Detroit Lions Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He got in just a limited practice on Friday – his 1st since going down in Week 3 – so it’s tough to know how close to 100% he’ll be for this one. St. Brown sets up as a high-risk/high-reward Week 5 fantasy play. See where he sits in the WR Rankings.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after missing Week 4. We’re projecting Montgomery to return as Chicago’s lead back, but he carries more risk than usual coming off the ankle injury.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle) is "optimistic" about playing today against the Vikings. These reports almost always come across as "expected" or "not expected" to play, so the wording here seems to indicate a bit less confidence in Montgomery's status. We wouldn't be surprised if an active Montgomery gets less than his usual workload -- especially with Khalil Herbert running well and the Bears heavy underdogs on the road. If Montgomery is active, this looks like a backfield to try to avoid. We will keep our RB rankings updated throughout the morning.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Montgomery "plans to play against the Vikings barring any pregame setbacks."

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is expected to play today against the Patriots. He made it back for just 1 limited practice this week, so there's still some risk. But St. Brown operated as the dominant #1 target before going down this season and would carry significant PPR upside.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. He returned to a limited practice on Friday -- his 1st since going down in Week 3. It looks like St. Brown at least has a chance to play on Sunday. We'll look for an update on his status on Sunday morning and get Detroit's inactives around 11:30 am ET.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Vikings. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. HC Matt Eberflus said Friday that everything is "real positive" with Montgomery, so it sounds like he has a shot to return for Sunday’s game. We’ll look for an update on the situation Sunday morning and will get Chicago’s inactives around 11:30 am ET.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. At this point, he's looking unlikely to play vs. the Patriots on Sunday. St. Brown gets a Week 6 bye to heal up.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday -- his 1st since going down early in Week 3. It gives Montgomery a chance to play against the Vikings on Sunday. We should have a better idea of his status when we get Chicago's final injury report tomorrow afternoon.

Lions WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle), D.J. Chark (ankle), Josh Reynolds (ankle) and Quintez Cephus (foot) all missed practice on Wednesday. St. Brown and Chark missed Week 4 and appear to be in danger of missing Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. We'll see about Reynolds and Cephus. Tom Kennedy, Kalif Raymond and Maurice Alexander are Detroit's healthy WRs right now. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. At this point, we're assuming that Montgomery will miss this weekend's game vs. the Vikings. But we'll see if he's able to get back on the practice field tomorrow.

Rams WR Allen Robinson mustered only 2 catches for 7 yards in a Week 4 loss to San Francisco. Robinson drew an end zone target, but he was well defended on the incomplete pass. On the night, he saw 6 targets — way behind Cooper Kupp (19) and Tyler Higbee (14). Zooming out, it looks as if Robinson — despite a summer filled with buzz — isn’t consistently getting open in HC Sean McVay's offense. A tough Dallas defense will arrive for Week 5.

Lions QB Jared Goff tallied 378 yards and 4 TD passes in Sunday's shootout loss to the Seahawks. Detroit trailed by 15+ at 3 different points but rebounded to make it a 48-45 final. Goff found TE T.J. Hockenson for a pair of scores and hit WR Josh Reynolds and RB Justin Jackson with the 2 others. Goff'ffs Week 5 meeting with the Patriots figures to be less favorable. Then comes a Week 6 bye.

Vikings EDGE Za'Darius Smith (knee) is active for today's game against the Saints.

Vikings EDGE Za'Darius Smith (knee) is questionable for Sunday morning's game against the Saints. He missed the 1st 2 days of practice this week before putting in a limited Friday workout. Smith probably isn't worth the risk for most IDP lineups, but we'll at least know his status early Sunday with the 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff in London.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle, knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 5, but it’ll be the Khalil Herbert Show in Chicago’s backfield this weekend. Herbert averaged 19.5 carries and 2.5 targets in 4 games without Montgomery last year.

The Lions have ruled WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. And that's not the only injury at play in this pass-catching corps. TE T.J. Hockenson (foot), WR D.J. Chark (ankle) and Josh Reynolds (ankle) are also dealing with injuries that have cost them practice time this week. Khalif Raymond and Quintez Cephus sit behind that group if any others wind up inactive. HC Dan Campbell also said Friday that RB D'Andre Swift is "probably out" for the game. We'll update official statuses for others as they come out.

Lions RB Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. It's officially time to worry about his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks. We'll see if St. Brown is able to practice on Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle, knee) missed practice again on Thursday. We continue to expect Montgomery to miss this weekend's game vs. the Giants, setting up Khalil Herbert as a volume-based RB2.

Bears RB David Montgomery (ankle, knee) did not practice on Wednesday. The team continues to call him "day to day," but we're not expecting Montgomery to play vs. the Giants this weekend. That'd leave RB Khalil Herbert in a high-volume role.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. St. Brown's injury reportedly isn't a long-term deal, but he's not a lock to be ready for Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. We'll get another update tomorrow.
