Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. RBs Jordan Mason and Ty Davis-Price are active to spell workhorse RB Christian McCaffrey.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is not expected to play vs. the Cardinals today, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mitchell injured his knee in Thursday's practice and did not practice on Friday. His absence could mean an extra touch or two for RB Christian McCaffrey. Jordan Mason and Ty Davis-Price figure to be active behind CMC.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) is expected to play vs. the Cardinals today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Samuel didn't practice at all this week, so it's safe to assume he'll be playing at less than 100% today. It adds obvious risk to his Week 4 fantasy profile, although there's still plenty of upside in this matchup. See where Samuel sits in the Week 4 WR Rankings.
49ers insider Matt Maiocco believes the team's roster moves on Saturday suggest optimism for WR Deebo Samuel's Week 4 availability. San Francisco only elevated WR Willie Snead from the practice squad. He'll take the place of WR Jauan Jennings, who will miss Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals with a shin injury. But the fact that no other WRs were promoted is a sign that Samuel will play, according to Maiocco. We should get another update on Samuel on Sunday morning.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. He reportedly hurt his knee in Thursday's practice and did not practice on Friday. Mitchell's absence on Sunday would leave Jordan Mason as San Francisco's No. 2 RB.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. He didn't practice all week. Samuel said Friday that the knee is a bigger issue than the ribs, adding, "I feel pretty good... We'll just see how I continue to progress for the next couple of days and then we'll just see what happens." 49ers-Cardinals doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm ET on Sunday, but hopefully we'll get an update on Deebo that morning. WR Jauan Jennings (shin) is listed as doubtful for Week 4.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) is not listed on the final Week 4 injury report. He put in a full practice on Friday and seems ready to play his usual role vs. the Cardinals this weekend. With WR Deebo Samuel banged up, Aiyuk should be in for plenty of volume.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice but was out of his non-contact jersey, according to The Athletic's David Lombardi. Aiyuk is trending toward returning for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. We'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) missed practice again on Thursday. WR Jauan Jennings (shin) also remained sidelined for the second straight day. “They’ll be questionable for the game [vs. Arizona]," HC Kyle Shanahan said. "We’ll see how they go tomorrow. Hopefully they can get out tomorrow and give them a chance for Sunday." We'll update Samuel and Jennings' statuses again tomorrow.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He was seemingly close to playing last Thursday night, so we're tentatively expecting him back for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (ribs, knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He hurt his ribs in last Thursday night's win over the Giants but was labeled "day-to-day" by HC Kyle Shanahan. We don't have any info on the knee issue. We'll see if Samuel gets back on the practice field tomorrow.
The Packers have ruled LB De'Vondre Campbell (ankle) out for Thursday night's game against the Lions. That will leave Quay Walker as the No. 1 LB for the game and Isaiah McDuffie stepping into the lineup. McDuffie had just two games last season in which he played more than 24% of snaps. He topped out with 12 tackles at 82% in a Week 10 game Campbell missed. You can give McDuffie a look in deep IDP leagues, but he'd be a risky play elsewhere. We'll see about Campbell's status beyond Week 4.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel is "day-to-day" with a rib injury suffered in Thursday night's game vs. the Giants, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Samuel returned after suffering the injury, scoring a 29-yard TD in the fourth quarter. He should be fine for Week 4, especially with the extra few days to rest up.
49ers TE George Kittle totaled just six catches for 49 yards over the first two games of the season. He topped both of those marks in Thursday night's win over the Giants, hauling in seven balls for 90 yards. The big difference? San Francisco was without WR Brandon Aiyuk. Kittle drew nine targets for a 24.3% share vs. New York -- well up from his 16.7% target share over the first two weeks of the season. Kittle is an elite fantasy option whenever Aiyuk, WR Deebo Samuel, or RB Christian McCaffrey are out. He'll be inconsistent when all three of those guys are healthy. We'll see if Aiyuk is able to make it back for Week 4.
With WR Brandon Aiyuk inactive with a shoulder injury, 49ers WR Deebo Samuel was featured in Thursday night's win over the Giants. He drew a team-high 12 targets for a 32.4% target share. Samuel and QB Brock Purdy actually missed on a few connections they usually make, but Samuel still finished with 6 catches for 129 yards and a score. He had a couple of trademark bulldozing catch-and-runs. And he capped the night with a 29-yard TD down the right sideline. Expect Samuel's target share to take a bit of a hit whenever Aiyuk is ready to return. But he'll remain a big part of this high-scoring 49ers offense -- and a strong WR2 in fantasy lineups.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey's four-yard TD run in the second quarter of Thursday night's win over the Giants marked his 12th straight game with at least one TD. That ties WR Jerry Rice for the longest streak in franchise history. McCaffrey finished this one with 18 carries for 85 yards and the score, plus five catches on five targets for 34 yards. He gave way to RB Elijah Mitchell a bit more in this one -- but fantasy owners have nothing to complain about. McCaffrey will continue to be an elite fantasy asset as long as he stays healthy. He gets another plus matchup in Week 4 vs. the Cardinals before tougher draws against the Cowboys and Browns.
49ers QB Brock Purdy was without WR Brandon Aiyuk on Thursday night but still delivered a strong fantasy outing in the win over the Giants. He completed 25 of 37 passes (67.6%) for 310 yards (8.4 YPA), two TDs, and 0 INTs. Purdy actually missed a few throws early on but settled in by the second quarter. He found WR Ronnie Bell at the front pylon for a nine-yard score in the second quarter and then tossed a beautiful back-shoulder deep ball to WR Deebo Samuel for a 27-yard score in the fourth. Purdy has now tallied multiple passing TDs in nine of his 11 full games as a pro. He gets another plum matchup in Week 4 vs. the Cardinals that will make him a viable QB1. That's followed by much tougher draws vs. the Cowboys and Browns.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) is officially inactive for tonight's game vs. the Giants. He seemed relatively close to playing tonight, so we're tentatively expecting him back for Week 4. Aiyuk's absence should make San Francisco's offense even more concentrated, with RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, and TE George Kittle dominating touches.
The 49ers have downgraded WR Brandon Aiyuk to out for tonight's game against the Giants because of his shoulder injury. That should make Jauan Jennings the No. 2 WR for the upside matchup. Aiyuk (14) and Deebo Samuel (16) have accounted for 88.2% of WR targets for San Francisco through two weeks, with Jennings claiming the only other four. Jennings posted three games of 4+ receptions last year, though none came with Brock Purdy behind center. Jennings makes for a nice play in Thursday night DFS showdowns. He's too much of a longshot for most season-long redraft formats, though. Seventh-round rookie Ronnie Bell has been the No. 4 WR in playing time so far and matched Jennings in snaps in Week 2. He has yet to see a target, though.
The 49ers list WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Giants. ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports that HC Kyle Shanahan "indicated" Aiyuk will be a game-time decision. Fortunately, it's the first game of the week. So we'll know more before you're setting your Week 3 lineups.
