Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Rams TE Tyler Higbee (shoulder) is out for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. Los Angeles is holding some starters out of this game, but HC Sean McVay that Higbee is out due to the dislocated shoulder he suffered last week. We'll see if he can make it back for the playoffs. Davis Allen figures to serve as the Rams' lead TE this weekend.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rams HC Sean McVay has ruled out RB Kyren Williams, WR Cooper Kupp, and DT Aaron Donald for Week 18's contest vs. the 49ers. Once the decision was made that backup QB Carson Wentz would be the Rams' starter on Sunday, it was reasonable to expect we'd see more of these big-name players sit out. Los Angeles gains nothing from playing all their starters in a game that doesn't alter their playoff hopes. This news leaves rookie WR Puka Nacua as the active playmaker of note for season-long managers who play into Week 18 -- although we are not expecting Nacua to play a full slate of snaps. Veteran Demarcus Robinson sits highest among Rams in the Week 18 WR Rankings.
Rams TE Tyler Higbee dislocated his shoulder in the Week 17 win over the Giants, HC Sean McVay said Monday. McVay didn't say whether Higbee will play against the 49ers this weekend, but it'd be a surprise if he did considering the Rams have little to gain in that one. (They'll either be the NFC's No. 6 or 7 seed.) Higbee's absence would leave Davis Allen as Los Angeles' top TE.
The Rams re-signed K Brett Maher. He spent the first seven games of the season with Los Angeles, making 17 of 23 FGs (74%) and 12 of 13 XPs (92%). Maher will kick in Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the 49ers -- and presumably in the playoffs if he doesn't blow this opportunity.
Rams WR Puka Nacua secured 5 of 8 targets for a team-leading 118 receiving yards in Week 17 vs. the Giants. The rookie is beginning to close in on making his 2023 campaign historic in nature. Nacua is just 28 yards shy of breaking the rookie receiving yards record (1,473) set by Oilers WR Bill Groman in 1960 and only 3 catches away from Jaylen Waddle’s rookie receptions record (104) from 2021. He’s got a strong shot at hurdling these marks in Week 18 vs. the 49ers and is in a tremendous position moving forward. Despite the uncertain long-term future of QB Matthew Stafford (who will be 36 in 2024), Nacua established himself as a dominant force and currently ranks seventh among WRs with 17.8 PPR points per game. You’re walking into next season feeling pretty good about your dynasty team if you roster Nacua.
Congratulations if you started Rams RB Kyren Williams in your fantasy championship. The second-year back exploded in Week 17 vs. the Giants, tallying 101 scrimmage yards with 3 rushing TDs on 22 touches. Those who remained patient with Williams in dynasty or picked him up off the waiver wire in season-long leagues were handed a player who ranked second among RBs in PPR points per game (21.2) with a massive average of 23 touches per game in 2023. It’s fair to proclaim him as a true “league winner” this season despite missing four games due to a high ankle sprain. He’ll assuredly be treated as a bonafide RB1 in 2024, regardless of format.
The Raiders clearly led Indianapolis in time of possession (by 6.5 minutes) and ran 74 plays to the Colts' 53 in Sunday's loss. That led to particularly big numbers in the passing game. QB Aidan O'Connell attempted a season-high 47 passes -- just six higher than his second-biggest total, but 13 ahead of No. 3. His 30 completions and 299 yards also easily set season highs. The big volume -- and Las Vegas playing catchup late -- produced a whopping 21 targets for WR Davante Adams. He caught 13 for 126 yards and 2 TDs. WR Jakobi Meyers followed with a 6-56 line on 10 targets. Adams drew a target on 44.7% of O'Connell's attempts, claimed 43.3% of his completions, and tallied 42.1% of the receiving yards. Meyers' 10 targets, meanwhile, accounted for a just OK 21.3% target share. Expect all those numbers to fall -- probably by quite a bit -- in the regular-season finale against the Broncos.
Rams WR Puka Nacua (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Giants. He missed Friday's practice with what HC Sean McVay called hip tightness but never seemed to be in danger of missing this one. Nacua is safe to keep in Week 17 fantasy lineups.
Rams WR Puka Nacua (hip) is expected to play vs. the Giants today, ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms. Nacua is listed as questionable after missing Friday's practice with what HC Sean McVay labeled hip "tightness." But McVay also said that he fully expected Nacua to play. We're not projecting the hip to be a factor today.
Rams WR Puka Nacua (hip) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Giants. He missed Friday's practice with what HC Sean McVay called hip tightness. McVay also said that Nacua should be fine for Sunday's game. He can stay penciled into Week 17 fantasy lineups for now. We'll get the Rams' inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday.
Raiders WR Davante Adams let you down big time with just 1 reception for 4 yards in Monday's loss to the Chiefs. His 6 targets marked the fewest he'd seen in a game since Week 6 and his third-lowest total of the season. But if your team survived that performance and advanced anyway, don't overrate Adams' rough day in making your Week 17 lineup decisions. The bad game came just a week after Adams delivered an 8-101-1 receiving line against the Chargers and marked the first time since Week 9 that he finished a game with fewer than 5 receptions. The Chiefs have been the fifth-toughest scoring matchup for WRs this season, by our adjusted fantasy points allowed. And the defense has been legitimately tough against the pass, ranking fifth in DVOA. Adams gets a more favorable matchup with the Colts in Week 17. Indy has also been a negative scoring matchup for WRs (ninth-toughest) but ranks just 14th in pass DVOA. Expect Adams to settle in WR2 territory of our Week 17 rankings.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell (concussion) is not listed on the final injury report for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. He was splitting No. 3 WR duties with Demarcus Robinson last time we saw him. Atwell and Robinson are only in play in one-game DFS contests.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell cleared concussion protocol and will be back for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints, HC Sean McVay said. Atwell split No. 3 WR duties with Demarcus Robinson in his last two healthy games. Neither guy is a Week 16 fantasy option outside of one-game DFS contests.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell (concussion) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so Atwell should be back for Week 16. His absence today leaves Demarcus Robinson as Los Angeles’ No. 3 WR. He has some deep-league and DFS appeal against Washington’s 32nd-ranked WR defense.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell (concussion) is "unlikely" to play vs. the Commanders this afternoon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Atwell was a full participant in Friday's practice but evidently hasn't been cleared for game action yet. He should be back for Week 16. Atwell's absence today leaves Demarcus Robinson as the Rams' No. 3 WR against the Commanders' 32nd-ranked WR defense.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Commanders. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so there’s a real chance that he’s cleared in time for Sunday’s kickoff. We should get another update on Atwell’s progress on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. He’d be just a fantasy flier if he ends up playing – but would knock WR Demarcus Robinson back off the fantasy radar.
Rams TE Tyler Higbee (neck) is not listed on the final Week 15 injury report. He’ll be back for Sunday’s game vs. the Commanders. Los Angeles has a big 28.5-point implied total for that one, giving Higbee more TD upside than usual. But he’s finished as a top-12 PPR TE just three times this season, making him tough to trust as a fantasy starter.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell (concussion) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That at least gives him a chance to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Commanders, although we'd still consider it unlikely. Check back tomorrow for another update on Atwell's progress.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (illness) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Chargers. He didn’t practice yesterday, but we’ve seen nothing to suggest that he’ll be limited in this one.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Raiders WR Davante Adams (illness) is expected to play vs. the Chargers tonight. We'll look for any reports of Adams being limited in this one, but we're tentatively expecting him to play his usual role. See where he sits in the Week 15 WR Rankings.
