The Panthers released TE Hayden Hurst, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. Hurst caught 18 balls over the first nine games of last season and then missed the final eight with a concussion that led to post-traumatic amnesia. Hurst has said that he wants to continue his football career, but he's not a good bet to be a fantasy asset in 2024 or beyond. We'll see where he lands next.

The Panthers are placing TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) on IR. Hurst was concussed back in Week 10 and dealt with post-traumatic amnesia. He did not suffer a setback, according to ESPN's David Newton. The team is just being cautious by holding him out for the rest of the season. Hurst caught five balls back in Week 1 but totaled only 13 more grabs over his final eight games in a pathetic Panthers passing game. Hurst is signed with Carolina at a $10 million cap hit in 2024. We'll see how the team handles that. Hurst won't be a target in 2024 redraft fantasy leagues and has minimal dynasty value.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Saints. We learned this week that Hurst is dealing with Post Traumatic Amnesia after being concussed back in Week 10. He put in three limited practices this week and is hoping to play again this season. TEs Tommy Tremble (hip) and Stephen Sullivan (shoulder) are listed as questionable. Avoid this situation in Week 14 fantasy lineups.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. TE Tommy Tremble (hip) is listed as doubtful, which will leave Carolina with TEs Ian Thomas and Stephen Sullivan. Neither is a viable fantasy play.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Titans. With Hurst sidelined last week, Tommy Tremble led Carolina TEs with a 68% route rate and caught one of three targets for four yards and a score. He’d be a desperation Week 12 fantasy play.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Cowboys. That should mean a boost in playing time for TE Tommy Tremble -- but not enough to make him a recommended fantasy play in this struggling Carolina offense.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst is in the concussion protocol and did not practice on Wednesday. He's unlikely to be cleared in time for this weekend's game vs. the Cowboys. Hurst hasn't topped three catches in a game since Week 1, so he shouldn't have been in your fantasy plans anyway. His absence is a boost to TE Tommy Tremble, but he'd be a desperation fantasy play.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst played a season-low 51.4% of snaps in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. It was his third game of 55% or less through four weeks, marking a downturn vs. his season high 61% in Week 4. Hurst did run a route on 65% of QB Bryce Young's dropbacks, in line with his passing-game involvement the previous three games. But fellow TE Tommy Tremble played a season-high 43.1% of snaps, including a season-high route rate. TE Ian Thomas also set season highs in playing time and pass routes. Hurst remained the lead receiving option among Carolina TEs, but he's not getting used at a high enough level to start in fantasy outside of deep leagues. He's even droppable in many spots.

Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) put in a full week of practice and isn't listed on the final injury report. He'll be back under center for Sunday's game vs. the Vikings. Young has mustered just 4.2 yards per attempt so far this season and is just a low-end QB2 for Week 4, despite the plus matchup. Consider Young a slight downgrade from QB Andy Dalton for Carolina's pass catchers.

Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Seahawks this weekend, the team announced. That'll leave QB Andy Dalton under center, which might actually be an upgrade at this point. Young has struggled mightily so far, completing 59% of his passes and averaging 4.2 yards per attempt. Dalton played well for New Orleans last year, finishing with a 67% completion rate and 7.6 yards per attempt. Hopefully you're not relying too much on this passing game in fantasy lineups, but WR Adam Thielen and TE Hayden Hurst remain fine lower-end plays.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst parlayed 7 targets into 5 catches, 41 yards, and 1 TD in Sunday’s loss to Atlanta. A banged-up Carolina WR corps certainly helped shuffle targets to the TE. But recall that he signed a deal with $13 million in guarantees this past offseason. We look for him to continue posting low-end starter lines in the future — especially if the TE position continues to underproduce. Hurst will remain on the streaming radar for a Monday night tilt with New Orleans.

The Athletic's Joseph Person writes that Panthers HC Frank Reich is installing a "tight end-friendly offense that features the position prominently in the passing attack." That's particularly good news for TE Hayden Hurst, who signed a hefty three-year, $21.75 million deal with Carolina in free agency. “I love it," Hurst said of Reich's offense. "This is the opportunity that I’ve always asked for. I prepared this offseason like the ball’s gonna come my way a lot. So I’m in the best shape of my life.” TE26 in ADP, Hurst is one of the best values at the position in fantasy drafts.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst is back on the field after undergoing sports hernia surgery earlier this offseason. Barring a setback, that procedure won't impact his 2023 campaign. Hurst isn't an exciting pick in fantasy drafts -- but he's a volume-based value at his TE24 ADP.

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst is recovering from sports hernia surgery, per HC Frank Reich. Hurst will sit out OTAs until further notice, but we’ll let you know when he’s back on the field. There’s a lead TE job waiting for him when he returns to 100%. The 30-year-old (in August) inked a 3-year deal with $13 million guaranteed in March.

The Panthers have agreed to a three-year deal with TE Hayden Hurst. The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Hurst, a former NFL first-round pick, will be joining his fourth team since entering the league in 2018. At best, he's been a streaming TE consideration throughout his career. It's tough to say he'll have as much fantasy appeal going from a high-powered Bengals offense in 2022 to the Panthers with a rookie QB likely to be under center, though. This transition only hurts the value of Hurst even with diminished target competition. Dynasty managers are probably further ahead looking elsewhere to the 2023 rookie class or beyond if TE is a position of need. He may prove to be reasonably effective for redraft purposes if the Panthers don't add a ton of talent around him, though.

UPDATE: Hurst's contract is reportedly a three-year deal worth $21.75 million (with $13 million guaranteed).

Bengals TE Hayden Hurst (calf) isn't listed on the final injury report for Sunday's AFC Championship game vs. the Chiefs. He put in a full practice on Friday after being limited on Thursday. Hurst should be ready for his usual role this weekend.
