields (ankle) was unable to practice on Thursday or Friday. Nagy said that Fields might be active on Sunday, but it'd be as Foles' backup. Foles made 7 starts for the Bears last season, averaging 238 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT on a 66% completion rate and 5.9 yards per attempt.

Bears QB Andy Dalton (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions after a limited week of practice. HC Matt Nagy has yet to name a starter after saying earlier in the week that Dalton, Justin Fields and Nick Foles were all in consideration. We'll let you know as soon as we hear who's getting the call for Chicago.

The forecast for today's Bucs-Jags game calls for a slight chance of rain with winds of 17-20 mph. Gusts could come in at 25-30 mph. That's enough wind to impact the passing and kicking games. QBs Jameis Winston and Nick Foles come with increased risk in Week 13 fantasy lineups. Try to avoid Ks Matt Gay and Josh Lambo.
