Auden Tate Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Falcons cut WRs Auden Tate and Geronimo Allison -- among others -- Tuesday. Each guy has had moments where he stirred minor fantasy interest with previous teams, but neither generated buzz this summer.

The Falcons on Monday announced the signing of WR Auden Tate. The former 7th-round pick caught 61 passes across 4 seasons with the Bengals. Most of those came in 2019, when Tate posted a 40-575-1 receiving line. He might remain fantasy irrelevant in Atlanta, but the signing is worth noting because the entire Falcons WR depth chart is currently occupied by shrug emojis. Atlanta also announced the re-signing of Qadree Ollison, who figures to battle Damien Williams for the #3 RB spot (barring an upgrade via the NFL Draft).

Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Steelers. Auden Tate figures step in as Cincinnati’s #3 WR but would be a desperation fantasy play. Higgins’ absence frees up a bunch of targets for WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is not expected to play vs. the Steelers today. Higgins is listed as doubtful, so no surprise there. Auden Tate is the favorite to move into Cincinnati's 3-WR sets but isn't a viable fantasy play. WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd should pick up extra targets with Higgins out.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the Steelers. HC Zac Taylor said Friday that he wants to wait to see how Higgins feels on Sunday before ruling him out -- but he’s obviously a long shot. Higgins’ absence would elevate WR Auden Tate to the #3 WR spot and free up a bunch of targets for WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd.

The Bengals selected Florida State WR Auden Tate with the 4th-to-last pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Tate bombed his Combine workout, plodding to a 4.68-second 40 time and finishing with a 3rd percentile SPARQ score. He’ll struggle to create separation as a pro but does have some intriguing contested-catch ability. Tate goes 6’5, 228 pounds with 92nd percentile arm length, strong hands and nice body control. Per Pro Football Focus, he hauled in 66.7% of his contested targets last year — 6th best in the country. But Tate’s bottom-barrel measurables — plus the fact that he’s a 7th-rounder — make him a long shot for fantasy value.
