San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (groin) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's looking like a long shot to play vs. the Bengals this weekend, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (concussion, knee) remained sidelined on Thursday. It's unclear if it's the concussion, knee issue or both keeping him out. Either way, Mitchell looks unlikely to play vs. the Bengals this weekend. We just removed him from the Week 14 Rankings.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (groin) did not practice on Wednesday. He did some running off to the side, according to insider Matt Barrows. But Samuel is still iffy for this weekend's game vs. the Bengals. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

ESPN's Adam Schefter that 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell had an MRI that showed knee "irritation," in the words of HC Kyle Shanahan. We'll see what that means through the practice week. At the least, it adds a complication to a player already in the concussion protocol. Make sure you have insurance behind Mitchell heading into the weekend.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell is in the concussion protocol, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Mitchell was checked for a head injury during Sunday's loss to Seattle but was cleared to re-enter. He then reported concussion symptoms on Monday morning. We'll track his progress through the protocol this week. RB Jeff Wilson had his knee "flare up" on Sunday, per Shanahan, so he's also iffy for Week 14. JaMycal Hasty is the only healthy RB on San Francisco's roster right now.

The 49ers deemed LB Fred Warner (hamstring) doubtful for Sunday's game at Seattle. The only surprise there is that he has any chance of playing. Initial reports projected him to miss a week or 2 with the injury. Expect the Niners to be without their star LB, though. LB Dre Greenlaw (groin) has been ruled out. LB/S Marcell Harris (concussion) is questionable. The depleted LB corps helps the outlook for Seahawks TE Gerald Everett.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (groin) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. He's expected to miss 1-2 weeks, so we'll see if he can make it back for next weekend's game in Cincinnati. WR Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle should dominate Niners targets with Samuel out.

Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell landed on the COVID list Tuesday after testing positive, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Fortunately for Campbell, Green Bay gets a Week 13 bye. We'll see whether the virus challenges his availability for Week 14.

ESPN reports that the 49ers expect LB Fred Warner to miss 1-2 weeks with the hamstring strain he suffered in Sunday's win over the Vikings. Fellow LB Dre Greenlaw is day-to-day, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reports. That leaves Azeez Al-Shaair as the best bet to lead San Francisco LBs in playing time for the Week 13 clash with Seattle.

HC Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers expect WR Deebo Samuel to miss 1-2 weeks with the groin strain he suffered in Sunday's win over the vikings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That leaves Brandon Aiyuk to lead the WR corps for the next game or 2, with Jauan Jennings and Trent Sherfield likely to each see more time. Samuel's absence can only help George Kittle's target outlook as well.

The Panthers have placed Christian McCaffrey on IR for the 2nd time this season, following his left-ankle injury in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. That automatically knocks him out for the rest of the year, since it's his 2nd IR stint. It's a surprising development after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported earlier Monday that the injury "doesn't seem major." We'll see about the specifics of the injury, but that won't really matter until we're evaluating McCaffrey for 2022 fantasy football drafts. For now, it's Chuba Hubbard back to the lead at the position in Carolina. He averaged 17.8 carries, 65.8 yards and 0.4 TDs per game rushing in 5 fill-in starts earlier this season, with another 2.6 receptions and 17.6 receiving yards per contest. The Panthers have since added RB Ameer Abdullah, who figures to steal some passing-down snaps from Hubbard the rest of the way. Abdullah has seen 4+ targets in 4 of the past 5 games, averaging 2.6 catches and 22.4 receiving yards per game over those 5 contests.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel is expected to miss "a little time" with the groin injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Vikings, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. But "it’s not considered a major injury," Rapoport adds. We'll look for more details on the situation, but it sounds like fantasy owners should at least plan on being without Deebo in Week 13.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey's ankle injury "doesn't seem major," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says. That's the vibe we've gotten since CMC exited in the 1st half of Sunday's blowout loss to the Dolphins. McCaffrey is scheduled for additional testing, so we should get another update on his status later today. He gets a well-timed Week 13 bye and seemingly has a chance to be ready for Week 14.

Niners LB Fred Warner left Sunday's game against the Vikings with a hamstring injury. Keiana Martin of the team website reports that Warner will have an MRI on Monday.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel injured his groin in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Vikings. He's officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rolled his left ankle near the end of the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. Miami. The team never officially announced an injury, but McCaffrey didn’t record a touch in the 2nd half. HC Matt Rhule said afterward that McCaffrey tried to re-enter but couldn’t get comfortable on the ankle. He now gets a Week 13 bye to heal up.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (finger) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. It’ll be his first action since undergoing finger surgery 12 days ago. Mitchell still has a pin in that finger, and it’s uncertain how it’ll impact his role and play today. Consider Mitchell a risk/reward RB2 in a plus matchup vs. a banged-up Minnesota run defense.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey "rolled his ankle" near the end of the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. Miami, according to Fox's Jen Hale. There's been no official announcement from the team yet, but CMC wasn't on the field to start the 2nd half. Stay tuned.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (finger, rib) is expected to play vs. the Vikings today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Mitchell had finger surgery 12 days ago and remained in a non-contact jersey in practice this week. We're assuming the 'Niners trust his ability to carry the football if he ends up active, but it's possible that he isn't used in the passing game. Consider Mitchell a risk/reward RB2 for Week 12

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan expects to get LB Dre Greenlaw activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Greenlaw has been out since suffering a groin injury back in Week 1, so it's tough to expect an immediate return to full playing time. We'll see if we hear anything else about the LB plan for Sunday's game. If we don't, it'll be risky to use either Greenlaw or Azeez Al-Shaair in IDP lineups this week.
