Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Jets QB Zach Wilson had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Wilson had just a trim of the meniscus -- as hoped -- and has a shot to play Week 1. Wilson does also have the bone bruise in the knee, which will require rest to recover.
CBS' Josina Anderson reports that Jets QB Zach Wilson tore the meniscus in his right knee, in addition to the bone bruise. He'll reportedly get a "trim" and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. The longer end of that would obviously extend into the regular season. We'll see exactly when the Jets expect Wilson to return, but this is all much better than the initially feared ACL tear. If Wilson does miss regular-season games, Joe Flacco should be in line to start.
Jets QB Zach Wilson will start Sunday's game vs. the Texans, The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports. In related news, QBs Joe Flacco and Mike White were both placed on the COVID list on Tuesday. QB Josh Johnson will back up Wilson this weekend. It'll be the rookie's first action since hurting his knee back in Week 7. He's largely struggled this year and can't be trusted in fantasy lineups.
Jets QB Joe Flacco is expected to start Sunday's game vs. the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. QB Zach Wilson's knee still isn't back to 100%, and the Jets are evidently done with QB Mike White after his 4-INT outing vs. the Bills last week. Flacco joined the team just a few weeks ago. He made 4 starts for the Jets last year -- albeit under a different coaching staff -- averaging 212 yards and 1.5 TDs on 6.4 yards per attempt. Flacco isn't a fantasy option, but he's also probably not a downgrade from White or Wilson at this point.
The Jets acquired QB Joe Flacco from the Eagles in exchange for a 2022 6th-round pick that can become a 5th-rounder based on how much Flacco plays for New York, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Flacco spent 2020 with the Jets, but that was under a different coaching staff. ESPN's Rich Cimini expects QB Mike White to start Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. QB Zach Wilson is slated to miss 2-4 weeks with his knee injury.
The Jaguars have traded QB Gardner Minshew to the Eagles for a conditional 2022 sixth-round draft pick. Philly also released QB Nick Mullens, positioning Minshew as at least the 3rd QB on the depth chart. He'll need only to work past Joe Flacco to become Jalen Hurts' backup. That's a nice spot for the 25-year-old Minshew, whose rookie contract runs through 2022. Jacksonville, meanwhile, has C.J. Beathard and Jake Luton around as backups to Trevor Lawrence.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts missed Thursday night's game against the Patriots with what's been diagnosed as a stomach infection, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hurts was reportedly told to rest at home for 2 days. Beyond that, he should be good to go. We'll pass along any further upsdates.
The Eagles announced just before Thursday night's game against the Patriots that they would hold QB Jalen Hurts out because of illness. That gave Joe Flacco the start (and it didn't go well). This doesn't look like a situation that will affect Hurts' availability any further.
The Ravens have signed WR Jeremy Maclin to a 2-year deal. A cap casualty in Kansas City, Maclin joins a Ravens squad that's missing a whopping 345 targets from a year ago. He figures to compete with Mike Wallace for the target lead this year -- although Breshad Perriman could also have a say in that battle if he takes a step forward. Maclin endured a disappointing, injury-stricken 2016 campaign but posted an 87-1,088-8 line the previous year. He's still only 29. And he has experience in Ravens OC Marty Mornhinweg's system, playing for Mornhinweg in Philadelphia for his first 4 NFL seasons. Maclin averaged 65 catches, 863 yards and 6.5 TDs across those years.
