Las Vegas Raiders Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (groin) is questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers. He was added to the injury report on Friday and limited in practice. Guyton played 79% of the Chargers’ offensive snaps and saw six targets last week. His loss would be significant – and likely leave rookie Derius Davis as the No. 3 WR.

Falcons HC Arthur Smith said Monday that he'll wait until after the Week 11 bye to name a starting QB going forward. QB Taylor Heinicke struggled in the loss to the Cardinals before exiting early in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. QB Desmond Ridder went four of six for 39 yards and scored a nine-yard rushing TD over the final 14 minutes. Smith praised Ridder's play in his Monday press conference, so our guess is that he'll be back under center come Week 12. But we'll let you know what Smith makes an announcement next week.

We didn't expect Seahawks QB Geno Smith to have a good game against the Ravens on Sunday. But he was bad enough that we might need to worry about Smith even in better matchups. He completed just 13 of 28 attempts at Baltimore, taking 4 sacks, tossing 1 INT and losing a fumble. Smith's 157 yards marked his third game this season with less than 200. And he how has 6 INTs vs. just 4 TD passes over the past four games. Smith's next two matchups look positive, including a Week 10 spot against Washington, which entered Sunday as the second-best scoring matchup for QBs by our adjusted fantasy points allowed. Don't be surprised if Smith still doesn't get into the top 12 when we update our Week 10 rankings Tuesday. But fantasy teams will be losing Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Tua Tagovailoa to byes. So Smith might actually make sense as your starter in plenty of cases.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert tallied 85 rushing yards and 1 score in Week 9. His 13-yard cutback run in the third quarter put his season-long scoring tally at 13. Miami gave Mostert 12 carries in the narrow loss, good for a healthy 70.5% carry share. The Fins enters a Week 10 bye before facing Vegas the following week. Barring a setback, De’Von Achane should return for that one. Still, Mostert profiles as a top-15 RB going forward.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 9 injury report. He got in just limited practices on Thursday and Friday but is in no danger of missing Sunday morning’s game vs. the Chiefs in Germany.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He confirmed afterward that he fully expects to play vs. the Chiefs on Sunday morning. We'll see how Mostert is listed on the final injury report tomorrow, but he can stay penciled into Week 9 fantasy lineups.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He played through this issue last week and should be ready for Sunday morning's game vs. the Chiefs in Germany. But it's a reminder that Mostert isn't at 100% right now.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Vincent Bonsignore tweets that the Raiders are "leaning toward" starting QB Aidan O'Connell vs. the Giants this weekend. QB Jimmy Garoppolo was a disaster in Monday night's loss to the Lions, throwing for just 126 yards, 0 TDs, and one INT on 21 attempts. O'Connell wasn't great in his Week 4 start vs. the Chargers, averaging 6.1 yards per pass attempt with 0 TDs and one INT. But the 3-5 Raiders under interim HC Antonio Pierce are looking beyond 2023 at this point. We'll look for further updates on the Raiders' QB plans. We certainly wouldn't consider O'Connell an upgrade for Raiders pass catchers.

Update: NFL Network reports the Raiders are expected to start O'Connell "this week and going forward." We'll see how this trial goes.

Early on Wednesday morning, the Raiders announced via Twitter/X that the team has fired HC Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler. The official statement from owner Mark Davis reads, "After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish their families nothing but the best." While the timing of this news is a bit of a surprise, the motivation behind it is understandable. The Raiders' offense ranks 30th in points per game (15.8) and 31st in total yards per game (268.3) in 2023 and held a 9-16 record over the past season and a half under McDaniels' tutelage. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders are expected to name LB coach Antonio Pierce as their interim head coach. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the fantasy fallout from this situation.

Raiders K Daniel Carlson (groin) is active for tonight's game vs. the Lions. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday and was listed as questionable. But Carlson is available if you were waiting on him.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith completed 23 of 37 passes for 254 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs in Week 8’s win vs. the Browns. Even had it not been for the pair of turnovers, Smith’s fantasy relevance wouldn’t have been on a week-winning level. He now sits as the QB23 on the season and Week 9’s matchup vs. the Ravens won’t be an easy task for Smith, either. The veteran is nothing more than a superflex starter until further notice.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert cashed in a goal line rushing score against New England. That proved critical, as he gained only 46 yards on 13 carries. Despite 45 passes from Tua Tagovailoa, the veteran RB wasn't targeted. Also note: Jeff Wilson mixed in for 5 attempts (25% of the team RB total), while Salvon Ahmed saw 2 (10%). De’Von Achane won’t return until Week 11 at the earliest, so keep Mostert in lineups as a no-doubt fantasy starter. Next up is a matchup with Kansas City.

Falcons HC Arthur Smith said after Sunday's loss to the Titans that QB Desmond Ridder wasn't removed from the game for "performance issues." It's unclear exactly what that means. Ridder was reportedly evaluated for a concussion but was cleared to return. No other injury was announced. “We've got a lot of confidence in Des," Smith added. We'll keep an eye on the situation this coming week. QB Taylor Heinicke played well in the second half today, completing 12 of 21 passes for 175 yards, one TDs, and 0 INTs.

Falcons QB Desmond Ridder was benched at halftime of Sunday's game vs. the Titans. He was evaluated for a concussion but cleared, per Tori McElhaney of the team's website. Ridder went 8-of-12 for 71 scoreless yards in the first half. He's been replaced by QB Taylor Heinicke. We'll see how he fares and who Atlanta rolls with under center in Week 9 and beyond.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He got in just limited practices on Thursday and Friday, but there’s been nothing to suggest that he’ll be limited today.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) is expected to play in today's game vs. the Patriots, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mostert only got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, but we never sensed any concern about his availability for this one. He should be ready for his usual role.

Raiders K Daniel Carlson (groin) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Lions. He only got in a limited practice on Saturday. Look elsewhere for your Week 8 fantasy kicker.

Raiders K Daniel Carlson (groin) has yet to practice this week. We’ll see how he’s listed on Saturday’s final injury report for the Monday nighter vs. the Lions, but you should start looking elsewhere for your Week 8 fantasy kicker.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Patriots. He got in just limited practices on Thursday and Friday but said Friday that he’ll play against New England. We’ll get Miami’s inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday.

Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He should be fine for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots, but we'll get another update on Mostert tomorrow.
