Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Bills RB James Cook (toe) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Jets. It’s a surprise after multiple reports that Cook was expected to play. His absence leaves Buffalo’s backfield to Ray Davis, Ty Johnson, and rookie Frank Gore, who was elevated from the practice squad earlier today. If you’re looking for a Cook replacement, Davis is your best bet (assuming Jets RB Braelon Allen isn’t available).
Bills slot CB Taron Johnson is active for tonight's game against the Jets. He has been out since Week 1 with a forearm injury but should be back to his normal role.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Jets. Shakir only got in a limited practice on Saturday and was listed as questionable, so it’s safe to assume he won’t be at 100% for this one. He at least catches a Jets secondary that’ll be missing slot CB Michael Carter.
Bills CB Taron Johnson is questionable for Monday night's game against the Jets. Joe Buscaglia of the athletic says "the long wait for [Johnson's] return looks like it will end on Monday night." Johnson -- out since Week 1 with a forearm fracture -- practiced without his non-contact jersey for the first time Thursday but remained limited all three days. We'll check his status head of Monday night's kick. Buffalo has ruled DT Ed Oliver (hamstring) out for the game.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Jets. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday this week. While there have been multiple reports that RB James Cook is expected to play through his questionable tag, there's been no such update on Shakir. Between the late kickoff and a matchup with the Jets' 11th-ranked WR defense, Shakir should be on fantasy benches at this point. WR Curtis Samuel will step in as Buffalo's primary slot receiver if Shakir doesn't play.
Bills RB James Cook (toe) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Jets. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday. There have been multiple reports that Cook is expected to play in this one, but fantasy owners would be wise to stash RB Ray Davis or RB Ty Johnson as insurance just in case Cook ends up inactive.
Bills RB James Cook had missed practice through the week so far with a toe injury. He practiced on Saturday and is planning to suit up Monday Night against the Jets.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) remained sidelined for Friday's practice. He's looking unlikely to make it back for Monday night's game vs. the Jets. WR Curtis Samuel stepped in as Buffalo's primary slot receiver last week but mustered just one catch on four targets for 0 yards.
Bills RB James Cook (toe) missed practice again on Friday. We'll see if he gets on the field tomorrow and how he's listed on the final injury report for Monday night's game vs. the Jets, but Cook owners should start making other plans for Week 6. RBs Ray Davis and Ty Johnson will likely form a committee if Cook misses the Monday nighter.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) did not practice on Thursday. He still has a few days to get ready for Monday night's game vs. the Jets, but consider him no better than 50/50 for that one. QB Josh Allen missed Shakir last week, completing just nine of 30 passes in the loss to the Texans. We'll see if Shakir gets back on the field tomorrow.
Bills RB James Cook (toe) did not practice on Thursday. We don't have any other details on the toe injury. Cook has an extra day to get ready for Monday night's game vs. the Jets, but consider him iffy for that one as of now. His absence would likely mean a committee backfield with RBs Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. Davis would be the better fantasy bet but only a RB3 or Flex play.
Bills TE Dalton Kincaid managed just two catches for 34 yards in the Week 5 loss to the Texans. He tied for the team lead with six targets for a 20% share. But QB Josh Allen posted a career-worst 30% completion rate, including connecting on just two of six passes to Kincaid.
Bills QB Josh Allen completed just nine of 30 passes for 131 yards and one TD in the Week 5 loss to the Texans. The majority of that production came on a 49-yard score to WR Keon Coleman. Otherwise, Allen mustered just 82 scoreless passing yards. The nine completions were his fewest in a full game since his 2018 rookie campaign. It was just his fifth career game with fewer than 140 passing yards. Allen at least added 54 rushing yards on four carries. He went for a concussion check after his head slammed against the turf in the fourth quarter, but Allen was evidently cleared and did not miss an offensive snap.
Bills LB Terrel Bernard (pec) is active for today's game against the Texans. He has been out since Week 2 but should be ready to return to the starting lineup. Slot CB Taron Johnson (forearm) also returned to practice this week and entered Sunday questionable but is inactive vs. Houston. That helps the matchup for Texans WR Stefon Diggs.
Bills HC Sean McDermott said Friday on WGR 550 in Buffalo that WR Khalil Shakir won't play Sunday against the Texans. Shakir sprained an ankle late in the Week 4 loss to Baltimore and has missed practice all week.
Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He played through this ankle issue in Sunday night's loss to the Ravens, although HC Sean McDermott said Monday that they'll need to "take it a day at a time" with Shakir this week. We'll see if he's able to get back on the field tomorrow.
The NFL has suspended Bills DE Von Miller four games for violating the personal-conduct policy. Although the NFL didn't announce the reason, it almost certainly stems from November 2023 allegations that Miller assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. That case never produced formal charges and has reportedly been closed. Assuming there's no change of the suspension on appeal, Miller will be eligible to return after Week 8. His absence removes a key pass rusher (3 sacks over the first four games) but doesn't significantly alter the team D value. Miller played less than 40% of the snaps each of the past three weeks, so the IDP impact should be minimal.
Bills QB Josh Allen completed 16 of 29 passes for 180 yards. He also ran five times for 21 yards. The Ravens defense blitzed Allen often and got pressure on him throughout the game.
Bills WR Keon Coleman did not play in the first quarter of Monday night's game vs. the Jaguars. HC Sean McDermott said afterward that "it was an issue with being on time."
Bills RB James Cook scored for the second straight week in a blowout win over Jacksonville. He's now totaled 4 TDs on the season.
