Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown (knee) practiced fully on Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation in advance of Week 17 vs. the Saints. Brown has been an elite fantasy option all season. Without QB Jalen Hurts last week vs. the Cowboys, he logged 103 receiving yards with 6 receptions on 8 targets from QB Gardner Minshew. There's no reason to believe Brown will slow down on Sunday. Fire him up with confidence in your lineups.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) is officially listed as doubtful for Week 17 vs. the Saints. Looks like fantasy managers are going to get another taste of backup QB Gardner Minshew on Sunday. Minshew had a strong top-12 fantasy outing against the Cowboys last week and should be able to continue with similar success this weekend. Consider Minshew a low-end QB1 in a neutral matchup vs. the Saints.
Buccaneers WR Julio Jones (knee) was a limited participant in practice again on Thursday. This is par for the course for the veteran in 2022. Even if Jones does suit up for Week 17 vs. the Panthers, he is unlikely to be on the fantasy radar anyway. Regardless, we'll keep up with an official word from Bucs practice tomorrow regarding Jones' health.
Eagles QB (right shoulder) managed to practice in a limited fashion on Thursday. This marks the 1st time Hurts has practiced since sustaining his shoulder injury in Week 15 vs. the Bears. It's still unclear whether he will be able to suit up vs. the Saints in Week 17. There's still a strong possibility we'll see QB Gardner Minshew again. Check back tomorrow as we learn more.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown (knee/rest) logged limited participation at practice again on Thursday. It's clear the Eagles are being cautious with Brown based on his injury designation. We'll have a better idea tomorrow as to whether or not he'll get the green light to play in Week 17 vs. the Saints.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice on Thursday. Parker has yet to appear in a game since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. At this point, it's safe to assume the Patriots will be without the veteran again. We'll keep an eye on this situation just in case something changes.
Buccaneers WR Julio Jones (knee) was a limited practice participant on Wednesday. The former All-Pro is a regular on the injury report in 2022, so it's tough to glean anything from only Wednesday's report. We'll keep an eye on Jones this week.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. The talented dual-threat QB missed last week's game vs. the Cowboys and is reportedly very much questionable for Week 17 vs. the Saints. Don't be surprised if QB Gardner Minshew gets the start for the Eagles this coming week, but we don't want to speak too soon either. We'll continue to monitor Hurts' status in practice this week.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown (knee) is listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice report. It's too soon to tell how this will affect his status for Week 17 vs. the Saints. Track this storyline as the week unfolds.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. The veteran wideout has not appeared in a game since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. There's still plenty of time this week for Parker to log practice participation, but working his way through NFL concussion protocol is the biggest hurdle in his way. We'll keep an eye on his activity in advance of Week 17 vs. the Dolphins.
ESPN's Dan Graziano writes that he'd be "surprised" if Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) played against the Saints this weekend. "The impression I get from talking to people about this situation is that the Eagles believe they will have Hurts back before their first playoff game, but they still aren't sure about the extent to which the injury will affect him once he does return," Graziano adds. We'll get Philadelphia's first practice report of the week this afternoon. QB Gardner Minshew certainly played well enough in last week's loss to the Cowboys to instill confidence in the Eagles.
Buccaneers WR Julio Jones (knee) is active for tonight's game against the Cardinals. He remained limited in practice all week after missing last Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Jones is tough to bet on for fantasy football lineups. His return challenges the role of WR Russell Gage, who led the Bucs in targets last week and scored twice.
QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is now more likely to play vs. the Saints next weekend after the Eagles' loss in Dallas, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Philly still needs 1 more win to lock up the top seed in the NFC. "My understanding is that there's a real chance Jalen Hurts, who's considered day-to-day with this injury, pushes to play" against New Orleans, Rapoport says. We'll track Hurts' status throughout this coming week.
Commanders WR Jahan Dotson led the team with 9 targets in Saturday's loss to the 49ers. He caught 6 of them for 76 yards and a TD. Dotson beat WR Terry McLaurin in targets a game after he tied McLaurin for the team lead. TE Logan Thomas followed Dotson in this one, catching 6 of 8 targets for 35 yards. WR Curtis Samuel added a 5-52-1 receiving line on 5 targets. McLaurin went 4-77-1 on 5 looks.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley ran for 84 yards and a TD on 14 carries in Saturday's narrow loss to the Vikings. He added 8 catches for 49 yards among 10 targets. It was the 2nd straight game of more than 100 total yards for the Giants RB, who faces the Colts in Week 17.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (shoulder) is officially active for today’s game vs. the Cowboys. It’ll be his first action since going down in Week 10. Goedert has been practicing for a couple of weeks, though, and we’re expecting him to play his usual role today.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' status for Week 17 is uncertain. Hurts is dealing with an SC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder, per Schefter. Whether he plays vs. the Saints next weekend will depend on how that shoulder injury progresses, as well as where the Eagles stand in the playoff race. "If the Eagles can win Saturday in Dallas, they would not need to risk Hurts next week against the Saints," Schefter writes. "But if they lose Saturday, Hurts will push to play against New Orleans even if he is not fully healthy, as is expected to be the case, according to sources." We'll keep an eye on this, but fantasy owners should at least be preparing to be without Hurts again in Week 17.
Buccaneers WR Julio Jones (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 16 vs. the Cardinals after limited practice all week. When healthy, Jones has been a solid fantasy contributor. It is difficult to trust the former superstar, however. Jones has only played in 8 games and has been fantasy relevant in even fewer of them. Outside of a desperate situation, you should probably sit Jones. There are likely better options available.
Steelers QB Kenny Pickett (concussion) practiced fully for the 2nd day in a row. HC Mike Tomlin said earlier this week that he expected the rookie to clear concussion protocol and start against the Raiders on Saturday. This week's practice reports reflect that. While the Raiders rank as the 3rd-best matchup in adjusted points allowed to QBs, the weather in Pittsburgh may cause passing the ball to be challenging for both teams. As such, Pickett is a low-end QB2 worthy of consideration in superflex leagues only.
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni isn't ready to rule out QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) for Saturday's game vs. the Cowboys. "There’s a chance he could play this week," Sirianni said. "He’s one of the toughest guys I know. His body is not like yours or mine. He heals fast. I will not rule him out. I will not put a timetable on him. We’ll see what happens." We're still not expecting Hurts to play this weekend. And neither are the oddsmakers, considering the Eagles are 5.5-point underdogs as of Tuesday afternoon. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation, but Hurts owners should be lining up an alternative for Week 16.
