Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (knee) said via Twitter on Monday that he's been medically cleared. It was surely in response to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques' report earlier in the day that Mostert "might not be ready for Week 1." We'll keep an eye on Mostert's health -- and role in this offense -- over the next few weeks.
Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (knee) "might not be ready for Week 1," according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, because he's "still recovering from a late-season knee injury." That's news to us. Mostert had surgery in September to address a knee cartilage issue, but there had been no reports of a "late-season" injury. The 30-year-old has played in just 9 games over the past 2 seasons and is tough to like as more than a late-round flier in fantasy drafts. Dolphins RBs Chase Edmonds and Sony Michel are more attractive picks. We'll keep an eye on Mostert's status leading up to the opener.
Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert indicated last week that the knee he injured in Week 1 of 2021 is almost back to full strength. "Rehab is going great! Close to 100%," he tweeted. Mostert has yet to practice with his new team since signing in March. It doesn't seem like great news from here that his left knee -- which had to have "chipped cartilage" repaired in the area of his meniscus -- isn't yet all the way back. But we never saw a publicized return timeline for the uncommon procedure. We'll see about Mostert's status (and role) come training camp. He'll compete with Chase Edmonds and Sony Michel for touches.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Dolphins are expected to sign RB Raheem Mostert. The veteran RB, of course, played under new Miami HC Mike McDaniel in San Francisco, where McDaniel spent 2021 as OC after 4 seasons as run-game coordinator. We'll see about the plan for Mostert in a backfield that has already added RB Chase Edmonds in free agency. Mostert is going in the late rounds of early best-ball drafting, which gives him upside at a low-risk price. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it's a 1-year, $3.25 million deal.
RB Raheem Mostert is "making a full recovery and will be ready to play this season," agent Brett Tessler tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mostert is rehabbing a knee-cartilage injury and went for testing this week under Dr. Dan Cooper in Dallas. Mostert is set to hit free agency next week. There have been rumors of interest from both sides on him re-signing with the 49ers. Mostert is a low-risk shot late in current best-ball fantasy football drafts.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert announced on social media that he'll undergo season-ending knee surgery after consulting with multiple doctors. So, if you weren't already planning to, you can safely drop Mostert from all redraft rosters. San Francisco is left with Elijah Mitchell, JaMycal Hasty and Trey Sermon at RB. All 3 figure to be active for Week 2. It's also worth noting that RB Jeff Wilson (knee) is eligible to come off the PUP list in Week 7. You can see where all of those guys sit in our updated Rest-of-Season Rankings.
Niners RB Raheem Mostert has chipped cartilage in the knee he injured Sunday. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner reports that he’ll land on IR and is expected to miss 8 weeks. Elijah Mitchell took control of the backfield after Mostert left in Detroit, with JaMycal Hasty involved as well. We’d bet on Trey Sermon being active at Philly in Week 2. We’ll see about the workload split. Obviously, we have to assume that Mitchell will lead the way again — barring reports to the contrary.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said after today's win over the Lions that RB Raheem Mostert is not dealing with an ACL injury. Shanahan didn’t have any other information. We should learn more tomorrow.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions with a knee injury. We'll pass along an update when we get one.
49ers RB Trey Sermon is inactive for today's game against the Lions. It's a major surprise -- and leaves Raheem Mostert as San Francisco's clear lead RB in a dream matchup. Mostert is a borderline must-start in fantasy. RBs JaMycal Hasty and Elijah Mitchell are behind Mostert today.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert got the start in Sunday's preseason finale and played all 10 snaps on the 1st possession. RB Trey Sermon then played all 14 snaps on the 2nd possession. Those 2 will open the season sharing backfield work. The exact split between them remains uncertain.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert left Wednesday's practice with "apparent back pain," according to insider Cam Inman. "Mostert winced as he reached the sideline and was checked on by trainers, then watched most of the remaining plays from a knee," Inman adds. We'll see how serious of an issue this ends up being. Mostert, of course, has struggled staying healthy over the past 3 seasons -- although he's never had back trouble.
The 49ers are holding RB Trey Sermon out of Sunday night's preseason game against the Chargers. The rookie reportedly sustained a mild ankle injury during the practice week. According to Niners Nation, he returned to the field for the practice in which he came up "gimpy." That indicates it's not an issue we need to worry about. Raheem Mostert and Elijah Mitchell also won't play in the game, leaving more reps for Wayne Gallman and JaMycal Hasty.
