Week 9 DraftKings Cash-Game Picks
Top Plays for DraftKings Head-to-Head and 50/50 Contests
Here are the guys I’m considering for DraftKings Week 9 head-to-heads and 50/50s:
Quarterback
Jameis Winston, Browns ($5,400)
Winston delivered 27.6 DraftKings points for us last week and climbed just $200 in price. He remains a strong value.
This weekend’s matchup is tougher than last week’s. But the Chargers rank just 16th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. They’re still without CB Asante Samuel and might also be without CB Kristian Fulton.
Winston should have volume on his side again, too. The Browns stayed pass heavy last week, posting a 65% neutral pass rate and +5% pass rate over expected.
Also consider:
- Geno Smith, Seahawks ($5,800)
- Justin Herbert, Chargers ($5,300)
Running Backs
Alvin Kamara, Saints ($7,800)
Kamara got a couple of starting offensive linemen back last week and snapped out of a cold stretch with 18.2 DraftKings points.
His passing-game role has remained awesome. Kamara has seen 5+ targets in six of eight games and 7+ in five straight.
The Saints are expected to get QB Derek Carr this weekend, boosting the offense’s upside. And RB Kendre Miller is out with another hamstring injury, which could mean a few extra carries for Kamara.
Plus, he gets a cushy matchup against the Panthers, who rank 31st in run defense DVOA and dead last in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs.
Bijan Robinson, Falcons ($7,400)
Robinson is running as well as any back in the league right now. He’s averaged 5.3 yards per carry over the last three weeks and leads all RBs in Pro Football Focus rushing grade.
Robinson has topped 23 DraftKings points in all three of those games.
Now he’s home for the Cowboys’ 25th-ranked RB defense in a likely shootout. This game has a slate-high 51.5-point over/under. Atlanta’s 27.25-point implied total is third highest.
James Conner, Cardinals ($6,600)
Conner has continued to dominate Cardinals rushing work over the last two weeks, totaling 39 carries.
He's also seen a spike in passing-game usage, registering two of his three biggest route rates of the season. That's led to seven targets over those two games.
Only eight RBs have averaged more expected PPR points per game than Conner over the last two weeks.
Sunday brings a run-funnel Bears defense that ranks sixth in pass defense DVOA but 22nd in run defense. They’ve allowed 4.7 yards per carry to RBs.
Conner should be the focal point of the offense in this one.
Also consider:
- Kyren Williams, Rams ($8,000)
- Tyrone Tracy, Giants ($5,500)
Wide Receivers
Drake London, Falcons ($6,700)
London failed to score 17+ DraftKings points last week for just the second time in his last seven games. He still ranks fifth among WRs in targets and 16th in target share on the season.
Now London’s price is down $500 for a great spot at home in a likely shootout against the Cowboys’ 23rd-ranked WR defense.
Chris Olave, Saints ($6,100)
Olave soaked up 14 targets on a 33% share last week. We could see a lot more games like that with WR Rashid Shaheed out for the year.
Olave is expected to get QB Derek Carr back on Sunday. And he draws a Panthers defense that ranks:
- 27th in passing yards allowed
- 28th in yards per pass attempt allowed
- 30th in passing TDs allowed
- 31st in pass defense DVOA
- 31st in EPA allowed per pass
- 30th in passing success rate allowed
Carolina has allowed at least one WR to score 17.5+ PPR points in six of eight games.
Cedric Tillman, Browns ($4,300)
Tillman, like his QB, remains too cheap.
In a full-time role over the last two weeks, Tillman ranks:
- 2nd in targets
- 3rd in air yards
- 4th in expected PPR points per game
- 2nd in actual PPR points per game
The matchup isn’t ideal against the Chargers’ seventh-ranked WR defense. But Tillman projects for way too much volume at this price tag to avoid in cash games.
Also consider:
- CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys ($8,800)
- Ladd McConkey, Chargers ($5,600)
- Courtland Sutton, Broncos ($5,400)
- Jakobi Meyers, Raiders ($5,300)
Tight End
Mike Gesicki, Bengals ($3,100)
Gesicki has been the biggest beneficiary of WR Tee Higgins’ absence this season.
Without Higgins (3 games) | with Higgins (5 games) | |
Targets Per Game | 7.0 | 1.8 |
Target Share | 20.6% | 5.6% |
Higgins is out again this weekend. The Bengals have a 26.75-point implied total – fourth-highest on the slate – for a home game against the Raiders. Vegas ranks 15th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to TEs.
Also consider:
- Brock Bowers, Raiders ($6,000)
Defense/Special Teams
Giants ($2,300)
It’s a bad matchup against a Commanders team that ranks second in adjusted fantasy points allowed to DSTs.
But we’re getting the defense that leads the NFL in sacks for $2,300. The Giants have 4+ sacks in six of eight games this season. That includes five sacks in the Week 2 meeting with Washington.
Also consider:
- Eagles ($3,100)
- Patriots ($3,000)
