Sam LaPorta Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He should be ready to play his usual role on Sunday against the Colts’ 30th-ranked TE defense.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. HC Dan Campbell confirmed that LaPorta is "trending the right way" for this weekend's game vs. the Colts. Although he's been one of the most disappointing players in fantasy football this season, LaPorta has finished as a top-8 TE in two of his last three outings. And Sunday brings a matchup against the league's 30th-ranked TE defense.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta is "truly questionable" for next week's game vs. the Colts, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. LaPorta's shoulder injury reportedly isn't serious, but it sounds like it might end up costing him a couple of games. TEs Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra are expected to pick up LaPorta's snaps vs. the Jaguars today.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. His injury reportedly isn’t serious, so we’ll see if he can make it back for Week 12. Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra will handle TE duties for Detroit this weekend. Neither is a reliable fantasy play.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Dan Campbell said earlier this week that LaPorta's injury isn't serious, but that he could miss this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars. Detroit would probably be just fine without LaPorta in that one. We're tentatively projecting him to miss Week 11 but will keep you updated on his status.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta was knocked out of Sunday night's game vs. the Texans with a shoulder injury. HC Dan Campbell said afterward that LaPorta is believed to be dealing with an AC joint sprain but will undergo more testing on Monday. "It’s not something like he’s gonna be out four weeks. It’s like, maybe he’ll miss this week, we’ll see," Campbell added. We should get another update on LaPorta's status within the next 24 hours.

The league has suspended Lions WR Jameson Williams two games for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

Lions QB Jared Goff threw for 280 yards and two TDs in the Week 7 win over the Vikings. TE Sam LaPorta accounted for just 25 of those yards. He caught one pass on two targets. Four Lions saw more targets and five caught more passes. And this was against a defense that entered the week ranked 29th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to TEs.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta caught a 52-yard TD pass from QB Jared Goff on a trick play in Sunday's win over the Cowboys. But that marked his only reception -- and target -- of the game.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta delivered 4 receptions for 53 yards in Monday night's win over the Seahawks. That line doesn't stand out immediately, but his 4 targets marked a 22.2% share of QB Jared Goff's total pass attempts. The yardage marked a season high. And he tied WR Amon-Ra St. Brown for second-most routes (behind only WR Jameson Williams) despite spraining an ankle in Week 3.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 4 injury report. He put in full practices on Friday and Saturday. It all suggests that the ankle will not be an issue in Monday night's game vs. the Seahawks. LaPorta, despite the slow start, checks in fourth in our Week 4 TE Rankings.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (ankle) returned to a full practice on Friday after sitting out on Thursday. That puts him on track to play -- and play his usual role -- vs. the Seahawks on Monday night. We'll update LaPorta's status again when we get Detroit's final injury report on Saturday afternoon.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (ankle) did not practice on Thursday. He's reportedly dealing with a low-ankle sprain and has an extra day to get ready for Monday night's game vs. the Seahawks. But LaPorta's availability for that one remains uncertain. We'll keep you updated on his progress over the next couple of days.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta has been diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "Relative good news," Fowler adds.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta appeared to injure his right ankle on the team's last offensive snap of the first half of Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. He played the first two snaps of the second half before limping off to the sideline. We'll update LaPorta's status when we know more.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta mustered only two catches for 13 scoreless yards in the Week 2 loss to the Bucs. That's even more disappointing when you consider the Lions ran 84 plays and threw 56 passes. LaPorta's three targets tied for sixth on the team and were just 5.4% of the Lions' total. His playing time remained solid, at least: An 88% snap rate and 83% route rate.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta has missed recent practice time with a hamstring strain. The injury popped up last week, per beat writer Justin Rogers. HC Dan Campbell said he doesn’t expect a lengthy absence for the second-year TE.

The Lions and QB Jared Goff agreed to a four-year, $212 million extension with $170 million guaranteed. The $53 million annual salary makes Goff the league's second-highest player (for now), behind only QB Joe Burrow. The new deal keeps Goff under contract with Detroit through 2027 and includes an option for 2028, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
