San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers QB Brock Purdy suffered an oblique injury during Sunday's win over the Bucs, HC Kyle Shanahan said afterward. It didn't knock Purdy out of that one, but Shanahan wouldn't guarantee that Purdy will be able to play vs. the Seahawks on Thursday night. He's scheduled for additional testing on Monday, so we should learn more then. QB Josh Johnson would be next up for San Francisco if Purdy misses time.

The Score's Jordan Schultz hears that "early indications" are that 49ers WR Deebo Samuel's ankle injury is not serious. He "badly twisted his ankle, but the team is optimistic he’s okay," Schultz says. Samuel is still scheduled for additional testing. We should get another update on his status on Monday.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel injured his left leg in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Bucs. He tried to get off the field under his own power but eventually had to be carted to the locker room. We'll update Samuel's status when we know more.

Update: Samuel has a knee injury and is officially questionable to return.

Update: Samuel has been ruled out with what the team now says is an ankle injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa (hamstring) "will play" today vs. the Buccaneers. That's significant for both IDP lineups and the 49ers' team defense. Bosa did sit out of practice all week, but he's still worth betting on for your fantasy football lineup. We've seen him effectively play through hamstring injuries before.

Niners EDGE Nick Bosa (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. We'll track his status over the weekend. Bosa is generally worth waiting for in IDP lineups if he has a shot to play.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (quad) is active for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. Dealing with what HC Kyle Shanahan called a deep thigh bruise, Samuel got in just limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. He reportedly made big improvements over the past 48 hours, though, and got the green light to play in this one. Samuel obviously carries more risk than usual in Week 13 fantasy lineups.

Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell (knee) is active for today's game against the Bears. Further, Green Bay has made LB Krys Barnes a healthy scratch. That supports Campbell returning to a full role.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (quad) "plans to play" vs. the Dolphins today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "The 49ers didn’t think Samuel would be able to play until Friday, but he has made big improvements and, barring a pre-game setback, he plans to go today," Schefter tweets. We'll look for further updates on Samuel but won't get San Francisco's inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET. He'll obviously carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler hears that 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (quad) is "likely a game-time decision" for Sunday's showdown with the Dolphins. Samuel got in just limited practices on Wednesday and Friday with what HC Kyle Shanahan said is a deep thigh bruise. This game doesn't kick off until 4:05 pm ET tomorrow, which could put fantasy owners in a tough spot. We'll look for an update on Samuel on Sunday morning.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said after Friday's practice that WR Deebo Samuel is dealing with a deep thigh bruise. The team expected Samuel to be in better shape by now, but he wasn't able to do much in Friday's practice, Shanahan said. Samuel seems truly iffy for this weekend's game vs. the Dolphins -- and it's safe to assume that he won't be at 100% if he does suit up.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (quad) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Dolphins. He got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday, sitting out on Thursday. This game doesn’t kick off until 4:05 pm ET on Sunday, but we’ll look for an update on Samuel that morning.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) is not listed on the final injury report. He went from no practice on Wednesday to limited Thursday to full participation on Friday. McCaffrey is believed to be dealing with knee tendinitis, but we’re not expecting it to significantly impact him in Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins. RB Elijah Mitchell is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with his MCL sprain, leaving some combination of Ty Davis-Price, Jordan Mason and Tevin Coleman behind McCaffrey.

Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell (knee) has a chance to return Sunday against the Bears. The team has labeled him questionable after 3 limited practices. Campbell has been out since Week 8. We haven't seen any indication yet of how likely the veteran is to play but will be tracking his status up to Sunday's inactives announcement.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. “I feel great,” he said afterward. There's still a chance that the 'Niners need to scale back McCaffrey's snaps and/or touches due to that knee tendinitis vs. Miami this weekend, but he remains a must-start in fantasy lineups.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (quad) did not practice on Thursday, after being limited on Wednesday. It's unclear if this was a planned day off or if Samuel suffered a new injury on Wednesday. We'll hopefully have a better idea of Samuel's status for this weekend's game vs. the Dolphins by Friday night.

Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell managed a limited practice Wednesday, just his 2nd since suffering a Week 8 knee injury. His 1st limited workout came Friday, so this marks an improvement over last week. Campbell missed Wednesday and Thursday before a limited Friday that preceded him missing the loss at Philadelphia. We'll see if he can make it back for this Sunday's game at Chicago.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) won't practice on Wednesday, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Shanny added that McCaffrey "just felt something" in that left knee during last week's game and that they're "hopeful" he'll be able to play vs. the Dolphins on Sunday. That's not quite as reassuring as the reports on CMC's status over the previous couple of days. We're still tentatively expecting him to play this weekend, but we'll continue to keep a close eye on that knee.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan on Monday labeled RB Christian McCaffrey "day to day" with "knee irritation" and said that CMC will be managed during the week. It's unclear if McCaffrey's snaps and touches will need to be "managed" on game day. His 63% snap rate in Sunday's win over the Saints was his lowest since his 49ers debut in Week 7. And after tallying 27 and 20 opportunities (carries + targets) in Weeks 8 and 10, McCaffrey has gone for 14 and 17 the past 2 games. We'll keep a close eye on this knee situation going forward.

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan confirmed Monday that RB Elijah Mitchell did suffer an MCL sprain Sunday against the Saints. He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks. When Mitchell suffered the same injury to his other knee back in Week 1, he remained out until Week 10. Expect this injury to knock Mitchell out for at least the rest of the regular season. We'll see about the playoffs (for him and the 49ers).

WR Jauan Jennings led the 49ers with 6 catches in Sunday's win over the Saints, taking them for 49 yards and the team's lone TD. Jennings' 7 targets tied Deebo Samuel for 2nd on the team, trailing only WR Brandon Aiyuk. Samuel caught 3 balls for 43 yards, adding 2 carries for no gain. Aiyuk caught 5 passes for 65 yards. TE George Kittle contributed 3 receptions for 26 yards on 4 targets.
