Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts revealed after Sunday's win over the Steelers that he played through a broken finger on his left, non-throwing hand. "It did impact my play," Hurts said. “It didn’t get worse today. If it’s shattered, it’s shattered." Hurts lost a fumble vs. Pittsburgh but was otherwise excellent, completing 25 of 32 passes (78%) for 290 yards (9.1 YPA), two TDs, and 0 INTs and running 15 times for 45 yards and a score. We'll keep an eye on Hurts going forward, but he'll remain a must-start for Week 16's meeting with the Commanders.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown injured his left ankle late in the Week 15 win over the Steelers. He was in good spirits after the game and allowed to speak to the media, which typically means a player isn’t seriously injured. We should get an update on Brown’s status tomorrow.
Eagles WRs AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith combined for 219 yards receiving and two TDs. Brown caught eight of 11 targets for 110 yards and a TD while Smith caught 11 of 12 targets for 109 yards and a TD.
Eagles RB Saquon Barkley carried the ball 19 times for 65 yards in the Eagles win over the Steelers. He also caught both of his targets for nine yards. It was a disappointing fantasy performance for the top RB scorer on the season.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had a massive fantasy performance against one of the best overall defenses in the league in the Steelers. He completed 25-of-32 passes for 290 yards and two TDs. Hurts also added 45 yards and a TD on the ground on 15 rushes.
Eagles OC Kellen Moore said Tuesday that he's looking to get the ball to WR A.J. Brown more often. “I’m gonna focus more on trying to find different ways to increase the likelihood of the ball going to [A.J. Brown]," Moore said. "Ultimately, the quarterback has to play based off the reaction of the defense, and trust that there’s progressions within a play. For us, we’re always gonna evaluate how can we get it to him sooner and create those opportunities." Brown saw just four targets in the Week 14 win over the Panthers and is averaging 6.4 over his last five games. That stems mostly from the Eagles' low pass volume, though. Brown has drawn a 28.6% target share across those last five games, but the Eagles have averaged only 22.4 pass attempts per game. Unless that changes drastically -- and we don't expect it to -- Brown will struggle for WR1-level volume.
Eagles TE Grant Calcaterra caught all three of his targets for 16 yards and a TD in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith came off a two-game hamstring injury to draw a team-high 6 targets in Sunday's win over the Panthers. That led A.J. Brown by two, though they caught a matching four passes. Brown tallied 43 yards to Smith's 37, but Smith snagged the only TD between them -- one of two Jalen Hurts threw for the game.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts threw for an absurdly low 108 yards in Sunday's surprisingly narrow victory over the Panthers. But that included a pair of TD tosses. And Hurts added 59 yards with a TD plunge on the ground. He entered the late-afternoon Sunday games trailing only Sam Darnold among QB fantasy scorers.
The Eagles are placing TE Dallas Goedert on IR with his knee injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That knocks Goedert out through Week 17, so he can be dropped from all redraft rosters. "The plan is for him to be back at full speed heading into the playoffs," Rapoport adds.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) put in a full week of practice and is not listed on the final injury report. He should be ready for a full slate of snaps vs. the Panthers this weekend. As usual, there doesn’t figure to be much passing volume from Philadelphia in that one. But Smith could get a target boost with TE Dallas Goedert out.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers. We’ll see if he lands on IR tomorrow. Goedert’s absence leaves Grant Calcaterra as Philadelphia’s lead TE. He registered 83%, 86%, and 91% route rates in the three games Goedert missed earlier this season, totaling nine targets on a 15.3% share. He's a low-end spot start option this week.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) put in a full practice on Wednesday. He's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. There's unlikely to be even 30 pass attempts from QB Jalen Hurts in that one. But the matchup is good, and TE Dallas Goedert's absence should mean a bigger target share for Smith. He sits 28th in the Week 14 WR Rankings.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert is considered "week to week" with the knee injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Ravens, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. "Goedert could be a candidate for short-term IR based on his recovery, but the injury isn’t season ending," McLane adds. There are only four weeks left in most fantasy seasons, so IR would end Goedert's campaign for fantasy purposes. You can wait to drop Goedert to see if he lands on IR, but he's also dumpable now if you need the roster spot. Goedert's absence will once again leave Grant Calcaterra as the Eagles' lead TE. In the three games Goedert missed earlier this season, Calcaterra registered 83%, 86%, and 91% route rates while totaling nine targets on a 15.3% share. He's a low-end spot start option with six teams on bye this week, but you should be able to do better than Calcaterra beyond that.
Someone should have told Eagles RB Saquon Barkley he had a tough rushing matchup with the Ravens on Sunday. He took 23 carries for 107 yards and a TD.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts threw for just 118 yards and a TD in Sunday's win over the Ravens. He attempted only 19 passes compared with 33 team rushing attempts.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Ravens and is officially questionable to return. He caught three of four targets for 35 yards and a score before exiting. We'll update Goedert's status when we know more.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Ravens. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, so we’re tentatively expecting him back for Week 14. WR Johnny Wilson (hamstring) is also out today, leaving Philadelphia thin at WR. It’ll be Jahan Dotson, Britain Covey, Parris Campbell, and Ainias Smith behind A.J. Brown. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert should soak up a ton of Eagles targets today.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that there's "not a lot of optimism" that WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will be able to play vs. the Ravens this afternoon. Smith "may work out on Sunday to see if he can go," Rapoport adds. We won't get Philadelphia's inactives until a little before 3 pm ET. So, barring a more positive report, Smith should be on fantasy benches. His absence boosts the target projections on WR A.J. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after missing last week's game. We won't get Philadelphia's inactives until a little before 3 pm ET on Sunday, but we'll likely get at least one more update on Smith between now and then.
