Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Texans LB Denzel Perryman missed Wednesday's practice with a hand injury. We're not concerned yet. Perryman played every snap of Sunday's loss to the Colts. But we'll track his status throughout the week. S Jalen Pitre remained out of practice as well following his Week 1 lung bruise. Pitre missed Week 2. We'll see about his status for Sunday.
Panthers WR D.J. Chark (hamstring) is active for tonight's game vs. the Saints. HC Frank Reich said Saturday that Chark could be on a snap count coming off that hamstring injury, so he should only be used as a flier in DFS tournaments.
Chargers QB Justin Herbert completed 27 passes on 41 attempts for 305 passing yards with 2 TD and no INTs in Week 2’s OT loss vs. the Titans. How the Chargers continue to find themselves in such close games on a consistent basis is beyond us. Fortunately, that’s more of a problem for real-life football. Even without RB Austin Ekeler (ankle), fantasy managers saw another 20+ point game from Herbert in what will likely be his second-straight top-12 finish. He'll look to continue his success next week vs. the Vikings.
As expected, the Ravens split work pretty evenly between RBs Justice Hill and Gus Edwards in the first game since J.K. Dobbins' Achilles' tendon tear. Hill edged Edwards 11-10 in carries and garnered all 3 RB targets. But Edwards proved more efficient. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry and delivered the team's only rushing score, from 1 yard out in the first quarter. Hill got the only other RB goal-line carry right before that. Hill caught all three of his targets for 12 yards and tallied 41 yards on his 11 carries (3.7 per rush). Expect the pair to continue splitting opportunities. A Week 3 home date with the Colts looks like a neutral rushing matchup.
Chargers Edge Joey Bosa (hamstring) is active for today's game against the Titans. He barely practiced during the week, though, taking part only in individual side drills on Friday. That makes Bosa a high-risk play for Week 2 IDP lineups.
Panthers WR D.J. Chark (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Saints. He was a full-go in Saturday's practice, and HC Frank Reich confirmed that Chark is expected to play against New Orleans. But Reich also mentioned the "possibility of a pitch count," according to The Athletic's Joe Person. Chark should not be in Week 2 fantasy lineups.
Chargers Edge Joey Bosa is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. He missed the first two practices with a hamstring injury. Bosa returned to the field Friday and was officially limited. But NFL Network's Bridget Condon reported that he worked off to the side with no helmet. That doesn't sound like a guy who's ready to come back for the game. Set your IDP lineup as though Bosa won't be available this week. We'll see what else we learn ahead of Sunday's kickoff. The combo of Bosa's injury and multiple injuries at LB should downgrade the Chargers' team D for Week 2.
Panthers WR D.J. Chark (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Thursday. He has a shot to play vs. the Saints on Monday night but shouldn't be in your Week 2 fantasy plans.
Chargers Edge Joey Bosa missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury. We'll see about his status the rest of the week, ahead of Sunday's matchup with Tennessee.
Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins will undergo surgery on September 15 to repair his torn Achilles, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Dobbins is "aiming" for a return in six months, per Pelissero, which would put him back on the field in March. That'd be a big win for Dobbins, who will turn 25 in December and hit free agency in March. We'll track his rehab, but Dobbins' dynasty value has taken a major hit. There's no guarantee that he returns to pre-injury form.
Chargers QB Justin Herbert finished Week 1 with just 228 passing yards and 1 TD. A short-range toss to TE Donald Parham accounted for his only passing score. Herbert added a second score on a QB sneak, but there wasn’t much to speak of otherwise. Keenan Allen led the way with 6 grabs for 76 yards. Mike Williams — who left briefly for a concussion check — tallied just 45 yards on 4 catches. And Round 1 rookie Quentin Johnston mixed in for only 9 yards on 2 receptions. Overall, a slow start isn’t a total surprise given the presence of new OC Kellen Moore (plus a talented Miami defense). Keep expectations high for Sunday’s matchup at Tennessee.
Panthers TE Hayden Hurst parlayed 7 targets into 5 catches, 41 yards, and 1 TD in Sunday’s loss to Atlanta. A banged-up Carolina WR corps certainly helped shuffle targets to the TE. But recall that he signed a deal with $13 million in guarantees this past offseason. We look for him to continue posting low-end starter lines in the future — especially if the TE position continues to underproduce. Hurst will remain on the streaming radar for a Monday night tilt with New Orleans.
The Ravens confirmed a torn Achilles for RB J.K. Dobbins. We’re expecting a committee approach with Justice Hill and Gus Edwards going forward. Next up is a road matchup with Cincinnati.
NFL Network reports that Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles. He's scheduled for an MRI to confirm. It'd be a season-ending injury for Dobbins, who had seemingly just worked back to 100% from his devastating 2021 knee injury. Dobbins' absence would leave Baltimore's backfield to Justice Hill and Gus Edwards.
Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins suffered an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Texans. He went back to the locker room with trainers and is officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.
Panthers WR D.J. Chark (hamstring) has been ruled out for this weekend's game vs. the Falcons. He at least returned to a limited practice on Friday, which bodes well for his Week 2 availability.
Panthers WR D.J. Chark (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. That doesn't bode well for his chances of playing in this weekend's opener vs. the Falcons. WRs Terrace Marshall (back) and Adam Thielen (ankle) were limited on Wednesday but should be ready come Sunday. Rookie Jonathan Mingo is Carolina's healthiest WR and should be in for a significant role out of the gate.
Garrett Downing of the Ravens' official website expects RB J.K. Dobbins to be heavily involved in new OC Todd Monken's offense. "We've seen throughout training camp that the RBs are catching a lot of passes," Downing says. "I think that bodes really well for J.K. Dobbins. He has nice hands out of the backfield. ... I expect him to have a big role in that regard in this offense." Dobbins has totaled just 25 catches in 23 NFL games. But he wasn't asked to do much in the passing game in previous OC Greg Roman's offense. That'll change under Monken. And remember that Dobbins caught 71 balls in three college seasons.
The trade of K Dustin Hopkins to Cleveland leaves Cameron Dicker as the Chargers' K. He drilled 21 of 22 FG tries as a rookie last year (19 for the Chargers, two for the Eagles) and is a strong fantasy option on a high-scoring offense.
Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins said Thursday that he's back to 100% after his 2021 multi-ligament knee injury. "I do think that healthy, I can be one of the top backs in the league," Dobbins said. "That flashes sometimes, but I just got to prove it and I am going to prove it one day. One day it will happen." Dobbins sure looked healthy -- and like one of the best backs in the league -- when he averaged 6.6 yards per carry over the final five games of last season (including playoffs). If he can avoid injury this year, Dobbins will return big value from his fifth-round ADP.
