Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is dealing with a "pretty serious" shoulder contusion, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Pacheco couldn't lift his hand above his shoulder late this week. "But it's not considered to be a long-term injury," Rapoport adds. "No IR. They expect him back sooner rather than later." We'll track Pacheco's status this coming week and see if he can make it back for next Sunday's game vs. the Patriots.
As expected, the Chiefs have activated LB Nick Bolton (wrist) off IR. He should be a good bet to return to his starting role, especially with LB Drue Tranquill (concussion) ruled out. Bolton sits inside the top 20 of our Week 14 LB rankings, though not quite as high as he did at the start of the season.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. He's not on the fantasy radar, but his absence can't hurt RB Christian McCaffrey's already massive volume projection.
The Chiefs are expected to activate LB Nick Bolton (wrist) from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Bills, according to ChiefsDigest.com. Bolton put in three full practices this week but will need to be activated before 4 p.m. ET Saturday to be eligible to play. If he's back, we'd use him in most IDP cases. You'll find Bolton near LB1 territory in our Week 14 LB rankings. Kansas City has ruled LB Drue Tranquill (concussion) out for the game. But that won't really matter if Bolton's back. Tranquill has been filling in for Bolton but plays a minimal role when Bolton's available.
Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills. HC Andy Reid said, "we'll see" when asked whether Pacheco will go on IR. We'll see if Kansas City makes that move on Saturday, but it at least sounds like Pacheco could be looking at a multi-game absence. Try to keep him stashed on fantasy rosters at least until we see if he lands on IR. His absence this weekend will leave Kansas City's backfield to Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon. RBs La'Mical Perine, Deneric Prince, and Keontay Ingram are on the practice squad. Edwards-Helaire is probably the best bet for carries -- but we could also see Kansas City go extremely pass-heavy sans Pacheco. McKinnon figures to dominate passing-game work and could also mix in for 8+ carries. See our updated projections for the Chiefs backfield.
Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) will miss practice again on Thursday, HC Andy Reid said. There was no other update on Pacheco's injury or status for this weekend's game vs. the Bills. We'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow. RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) seems to be trending toward returning for Sunday's game.
Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco missed Wednesday's practice with what HC Andy Reid labeled a shoulder contusion. Reid added that Pacheco is getting the shoulder "checked out," according to Arrowhead Pride's Pete Sweeney. If it's just a contusion, Pacheco should be available for this weekend's game vs. the Bills. We'll look for further updates on his status and see if he practices on Thursday.
Chiefs LB Drue Tranquill left in the first half of Sunday night's game against the Packers with a concussion. We'll see about his status heading into next Sunday's game against the Bills
Colts QB Gardner Minshew racked up 312 yards and two TDs with zero INTs in the Week 13 overtime win over the Titans. Minshew connected with WR Alec Pierce from 36 yards out for his first score. Then, in overtime, he hit Pierce for a 55-yard bomb and WR Michael Pittman for the game-winning 4-yard TD. It was a strong showing from Minshew against the pass-funnel Titans defense that entered this week ranked 20th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Week 14 brings another plus matchup against the Bengals. Minshew will be a nice QB2 and a low-end QB1 spot starter in that one.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Steelers with a heel injury. This is presumably an aggravation of the heel issue he's dealt with the past two weeks. We'll update Brown's status when we know more.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (heel) is active for today’s game vs. the Steelers. He didn’t practice all week, which certainly isn’t ideal. But Brown played through this heel issue last week, posting a 6-88-0 line on 12 targets. Consider him a risk/reward WR3 play in Week 13 fantasy lineups.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (heel) is expected to play vs. the Steelers today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Brown is listed as questionable and didn't practice all week. But he did play through this heel injury last week, posting a 6-88-0 line on 12 targets. See where Brown sits in the Week 13 WR Rankings.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (groin) is not listed on the final Week 13 injury report. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice and will be ready for his usual 1B role behind Jerome Ford in Sunday’s game vs. the Rams.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (heel) missed practice all week and is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Steelers. He played through this injury last week, and HC Jonathan Gannon said Friday that Brown is “trending in the right direction” to play in Pittsburgh. We’ll get Arizona’s inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. WR Michael Wilson (shoulder) is out again for the Cardinals.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (groin) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He should be available for this weekend's game vs. the Rams, but we'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
The Patriots are preparing to start QB Bailey Zappe against the Chargers this weekend, according to The Athletic's Jeff Howe. QB Mac Jones was abysmal again last week, completing just 12 of 21 passes (57%) for 89 yards (4.2 YPA), 0 TDs, and two INTs before getting yanked for Zappe. This might be the end of Jones' time in New England. Zappe, of course, has not been any better than Jones this season. He's completed only 49% of his passes at 4.0 yards per attempt across four appearances. He was better in two starts last season, tallying a 75% completion rate and 9.0 yards per attempt. "The Patriots are hoping that a full week of practice and game preparation helps bring out a better performance from Zappe," The Athletic's Chad Graff writes. "They hope that Zappe will be better against the Chargers than he’s been in relief this season now that he’ll get more reps in practice and with a gameplan built around what he can do." We'll see how Zappe fares, but this remains a passing game to avoid in Week 13 fantasy lineups.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (groin) did not practice on Wednesday. Hunt has been held out of a few Wednesday practices this season before ultimately playing, so we're tentatively expecting him to be out there for this weekend's game vs. the Rams. We'll see if he gets back on the field tomorrow.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (heel) did not practice on Wednesday. He played his usual role through this injury last week and should be fine for Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. But we'll keep an eye on Brown over the next few days.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown racked up 88 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Rams. Brown led the way with 12 targets on a day that found Kyler Murray attempt 45 passes in a blowout loss. Call it a nice turn of events for Brown, who entered the weekend questionable with a heel injury. In the post-game, Brown suggested he almost didn’t suit up. "We got into like a throwing match at the end, so I don't really look at it like we had a good connection because we lost the game," he said. "It took a lot for me to even play in this game, so for us to not come out of this game with a win, it hurts." Arizona travels to Pittsburgh for a fine matchup in Week 13. Then, they’ll be one of two teams on bye in Week 14.
Congratulations to all the fantasy managers out there who waited patiently for the breakout game from Chiefs WR Rashee Rice. The rookie hauled in 8 of his team-high 10 targets in Week 12 vs. the Raiders for 109 receiving yards and a TD. What’s exciting here is that his 71% route participation rate and 31.3% target share from this contest are Rice’s highest marks this season. Some of this bump in usage can be attributed to the fact that his teammate Mecole Hardman landed on IR with a thumb injury, and Kadarius Toney (ankle, hip) was inactive on Sunday, but that shouldn’t discount the fact that Rice stepped up to the plate for a Chiefs’ offense that’d been struggling of late. It’ll be intriguing to see if the Chiefs will maintain his usage next week in a decent matchup vs. the Packers (24th in pass defense DVOA in 2023). At the very least, Rice will be worth keeping on the flex monitor in lineups.
