Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts did not appear on the team's initial injury report on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's Divisional Round game vs. the Giants. Considering the dual-threat QB missed 2 games due to a right shoulder injury sustained in Week 15 vs. the Bears, his lack of being on the report is tremendous news. Hurts last played against the Giants in Week 18 and posted modern numbers. Hopefully, with some rest behind him, we'll see production closer to what Hurts did in Week 14 with 77 rushing yards and 30.4 fantasy points. A presumably healthy Hurts is easily a top-3 QB in playoff fantasy contests.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Giants. He reportedly threw the ball well in practice, and the team isn’t worried about him re-injuring that shoulder. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Saturday, though, that the Eagles will consider pulling Hurts from this game if they build a big lead. The Eagles are currently 16.5-point favorites vs. this Giants team that’s resting starters.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo confirms that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is expected to play vs. the Giants tomorrow. "He threw the ball extremely well in practice this week, and they're confident that he won't re-injure himself," Garafolo says. He adds that the "ideal scenario" is that the Eagles build a big lead and are able to pull Hurts from tomorrow's game. That's the cap on Hurts' Week 18 fantasy ceiling -- but he remains a strong play in season-long leagues.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion all week and is officially questionable for Week 18 vs. the Giants. The Eagles could secure the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win on Sunday. The sense of urgency to win might be enough to see Hurts back under center for the first time since Week 15. Hurts ranks 3rd among QBs in rushing yards per game (54.9), and last he played the Giants in Week 14, he posted 30.4 points. We consider him a top-5 QB in Week 18 if he gets the green light.
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni said Friday morning that QB Jalen Hurts is "trending in the right direction" for playing Sunday against the Giants. Don't be surprised if he carries a "questionable" tag on the final practice report. We'll certainly be watching Hurts' status right up until his game's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Let's hope fantasy football managers get clarity before then, though.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) was limited in practice again on Thursday. It's still unclear at this point if he'll be named the starter for Week 18 vs. the Giants. Friday's injury report will give us a better idea of what to expect. We'll let you know how this shakes out tomorrow.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion on Wednesday. Hopefully, the superstar will be able to suit up in Week 18 vs. the Giants. Hurts has not played since injuring his shoulder in Week 15 vs. the Bears. We'll be sure to keep up with this storyline as the week unfolds. Check back tomorrow for an update.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that the Eagles expect QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) to play vs. the Giants this weekend. After losing the last 2 weeks, the Eagles still need to win that one to clinch the NFC's #1 seed. Hurts got in limited practices last Thursday and Friday and reportedly threw it well. But Rapoport suggests that he wasn't able to gain full medical clearance to play. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his progress but will be projecting Hurts in our initial Week 18 Rankings.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning that Hurts is expected to be available for Week 18, although whether and how much he plays in that one will depend on whether the Eagles lock up the NFC’s #1 seed with a win today. QB Gardner Minshew gets another start.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is expected to be available for next weekend's regular-season finale against the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Whether and how much Hurts plays in Week 18 will be heavily influenced by what happens Sunday against the Saints," Schefter adds. If the Eagles lose today, they'll need to win next week to clinch the NFC's #1 seed, so we'd likely see a full game from Hurts. If the Eagles win today and lock up that #1 seed, Hurts might get some action as a playoff tuneup but very likely wouldn't play the entire game. Schefter adds that Hurts threw well in practice this week and that the Eagles "have no worries about Hurts' availability and effectiveness for the playoffs."
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) is officially listed as doubtful for Week 17 vs. the Saints. Looks like fantasy managers are going to get another taste of backup QB Gardner Minshew on Sunday. Minshew had a strong top-12 fantasy outing against the Cowboys last week and should be able to continue with similar success this weekend. Consider Minshew a low-end QB1 in a neutral matchup vs. the Saints.
Eagles QB (right shoulder) managed to practice in a limited fashion on Thursday. This marks the 1st time Hurts has practiced since sustaining his shoulder injury in Week 15 vs. the Bears. It's still unclear whether he will be able to suit up vs. the Saints in Week 17. There's still a strong possibility we'll see QB Gardner Minshew again. Check back tomorrow as we learn more.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. The talented dual-threat QB missed last week's game vs. the Cowboys and is reportedly very much questionable for Week 17 vs. the Saints. Don't be surprised if QB Gardner Minshew gets the start for the Eagles this coming week, but we don't want to speak too soon either. We'll continue to monitor Hurts' status in practice this week.
ESPN's Dan Graziano writes that he'd be "surprised" if Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) played against the Saints this weekend. "The impression I get from talking to people about this situation is that the Eagles believe they will have Hurts back before their first playoff game, but they still aren't sure about the extent to which the injury will affect him once he does return," Graziano adds. We'll get Philadelphia's first practice report of the week this afternoon. QB Gardner Minshew certainly played well enough in last week's loss to the Cowboys to instill confidence in the Eagles.
QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is now more likely to play vs. the Saints next weekend after the Eagles' loss in Dallas, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Philly still needs 1 more win to lock up the top seed in the NFC. "My understanding is that there's a real chance Jalen Hurts, who's considered day-to-day with this injury, pushes to play" against New Orleans, Rapoport says. We'll track Hurts' status throughout this coming week.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' status for Week 17 is uncertain. Hurts is dealing with an SC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder, per Schefter. Whether he plays vs. the Saints next weekend will depend on how that shoulder injury progresses, as well as where the Eagles stand in the playoff race. "If the Eagles can win Saturday in Dallas, they would not need to risk Hurts next week against the Saints," Schefter writes. "But if they lose Saturday, Hurts will push to play against New Orleans even if he is not fully healthy, as is expected to be the case, according to sources." We'll keep an eye on this, but fantasy owners should at least be preparing to be without Hurts again in Week 17.
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni announced on Thursday morning that QB Garnder Minshew will start Week 16's game vs. the Cowboys on Saturday. Jalen Hurts (shoulder) did not practice Tuesday or Wednesday and will now have some time to heal further. The Cowboys' defense ranks as the 3rd-toughest matchup for opposing QBs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season. We don't consider Minshew a ceiling play in fantasy lineups this week, but he could still be considered a streaming option/QB2 in superflex leagues.
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni isn't ready to rule out QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) for Saturday's game vs. the Cowboys. "There’s a chance he could play this week," Sirianni said. "He’s one of the toughest guys I know. His body is not like yours or mine. He heals fast. I will not rule him out. I will not put a timetable on him. We’ll see what happens." We're still not expecting Hurts to play this weekend. And neither are the oddsmakers, considering the Eagles are 5.5-point underdogs as of Tuesday afternoon. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation, but Hurts owners should be lining up an alternative for Week 16.
