Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Falcons on Monday announced the signing of WR Auden Tate. The former 7th-round pick caught 61 passes across 4 seasons with the Bengals. Most of those came in 2019, when Tate posted a 40-575-1 receiving line. He might remain fantasy irrelevant in Atlanta, but the signing is worth noting because the entire Falcons WR depth chart is currently occupied by shrug emojis. Atlanta also announced the re-signing of Qadree Ollison, who figures to battle Damien Williams for the #3 RB spot (barring an upgrade via the NFL Draft).
The Browns traded QB Case Keenum to the Bills for a 7th-round pick. Keenum replaces QB Mitchell Trubisky as QB Josh Allen's backup. Cleveland then signed QB Jacoby Brissett, who would be in line to start if QB Deshaun Watson is suspended.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that former Raiders WR Zay Jones will be signing a 3-year, $24 million deal with the Jaguars that could be worth up to $30 million. Jones enjoyed a nice 2nd half to 2021 with the Raiders, but the former 2nd-round pick has mostly disappointed through 5 NFL seasons. It's tough to get excited about his upside with a team that is also adding WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram to an offense that returns RB Travis Etienne from IR and still sports WR Laviska Shenault and TE Dan Arnold. Jones' arrival could be a bad sign for Marvin Jones, who has just 1 year left on his contract and would provide $3.5 million in cap savings if cut this offseason.
The Cardinals are re-signing QB Colt McCoy on a 2-year, $7.5 million deal, with $6 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. McCoy saw 3 starts as Kyler Murray's backup in 2021.
The Cardinals are signing RB James Conner to a 3-year contract worth up to $25.5 million ($13.5 million guaranteed). Conner, who scored 18 times in 2021, heads back to Arizona on the same day that Miami signed Chase Edmonds. Look for Arizona to add a complimentary backfield piece, either in the draft or in free agency. Conner’s currently coming off the board as the RB29 in FFPC drafts, but that number will certainly rise in the coming days.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen describes the "odd vibe" between QB Kyler Murray and the Cardinals as "alarming." Mort hears that Murray is "frustrated" with the organization and believes "he’s been framed as the scapegoat" for the playoff loss to the Rams. Murray, meanwhile, is described as "self-centered, immature and a finger pointer." Stuff like this tends to pass as we get further removed from the end of the season. We'd be surprised if Murray isn't back with the Cardinals in 2022 but will keep you updated on the situation.
Cardinals RB James Conner (ribs) returned to practice on Saturday. HC Kliff Kingsbury said the veteran was “able to do some things” during the session, per ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. (Thanks, coach.) Conner remains a game-time decision for Monday night, but today’s development makes him a small favorite to play against L.A.
Cardinals RB James Conner (ribs) remained out and RB Chase Edmonds (ribs, toe) remained limited on Friday. Both guys will be game-time decisions, according to HC Kliff Kingsbury, but Edmonds looks like the safer bet to play at this point. We'll get Arizona's final injury report on Saturday afternoon.
Cardinals RB James Conner (ribs) did not practice on Thursday. RB Chase Edmonds (ribs, toe) was limited. HC Kliff Kingsbury labeled both guys game-time decisions for Monday night's Wild Card game vs. the Rams, but Edmonds appears to be the healthier of the 2 right now. We'll get another update on the situation on Friday afternoon.
Cardinals RB James Conner suffered a rib injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks and is officially questionable to return. Arizona is already without RB Chase Edmonds and also lost RB Jonathan Ward to a knee injury today. RB Eno Benjamin is the last man standing.
Cardinals RB James Conner (heel) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s unclear how close to 100% he is for this one. But Conner averaged 17.0 carries and 5.2 targets in 5 games without RB Chase Edmonds earlier this season, so the ceiling is lofty.
Cardinals RB James Conner (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. We're expecting him to play after getting in 3 limited practices this week but will look for an update on his status on Sunday morning. Seahawks-Cardinals kicks off at 4:25 pm ET. With RB Chase Edmonds (ribs, toe) ruled out, Arizona would be down to RBs Eno Benjamin and Jonathan Ward if Conner can't go.
Jets RB Michael Carter (concussion) is not listed on the final Week 18 injury report after getting in full practices on Thursday and Friday. He should lead the backfield vs. the Bills on Sunday. But RB Tevin Coleman, who was activated from the COVID list on Wednesday, figures to mix in.
Jets RB Michael Carter (concussion) was listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice. He now looks likely to be cleared for this weekend's game vs. the Bills. Carter should operate as New York's lead back in that one, but RB Tevin Coleman is off the COVID list and figures to mix in.
Jets RB Michael Carter (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. The rookie is in danger of missing this weekend's finale vs. the Bills. We'll see if he's able to practice tomorrow.
Cardinals RB James Conner (heel) was limited in Wednesday's practice. That's an upgrade over last week, when he only got in a limited practice on Friday. We'll see if Conner can make it back for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks.
Cardinals S Budda Baker (ribs) and DE Zach Allen (ankle) are active for today's game against the Cowboys.
Cardinals RB James Conner (heel) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cowboys. That should put RB Chase Edmonds back in a feature role. He racked up 16 carries and 9 targets with Conner out last week.
Jets RB Michael Carter sustained a concussion in the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. the Bucs. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 18. With RB Tevin Coleman out on the COVID list, the Jets are down to RBs Ty Johnson and Austin Walter.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that there's "optimism" Cardinals RB James Conner (heel) will be able to play vs. the Cowboys today. Conner is listed as questionable after getting in just a limited practice on Friday, so he'd come with elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he ends up playing. We'll get Arizona's inactives around 3 pm ET.
