Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The forecast for today's Texans-Jets game calls for a near 100% chance of rain. Winds will be at 10-15 mph with potential gusts of 30+. Tough conditions for the passing and kicking games. This over/under has dropped from 38.5 to 33.0. The Texans are implied for only 18.0 points. Check out the updated projections for this game.
Texans WR Tank Dell has been diagnosed with a fractured fibula and will be placed on IR, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Dell will miss at least four games and is likely done for the regular season. We'll look for a more concrete timetable for his return. Dell's injury is a hit to QB C.J. Stroud's fantasy value but leaves behind a lot of opportunity for Houston's other pass catchers. Nico Collins will be the clear No. 1 the rest of the way, with WRs Noah Brown, Robert Woods, and John Metchie behind him. We'll have more on those guys in this week's waiver wire article.
Texans QB C.J. Stround threw for 304 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. He added 47 yards and a TD on the ground. Stroud ranked fourth among fantasy QBs heading into the Sunday night game. If he can finish among the top 6 fantasy QBs for the week, it would mark the third such finish for the rookie among the past four weeks. Stroud looks like a QB1 for the Week 13 matchup with Denver. He'll also be a good option for matchups with Tennessee in weeks 15 and 17. But you'll want to find another option for Week 14 (Stroud faces the Jets) and Week 16 (Browns).
Texans QB C.J. Stroud tossed three INTs vs. the Cardinals on Sunday. The first and third were bad decisions and misthrown balls; the second probably should have been caught by WR Robert Woods. But Stroud still led the Texans to a win. And he still delivered lots of fantasy points, racking up 336 yards with TDs to TE Dalton Schultz and WR Tank Dell. Stroud completed a sterling 73% of his passes and averaged 9.1 yards per attempt. He's on a ridiculously productive run, averaging 387 yards and 2.7 TDs over his last three games. It's worth noting that all three of those games have come against defenses ranked in the bottom half of the league in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Stroud gets two more slightly positive matchups the next two weeks vs. the Jaguars and Broncos that will keep him safely inside QB1 territory. The rookie will face tough tests in Week 14 vs. the Jets and Week 16 vs. the Browns. It'd be wise to at least line up potential alternatives for those two weeks -- although Stroud is playing so well that he won't be a must-bench in those matchups.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud set a single-game rookie record with 470 passing yards in the 39-37 Week 9 win over the Bucs. Stroud completed 71% of his 42 passes, averaged 11.2 yards per attempt, and tossed five TDs vs. 0 INTs. It was as impressive of a QB performance as we've seen all season. Stroud had cooled off in his last few games heading into this one. But he's generally played excellent football this season -- and not just for a rookie. He's finished as a top-12 fantasy QB in five of his last seven outings now and will remain a QB1 option for at least the next four weeks vs. the Bengals, Cardinals, Jaguars, and Broncos. The Jets will present a tough test in Week 14.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud completed 16 of 24 passes for 140 passing yards with 0 TDs or INTs in Week 8’s loss vs. the Panthers. Fortunately for fantasy managers, the rookie salvaged his day somewhat by recording 13 rushing yards and a TD in the contest. Still, this wasn’t a stellar performance for the Texans’ offense as a whole. Sunday marked Stroud’s second game in a row with under 200 passing yards. Hopefully, he’ll have better luck next week vs. the Buccaneers.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud completed 13 of 27 pass attempts for 199 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT in Week 6’s win vs. the Saints. Though the rookie posted his lowest passing yardage total this season, his 14.2 fantasy points ranked 10th among QBs entering Sunday night. Stroud has proven to be a reliable fantasy option in 2023 and is set to go on bye in Week 7. His next game comes in Week 8 vs. the Panthers.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud completed 16 of 30 passes for 306 yards and 2 TDs in a Week 4 win over Pittsburgh. Despite continuing to play without multiple O-linemen, Stroud delivered several dimes while going without a turnover. Two of his scores went to Nico Collins, with the other going to Dalton Schultz. Stroud has now hit 280+ yards in three straight. The rookie enters a neutral matchup at Atlanta in Week 5.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud tallied 20 completions on 30 attempts for 280 and 2 TDs in Week 3’s surprise victory over the Jaguars. The rookie signal-caller is starting to heat up, and it seems fairly evident that the Houston offense is committed to throwing the ball. This is a team that held a lead throughout the entire contest and still recorded 30 pass attempts. At this rate of volume, Stroud may be sneaking his way up the list for streaming considerations in 1QB leagues. We’ll see what this bunch can accomplish next week in a tough test against the Steelers.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud tallied 30 completions on 47 attempts for 384 and 2 TDs in Week 2’s loss vs. the Colts. The rookie also ran the ball 3 times with only 1 rushing yard. Stroud has now thrown the ball at least 40 times in each of the first two games of 2023. Considering how often Houston will likely be playing from behind, he should be a useful asset in 2QB or superflex leagues as time goes along. We’re still a ways away from trusting Stroud in a 1QB format, though his performance on Sunday certainly helped his case. Next week, he and the Texans will travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Colts. He dealt with right-shoulder soreness late in the week, adding risk to his Week 2 fantasy profile. Stroud is only a low-end option in superflex leagues.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) is expected to play vs. the Colts today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Stroud was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Friday with a sore right shoulder. He's no better than a low-end QB2 in Week 2 fantasy lineups, but his availability is good news for Houston's offense.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) was added to the injury report and limited in Friday's practice. He's listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Colts. Per insider Aaron Wilson, Stroud "didn't do much" on Friday to "rest sore right, throwing shoulder, but is expected to try to play against Colts." That doesn't sound great. Hopefully Stroud wasn't in your Week 2 fantasy plans. QB Davis Mills will start on Sunday if Stroud can't. The situation adds downside to Houston's pass-catchers.
