Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Vikings passing game got right with WR Jordan Addison catching eight of 12 targets for 133 yards and three TDs. WR Justin Jefferson also ended his six game streak without a TD catching all seven targets for 132 yards and two TDs.
Vikings QB Sam Darnold went wild against the Atlanta Falcons supporting both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to top-five fantasy performances. The Falcons pass defense has struggled throughout the season and Darnold took full advantage completing 22 of 28 passes.
Vikings Edge Andrew Van Ginkel and DT Harrison Phillips are active for today's game against the Falcons and ready to normal IDP use. Edge Patrick Jones II is inactive. All three entered the day questionable.
The Vikings and QB Sam Darnold have not had any discussions about a long-term contract, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Darnold is scheduled to hit free agency in March. He's had a nice season for Minnesota, but the team spent the 10th overall pick of this year's draft on QB J.J. McCarthy, who's the favorite to start next season.
Vikings K Will Reichard (quad) has been activated from IR. K John Parker Romo was released in a corresponding move. Reichard will be back for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. He's a viable Week 14 fantasy start with Minnesota sporting a 25.5-point implied total.
Vikings Edge Andrew Van Ginkel is questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, but he seems likely to play. Van Ginkel put in limited practices all week because of a thigh issue. And according to Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune, HC Kevin O'Connell "seemed optimistic about most of the questionable players being able to go."
Vikings K Will Reichard (quad) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. He was a full participant in practice all week, so we’re expecting Reichard back for this one. But we’ll see if he’s activated from IR on Saturday.
Vikings TE Josh Oliver (wrist, ankle) is off the final Week 14 injury report and will be back for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. That could mean a slight dip in pass routes for T.J. Hockenson, but he remains a fine TE1 play.
Vikings K Will Reichard (quad) has been designated to return from IR. That should have him on track to kick vs. the Falcons this weekend. Reichard missed the last four games but ranks top 15 at his position in fantasy points per game in most scoring systems. We'd try to wait at least one week before getting Reichard into fantasy lineups, though.
Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson managed just 3 receptions for 28 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. His 6 targets tied for second on the team, though, and constituted 19.4% of Sam Darnold's total pass attempts. Hockenson also ranked third among Vikings in routes, running one on 72% of Darnold's dropbacks.
Vikings QB Sam Darnold struggled for most of Sunday's win over the Cardinals but saved his fantasy line (and the victory) with a pair of TD passes late. Darnold hit TE Johnny Mundt from 4 yards out for a score near the end of the third quarter. He found RB Aaron Jones for a 5-yard TD late in the fourth to take the lead for good. Darnold finished the game with 235 yards, 2 TDs, 5 sacks taken but no turnovers.
Vikings RB Aaron Jones carried just five times for 22 yards and added 3 receptions for a mere 6 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Fortunately, his final catch went for a 5-yard, game-winning TD to save an otherwise brutal fantasy line.
Vikings TE Josh Oliver (wrist, ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Cardinals. Oliver’s absence last week was seemingly part of the reason TE T.J. Hockenson registered a season-high 84% route rate. He’s a more comfortable TE1 play with Oliver out again this week.
The Vikings have signed QB Daniel Jones to their practice squad, per multiple reports. Jones recently cleared waivers, as expected, and reportedly wanted to sign with a contending team. That’s certainly the case with the 9-2 Vikings. Eventually, Jones should slide into the backup role behind Sam Darnold. But the former Giant remains a shaky bet to start come Week 1 of 2025. The Vikings just invested a Round 1 pick in Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy.
Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson caught seven of nine targets for 114 yards including setting up the game winning FG with a 29-yard reception. Hockenson had looked sluggish returning from his ACL injury but finally looked fully healthy.
Vikings WR Jordan Addison caught eight of nine targets for 162 yards and a TD while Justin Jefferson only caught two of five targets for 27 yards. Addison was the favored target for QB Sam Darnold who threw for 330 yards and two TDs.
The Vikings averaged nearly five yards per carry against the Bears led by RB Aaron Jones 106 yards on 22 carries including a TD. Jones also caught three of four targets for 23 yards.
Vikings TE Josh Oliver (wrist, ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. As crazy as it sounds, that might mean a bigger role for TE T.J. Hockenson. Oliver has run a pass route on about 50% of Vikings pass plays in both of the last two weeks, while Hockenson has been at 71% and then 57%.
Former Giants QB Daniel Jones has been granted his release from the team after being demoted to QB3 on the team over their bye week. His large contract makes it likely that Jones will last through waivers but if he hits open free agency, there should be plenty of interest with the current NFL QB landscape.
The Giants are benching QB Daniel Jones, NFL Network reports. It's being "deemed a football decision," according to Mike Garafolo, which is fair considering Jones' play this season. But the move also protects the Giants from the 2025 $23 million injury guarantee in Jones' contract. We've very likely seen the last of Jones on the field for the Giants. The team will start QB Tommy DeVito -- not QB Drew Lock -- against the Buccaneers this weekend, per NFL Network.
